I think youre right. I seemed to be getting endless treads upon stars, but no other strike exclusives... But two days ago I got my first grasp of malok. Meanwhile my buddy has gotten like 4 imago loops and I've yet to get one. And we never grind strikes individually hoping for gear... This is just in the heroic playlist that this happens.
