This is the conclusion everyone has come to. Bungie thinks snipers are great how they are right now. I think to myself, have they even played the game?
Snipers are ruining PVP. And no, it is not because they are overpowered. But they are easy to use. Let me explain my reasoning.
1. Body shots deal way too much damage.
Why are players rewarded for hitting body shots? One body shot with a high impact sniper brings you down to a sliver of health. Meaning anyone in the vicinity will one shot you (usually them switching to primary) and the grenade body shot combo is booming. I don't care how high impact the sniper is, anything but a headshot should do very little damage. Meaning that high impact snipers should take about half (1000 Yard 49%, Eireine 51% and Spindle 63% like impact actually makes a difference) health out. Low impact should take 4. Higher impact 3. Eireine/Spindle 2. Headshots remain one shot kills. Is that a nerf? No. Does it bring the overall TTK's of snipers down to bring them on par with the rest of the weapons? Yes.
2. Too much special ammo
Kids wield snipers as primary weapons. Every game, just entire teams of kids with them out, team body shotting and never running out of ammo. Snipers kill way too fast, and they aren't hard to use. There's no sway, there's very little flinching when shot. It's a joke. Have you used shotguns? They are a million times harder to use than a sniper, and don't even try and argue until you use one; even CT-D is garbage. A warlock's Melee is farther range than any shotguns kill radius and I challenge you to test that but that is bullshit.
3. As I mentioned above, very little flinch when shot, and aim assist is too high.
When I'm gunning down a sniper, it is ridiculous getting quick scoped, or having them still scoped and still being able to hit head, or any part of the body. That's completely unfair. Low risk? That means you shouldn't be getting shot. When you're getting shot, and can still easily pull off kills, then it isn't doing its intended purpose. Personally, I don't think you should scope out when shot, that would be annoying. But the flinch needs to be massive, so rather than being able to kill someone easily anyways, it forces the sniper to run away and take cover, or stand by and be slaughtered.
4. No more close range sniper scopes
Take off Shortgaze. Take off Ambush. Take off the Omolon Red Dot and Normal Scopes. Knock out the short-mid range encounters that make snipers almost into scout rifles. This change alone would be a massive step forward. Make snipers into what they are intended to be; long range.
Be honest, would these changes be nerfs? No. But it would make the guns fair. And obviously the special ammo changes applies to shotguns and other special weapons also. So everyone wins on that aspect.

1 AntwortenThey are high risk, high reward weapons. If you don't stand still or run in a straight line when out in the open you should be fine.

4 AntwortenBearbeitet von StrictlyTy: 1/29/2016 8:25:44 PM1. Pretty sure in like every other fps I've played a sniper shot that doesn't kill you leaves you with low health. In halo your shield drops. So you're one shot, in CoD you're absolute, in Gears of War you're left weak. It's a pretty common mechanic. 2. The special ammo is fine 3. The flinch was increased with the 2.0 patch. Snipers already caught a ninja nerf. 4. The removal of shortrange scopes isn't going to stop quickscoping. People are still going to do it. 5. All your changes are nerfs, stop lying to yourself. 6. Play better scrub

1 AntwortenI agree with most of these. Snipers should not have short range scopes. That would solve half the problem there. Also if body shot damage was reduced so only very high impact snipers can 2 shot body kill.

3 AntwortenLol salty cause he can't snipe them back
-
Yes the meta is now snipers which I hate cause i have liked snipes since I made a hunter (beta) and now those guardians who previously or currently have/had a fetish for buck shot use cause some streamer said they were good.

1 AntwortenMy opinion, since they have crippled rocket launchers and the raid bosses in this round have ridiculous damage points coupled with a static meta from PVP to PVE.. snipers are being left alone at this point. Can you imagine the bullet sponge Gorgoroth or WarPriest without high impact snipers in this meta? I still find it hilarious that you are sniping Gorgy from a distance that a shotgun should be effective. I think one of the biggest challenges for destiny 2 (if it makes it to release) is to still allow weapons to be used in PVP from the PVE realm, but to allow the meta to play differently in each.
-
Agreed. Nice post. I'll add that end game PvP has zero appeal to me due to a direct relationship with ease of use snipers. If anything the current state exposes map imbalance.
-
The only problem is that snipers don't flinch enough when you put two or three shots to the head and they still manage to snipe you in the head. I think the only way to fix it is to make them flinch more while ADS. This will solve it.

