So my sister just got her first phone.
She is 8 years old and has gotten her first cellphone. It's an iPhone 6. I didn't get my first phone till I was like 12 and that was a slide phone. Anyway my question to The Flood is this, is my sister too young to have a phone? I mean what is an 8 year old going to do with an iPhone?

My first phone was at 18, when I could afford to buy one and pay for the plan. It isn't the children's fault though. Parents are too needy and can't handle the "stress" of not having a lifeline to their child every second of every day of every year of their child's whole life.

Got my first phone at 14, flip phone for emergencies. Barely used it until I got a "Smartphone", old Android.

That is dumb. I'm 15 and don't have a phone (just an iPod without service) but it all depends on what you could use it for. My case is I'm getting a job soon and I'll need one. If an 8 yr old is running a business or working somewhere then they should have one but Instagram and snapchat is not a good use

6 AntwortenAll I see nowadays are kids with (fancy) phones. Why?! They're 8-10 years old.. What could they use the phone for? To call mommy when she forgot to bring you cookies for school?! I had my first phone when I was 13 and it was one of those old unbreakable Nokia phones (•-• )

When I was 8 I got a flip phone but, it was because when me and my brothers went to my dads house he wouldn't answer my moms calls

I despise that. Kids have no use whatsoever for a phone, much less an iPhone. I got my first phone at 13, and it was an old slide phone that didn't work most of the time.

I mean you could text, but it'd take 5 minutes to write one sentence. I know a family where her 10 and 8 year old got smart phones. One dropped it down the toilet first week. The other lost it first week. So yes, she is way too young.

Ask questions which she doesn't know the answer to 4. Call/text you or your parents if she's in trouble 5. Receive calls/text off you or your parents if you need her There's probably more reasons but I think that'll do.

That phone is way too expensive for a 8 year old. If she got something like an iPhone 3 or a Galaxy S3 it'd be somewhat reasonable.
