Vote for your favorite! I'll go over the old system for those that don't know/remember.
In year 1, "Light" was a separate stat found on Rare quality or better armor.
Once you hit max level (20), you needed to collect gear to get your level any higher (30, 32, and 34 were the caps for each expansion).
All legendary armor dropped at set light tiers. Normal legendary gear and vendor gear always dropped at a level slightly below raid gear, and raid gear always dropped at the current level cap.
In HoW, all legendary gear could be instantly upgraded to max light by using "Etheric Light," which is a guranteed drop from level 34 and 35 Prison of Elders each week.
Getting a legendary engram was exciting because it would decrypt into an item you could actually use, without RNG determining its level (unless Rahool gave you upgrade materials, which was not uncommon.)
A good drop could be the difference between level 29 and level 30.
You would never decrypt a blue item that was outright better than the legendary you just decrypted. Item rarity actually meant something.
Weapons did not contribute to your level, but their damage was directly linked to their attack stat.
Ghost Shells and Class Items were cosmetic items, as they should be.
Artifacts did not exist.
I like the Year 1 system better. I would pay money to remove TTK from Destiny's history.

Year 1 was goddamn ridiculous.

3 AntwortenIf you're saying year one, you must not have played in year one. It was terribad.
-
Wow, people are only saying year one because year 2 is even more of a grind even though its still better. The truth is they both suck. If we had vanity slots for armour with the new light system it would be great though.
-
4 AntwortenWhat people aren't considering when they think they like year 1 light system was setting for crappy perk/stat gear bc it was higher light, and everyone having the same look. Not the case with year 2. Level up what you like and it will be just as strong. To me that's a big improvement.
-
Can't decide between forever 29 or forever 314.
-
They only changed it to the new system to increase the grind and keep people hooked longer trying to get to 320.
-
The year one system sucked. I hated it. I much prefer this one, there are so many ways to level up and you don't need to go into the raid to hit 310.

Bearbeitet von Marked: 1/29/2016 5:45:13 AMYear 1 People thought there was too much RNG to get the pieces we need. Year 2 now even if we are lucky enough to get the drop we have to hope to RNG that it is also higher than the last piece we had.
-
I liked the Y1 system better. Forever 29 was an issue but drops were exciting. Those raid and IB drops were worth chasing. Max light Exotics literally made grown men bust a nut when they finally dropped.

2 AntwortenYear 2 is better except for the class items and ghost shells having light values
-
I like Year 1's. It had a lot more customization to it, to me. Like a piece of gear? Ascend it. Like a bond more than another? Nobody cares, wear it because you like the look. I just wish we had the same light system as Y1, and the same amount of items as Y2. Ghost Shells would be truly customizable. Class items should be just a thing to show your favorite style, not a thing to boost your light. You would also be able to bring back old raid gear, and it would be just as effective as new stuff. I also couldn't care about Artifacts.
-
I like the new Light system in that say, 290 has a significant change than, say, 280, or 285. Keeps you from getting too stuck. :)
-
The level system is much better. The loot however is garbage. You shouldn't be getting drops lower than the gear you already have assuming the gear even drops. Every ghost I've had drop has been 312 or lower. It's too much rng. Either have guaranteed drops or guaranteed higher light level.
-
Year 2 sounds better than year 1 because of bungie will lisson (hopefully) to our requests that we give to them and put them into the year 2 of Destiny and I'm looking forward to see how the new year 2 of Destiny will play out
-
Id pay just for Destiny The Taken King to be deleted from my console and that stupid 2.0 Update. I would love to play Year 1 That was the True Destiny Expirience. And for all of you who wanna cry about pvp Go play Call of duty i dont care that your garbage

Bearbeitet von Vapr: 1/20/2016 11:15:42 PMI like year two because of the fact that my level will not go down and I can still do cool stuff and wear slightly different armor sets than in year one. However, I dislike how weapons increase light level in year 2.
-
I use to love how your class item didn't affect it. Shoutout ti the first Titan mark you get and the dark below Hunter DO cloak! (My personal favs)

The idea of y2 is better, as it allows for a more sustained feeling of progression. What kills it is the horrible drop system. After almost 5 months, a small percentage of players having attained max light. That tells you something is wrong. With a few tweaks, a lesson or two brought from y1, it could be really good.

Bearbeitet von AnonPig: 1/20/2016 11:02:57 PMOh you're only 33? Yea we're kicking you. (Idiots excluded....) Oh you're only 311? That's fine dude don't worry at all. (And in the case of friends) Oh you're only 305? Yea haha you're gonna have some fun. (Assuming they're learning still) just listen and pay attention to your soundings. This is of course looking at only the Light Level system. Which is better. Not addressing the RNG system that fuels it, which isn't bad, but could use some tweaks. Mainly, you don't receive lower Light Level gear than you have equipped from endgame activities such as IB (rank five package only) ToO (silver/gold/chest only) raid.

Bearbeitet von The New Monarch: 1/20/2016 11:24:34 PMHow about a third option...I'm being very serious. Can one be edited in? Like a neutral option... I like the average of light between weapons and armor and the stats having a connection to each other. Personally, it's not light level being attached to weapons or class items that's the problem...it's the way RNG is used to determine everything in this game. RNG might give me an legendary engram and RNG can decide if that engram is a primary weapon and RNG could decode that as a hand cannon but then RNG determines the perks I get and we have to rely on RNG for it to be a high enough light level to actually start using it without needing to dismantle other gear for infusion. There are too many layers and the current system does not bother to find out what you have and give you something better...that line was definitely PR bull. It certainly doesn't respect your time if you're trying to gear up and get to a higher level. I don't care if everything carries a light level...just fix the RNG system and simplify the process.

2 AntwortenCompletely agree. I hate this year 2 light system.

Year 2 light system is better but the rewards need to be sorted out. In year 1 there were only a few events that could get you up to max level and once you had done them about 4 or 5 times there was no point I returning. In year 2, there are few rewards that are guaranteed to let you progress What they need is a reward that will guarantee progression, but only by a small amount (2-5 light). This should come from end game activities. All other rewards are rng and may allow progression as now. This means people will keep playing knowing they are moving forward, but don't finish too fast
-
The only thing that I don't like about Y2 light system is the fact that it is absolutely pointless in IB and Trials.
-
Y2 is obviously the better one But the only thing I liked about y1 was that light level actually made a huge difference Now a 310 does the same damage as a 320 There's no point for reaching 320
-
Light needs to be removed altogether if they want us to "become legend."
-
A good drop could not be the difference between 29-30. ONLY VoG gear could take you to 30. I agree artifacts are a joke and class items should be cosmetic, or maybe just be what artifacts are but no light level. This way you get still get better versions of them but it doesn't really hurt. I like the current infusion system. I think it's an upgrade from the Ascension system. The idea of a material being THE endgame is silly to me. Breaking loot into other loot makes sense. HoW was only sweet because of the ability to ascend any gun or armor in the game to that point. Assuming the loot pool only gets bigger, the infusion system is still the way to go.