2 AntwortenSnipers are honestly perfectly fine how they are. If they were so OP ... Why doesn't every person use them? The vast majority still use shotguns. Most people can't even use the sniper effectively. The only thing I could see is making the body shot do half damage instead of 3/4. Anything else would be too much of a nerf. Quick scopes are fine because the vast majority cannot do it. Any who, quickly shooting people with a sniper at close range is 100x harder then a slide shotgun.

Snipers are a problem because primary weapons are underpowered. No other FPS that lets you pick which weapon you want to fight with tries to keep TTKs this long...-and it's not working I this game.
-
Nerf special ammo again, prepare your nerf NLB and Icebreaker posts.
-
All they need to do to snipers is Increase flinch and decrease weapon handling and movement speed. Pretty much just do what they did to shotguns and they will be fine.
-
Buff shotguns and fusions and you won't have a sniper problem.
-
agree with the flich, but just make them sluggish so switching after firing takes a bit and a small small small nerf to rate of fire

6 Antworten3 or 4 body shots is too much. 2 for torso. 3 if you get leg shot. My solution to the point-blank kills: reverse damage falloff on snipers. If you are 5 feet away it should take 5 shots to kill. I'm sure that'd piss off some sliding long-gunners. :)

No, just no.

1 AntwortenDude come on snipers are supposed to dominate on large maps there supposed to be high impact and it take a little skill to use a sniper in destiny. And the enemy of a sniper in a shotgun shotguns use close quarters naturally shotgun is enemy of sniper
-
2 AntwortenAgreed body shots should be trash DPS and head shots OHK. Snipers need some serious adjustments including higher scope zoom so people aren't 5 feet in front of you using a sniper gtfo with that crap.

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von Davidoff-sensei: 1/29/2016 4:07:01 AMNothing but -blam!-en Noobs in here seriously, snipers have been the same since day one. The sniper your complaining about let me guess the thousand yard stare, has less aim assist than most year 1 snipers and less aim assist than a lot of year 2 snipers. Firstly learn what aim assist even does, it is not "omfg free collateral headshots" like you think. Secondly Go and snipe and kill people close range and see how "easy" it is ... Then you'll run back to your scrubby -blam!-en shotgun and continue running down sniper lanes wondering how you got sniped. You'll continue having no idea about line of sights on maps and you'll continue complaining like you are. Stay scrubby Noobs.

1 AntwortenI don't mind those changes the rare instances I whip out my 1k I only headshot anyway lol. But flinch needs to not go back to the same spot.
-
2 AntwortenMy main shotgun is the chaperone, because it rewards precision with range and fire rate. I personally love the way they changed it, (less base damage more precision) because even if I missed my headshot and hit the body they would have almost no health left. I think bungie should do the same thing with snipers. Another change I would like snipers to have is to make all scopes have a minimum zoom of at least 5 or 6 times. This would remove(or at least make it harder) close range kills with a sniper. Specials have to have diverse ranges like primaries, with shotguns being the close range, side arms being the close/ close mid range, fusion rifles being mid range, and snipers being long range( and only long range, not usable in close quarters). I really don't see anything wrong with the changes I proposed. Any other suggestions?

1 AntwortenI don't mind snipers. What I do mind is when I get killed by them in shotgun range.
-
Too much

They need to add a second or two when you ready the scope. They also need to not allow the aim assist to auto target someone's head when you first ready the scope. Problem fixed no more close to point blank range quick scoping.

Couldn't agree more

2. I can agree with this. ALL variants need to have special ammo availability like Inferno is set up. 4. You immediately make snipers almost 100% unusable in every map aside from 4. If there is no close-mid ranged scopes, you could basically only use snipers efficiently in Cathedral, Skyshock, Bastion, and First Light. Call me crazy, but I'm not trying to only have a special weapon class almost unusable outside of 4 maps.
