Proximity matters. You probably have better latency to people near you geographically. Sadly, despite literally inventing it, our internet is not generally fastest, while also costing more. You see, many countries treat internet as a utility, but we treat it as a for profit business... So when we shovel money at Comcast, a significant portion of it goes to shareholders, but when someone in the UK for example shovels their money at a telecom, a larger portion goes to actual network improvements and maintenance. Our system could work, except have you noticed you don't generally have but 1 or 2 choices? Yeah, that's what breaks it. A more profit motivated system like ours requires healthy market competition to incentivize lower prices and better service, and we have something closer to regional monopolies.

Here's an idea, lets group people into brackets! 1kbps-1mbps, 1.1mbps-5mbps, 5.1-10mbps, 10.1-20+mbps. That way it'll be just like America, and you see how well they are doing!

1 AntwortenOn behalf of all the Americans that use their brain, i would like to apologize to all the "foreigners" that may have been offended by OP. Clearly he failed to realize that Internet connection quality can be affected by distance. Many of the friends i play with are from outside the US and we work around connection issues IF and WHEN we have them. OP clearly forgot about the half of americans using McDonalds and or Starbucks Wifi.
