Yes, I'm a casual that all you guys think probably shouldn't be in the crucible with my shitty stats but I've just recently started playing a lot of PvP (due to lack of PvE content, cough, cough Bungie) and I love it, so hear me out.
Got to 8-0 in trials the other day with no mercy left and we faced off against a team with Scarab emblems and 320 light. I'm sure you all know how it ended, 5-0 their way and the match was over in a matter of minutes. There was no teabagging or carrying on, these guys knew how to play and got it done. My hat goes off to them and I'm not bitter.
Haha, I remember thinking this could be it, I may finally be on my way to the illustrious lighthouse that I thought would be forever out of reach. But it wasn't to be. I won't stop trying because as gutted as I was it was the most fun I have had playing this game in a long time. There was a slight shaking in my hands and my heart was beating fast as we flew into the match from orbit. I was with 2 random guys from LFG, and the awkward silence from match 1 had long passed. We were talking strategy (to the best of my limited knowledge/experience anyway) and the belief that we could make it was growing by the second. It didn't end the way I wanted but that's how it goes sometimes.
There is No real point to this thread other than to try and give the elite guys an insight as to why these "scrubs" play PvP or waste their time trying to go "Flawless". This game can be fun despite all the toxicity that this place is full of.

It would be nice if after you've gone flawless the first time you only get matched with other players who have been flawless an equal number of times that week. For instance, each time you queue it up if you have been flawless twice that week already you would only match against others that have gone twice. And it should be based off of the person with the most flawless runs that week. That way us scrubs like me can get matched with other scrubs instead of getting smashed by people on their tenth run that weekend.

Been trying to get to the lighthouse since y1. Have gotten to 8-0 a few times but couldnt ever get that last one. Now my clan mates are playing other games so I've just come to the conclusion that I'm not gonna get there. Have almost 300 passage coins just waiting.

52 AntwortenKudos on making it to 8-0, that's still quite an accomplishment. Sometimes you just come across a team that is super in sync with each other other and they end up destroying you. This weekend I had a pretty smooth trip to the Lighthouse on XB1 and then went 8-0 on PS4 - losing the last 2 matches. We were up 4-2 on the first and I pulled out Arc Blade thinking it was all over, then got slammed by a Fist of Havoc. It was an omen. We would lose the next 8 rounds in a row. I still love Trials even when things aren't going as planned. It just creates very interesting scenarios and opportunities for big plays. Stick with it, and keep having fun. Good luck on future runs!

3 AntwortenTrials is now shit until they go back to yr1 when it was connection based, all it is now is last three rounds players all have red bars, and before you all say"I don't see red bars and go flawless" you are the ones that are red bar champions

16 AntwortenShould I feel bad for going through trials in 45 minutes?
-
As another "scrub" pvp player let me say I know how it feels. In year 1 I had friends carry me to 7 wins and another time 8 wins. You never know, one day we may be carried to the lighthouse. I think I'll put a post on LFG titled "The Ultimate Trials Challenge" and see if 2 guardians on ps3 want to take up the challenge of carrying me to the Lighthouse. sigh. Good luck and have fun.
-
3 AntwortenYou're obviously full of shit. People who wear the scarab emblem are PvP players and we'll never be 320. Get good and stop complaining just because you can go flawless.
-
1 AntwortenCome check out vocab420 stream. Doing carries and he's using a fusion rifle and wrecking with it so! So stop by for some fun!
-
3 AntwortenAlso a Trials casual and it all seems to go well until you come up against a team of Warlocks with (its seems) unlimited grenades and radiance (dam zombies).
-
2 AntwortenBetter luck next time @mtknowl. There's some gun players in our clan that might help you get too the lighthouse if you hit them up. Try Eternity or CBS.
-
14 AntwortenWent flawless 4x over with 1 mercy used it's easy
-
Keep at it. I went 8-0 and lost a bunch of times before finally making it two weeks ago. The first one is the hardest. I have made it back two weeks in a row now.
-
Getting to "7-0" (&) "8-0" has my heart pumping like no other activity . But from people like us ..elitist don't really care . They wanna goto the lighthouse as many times as they want while we have trouble even going flawless at least once .
-
I'm with you, though I haven't made it past 5 wins yet and I went about 0-35 until I got my first win. Until that point I affectionately called myself un-undefeated. I also called my trial cards flawful runs. I'll get there someday.
-
Good for you. It's nice to see some effort being put into trials for the sake of earning a flawless passage.

The last round is usually the toughest. I hear ya though, Trials does get my heart going more than any other event. I think it'll be better if lag ever gets fixed. Literally every Trials I've done in Y2, at least one person has gotten kicked from my team no matter which connection is used, never happened Y1.
-
Trials is the funnest game mode on destiny keep playing.... I remember the first weekend it came out in year 1 I never thought I would make it but ended up making it twice that weekend and I was hooked
-
I just play trials whenever I feel like it. If I go 9-0 then I went 9-0 If I lost then oh well free passage coins. I mean I have over 150 passage coins that I saved from year 1.
-
the difference between winning in year one and winning in year two, is skill vs cheap. in year one there was some cheap crap going on, but it really just came down to who outplayed the other team. in year two it is just a matter of who can play the cheapest. some teams just hard scope doorways from their spawn. some teams run shotguns in any capacity and any scenario. both are devoid of skill completely. but...... that's what gets it done now
-
Bungie changed the matchmaking. If you are about to go flawless, it pairs you up with other teams about to go flawless. Its stupid and makes it very stressful every time you're 8-0
-
Awesome post, and well done. Gives a scrub like me some hope!
-
Add me man. I can help
-
Go ahead and add me. I will make sure you make it there.

i had 8-0 and lost

Trials can be really fun, especially if you go in with a laid back attitude. Finally helped two clan mates who have been trying to get flawless since trials returned in year 2, was awesome to see how happy they were landing in the lighthouse. I'm by no means good at pvp, all it really takes is practice, patience, and finding a rhythm with your team. Congrats on 8-0 the later rounds get super intense.
