This is not a thread to bash on 343 or the recent Halo games. I'm talking about Nostalgia.
I truly do miss it a lot, recently. I always had a blast going through CE's and Halo 2's campaign when I was a kid. I didn't even have online yet. I never had the same feeling with Halo Reach, Halo 4 and 5. In CE to Halo 3 there was just.. something that made it feel so special and good. The levels, environments, music, gameplay.. everything was so great.
Even though I never really liked Reach's campaign, I enjoyed the hell out of its MP mode and custom games. Same goes for Halo 3. I never really experienced Halo 2's online mode.
But yeah.. I just really miss those good times. Halo 3 and Reach remain my favorites for the MP mode and customs, and Halo CE, 2 and 3 are my favorite ones regarding the campaign. :D
Halo 5 at the moment, unfortunately doesn't deliver the same feeling. I still play it and can have fun.. But.. There's so much missing, like those full custom game lobbies you could always join whenever, just like in Halo 3 and Reach.

*puts on an antic disposition* 1v1 my brother. He grabbed the sniper first, but it didn't matter. I would stick him before his second shot went off. Those were the days. Haven't been that good at sticking ever since.

I am currently downloading Halo Reach to get some nostalgia going
-
God I played Halo 2 online religiously. Shame it didn't have forge! Still more fun than later releases.
-
I still like to do LAN parties of halo:CE and 2 (orignal xbox, not the MCC) with a bunch of friends once in a while. They are awesome games
-
And in five to ten years time, we will all look back on Halo 4,5,6 and just think: wow, man I miss those games. Stupid Exuberant Witness industries is ruining Halo!

5 Antworteni am getting tired of these threads we need to start looking forward and not back even how good the classic games where.

Eh, sometimes. 2004-2010 was a good era to be playing Halo online, but interests change, and I get similar fun from Mario Kart 8 and Sm4sh these days regardless. I think the biggest thing I miss from that era is the friends I made playing Halo Custom Edition. We used to spend hours playing and talking shit over xfire man.

Depends on your definition of "old". I miss Reach the most, I think I lost my interest in Halo multiplayer once 4 came out.
-
I do but I like and enjoy the new too.
-
The only time I nostalgia hard is for Nintendo and that's probably because I don't buy new Nintendo stuff. Halo and most other games are just good memories. Memories I hope to relive when 343i releases file share and I find modern remakes of Duck Hunt, various race tracks, monster trucks, etc.

The old days - when men were men, women were women, and soldiers in big chunky armour were soldiers in big chunky armour!

I have a lot of nostalgia for a lot of old games or memories, but I don't really want to go back to it. Those moments have passed.

Nostalgia is great and I loved Halo 3 MP at its prime. Reach and even 4 could be fun in MP too. Not really missing it though as I still play MCC as well as Halo 5. Enjoy the arena a ton in Halo 5 and Warzone is fun in a group. So far I have played a lot of cool customs in Halo 5 too. It's amazing some of the user creations in forge and it only came out in December. Halo 5 needs more playlists atm but it's good that infection is on its way in the future and Grifball in February.

1 AntwortenI remember when I was new to Halo... I wasn't even 10 when I first touched a Halo game. Halo CE was so fun as a kid to me, I remember being scared to walk through certain doors on Betrayal. Halo 2 was even better, all I ever did was replay the Metropolis and Arbiter mission over and over, then the Uprising mission right after. Halo 3? I was so hype when they I saw that trailer on YouTube, I got Halo 3 before I got a 360 and I kept looking through the little book over and over. Good times, and now look at what they've done to Halo... My entire childhood burned in front of my face like nothing, now I'm depending on the Coalition to do good with Gears 4, or my hope for good games in the future will be set ablaze.

The countless hours of halo 3 custom games ;_;

I'm sorry that i want to feel like a hero i don't get that feeling with halo except reach
-
I am fighting Tartarus right now in MCC (Heroic). Horribly designed boss battle. Johnson has to hit Tartarus three times with the beam rifle to knock out his shield for two seconds, and if you aren't cloaked and right behind him when it happens you'll either try to stab him right as the shield activates again or he'll just smash you into oblivion. At least with Warden Eternal, shooting him somewhere other than his back does something! I tried Halo 2 multiplayer and played for about three different games, all of which consisted of the enemy team noob comboing and ridiculous spawn camping. Didn't help that one of my teammates kept betraying me because I was an Elite and everyone else was a spartan. I have no hatred for CE, save for the fact some people are too pro for me in pistol snipe battles.

Plus reach sucks no skill

Halo 3 was awesome

I'm going back and trying to hit max rank on Reach.

1 AntwortenThe series is definitely losing the charm it used to have, nothing will ever be as good as the original 3 halo titles, imo those games fine tuned the console fps genre, set the bar.
-
1 AntwortenI loved the reach days. I would get online and have 15-20 friends playing it and there were always custom games going on. Today I'm lucky if I have 8 friends online, and most are watching Netflix

3 AntwortenFor nostalgic reasons yes I miss the old halo. Been playing since halo ce. But I like what they are doing. 343 has had some hiccups of course but all in all they are still awesome and fun. Halo 4 had an awesome campaign but week multiplayer. Halo 5 has an amazing multiplayer that's all free! You don't get that in today's gaming. But had a super week campaign. Halo 6 hopefully will perfect this and have both awesome campaign and multiplayer
