My brother is a meth addict
There's no reasoning or talking to him. He's punching walls and turning over furniture. I don't know if we should call the police? I'm afraid they will shoot him. I don't know what to do

3 AntwortenI'm actually a recovering meth addict myself, and I strongly suggest that you call the police. I wouldn't bother wasting time and energy by trying to reason with him. He might calm down for awhile but he will most likely manipulate the situation by exploiting your sympathy to get what he wants, which is more dope.. That's what all addicts do. Personally, I rarely acted ultra violent when I was under the influence.. The madness typically occurred when I didn't have any and I was craving for more. The intensity of the rage has no limits. Without some kind of intervention, the violence will only get worse. For me, it took four separate arrests over a time period of nearly 2 decades to finally motivate me to stop. Regardless of whether your brother decides to stop or not, you should still have him apprehended, as it is dangerous to you, other members of your household, as well as to himself. He needs a safe place that is supervised by professionals so he can detox for a few days. I don't mean to act like a know-it-all or lecture you on what to do. My advice is only based on my own experiences with meth addiction. I hope you're able to resolve this situation and I wish the best of luck to you and your family.

My brother and his wife got addicted to a bunch of shit, namely prescription drugs, we think she also got into heroin but we were never able to prove it because she fled town. They had 3 babies during this time. One of them is currently being raised by me (never wanted kids but we couldn't let her go into foster care). They set up an arranged adoption with the second baby, and somehow they were allowed to keep the 3rd.

Turn him into the police or tie him up and keep him prisoner in your basement till he's clean, what's the difference really? You'd probably have more fun going with the 2nd option though.

I don't know about meth addiction, but I do know about opiate addiction. I highly suggest getting him help immediately. It will only get worse, I can promise you that.

Just don't play hero, and call cops. Too many people saying "knock him out". Worst thing you attempt to do in this scenario, especially if the person is on heavy drugs and has lost the ability to reason.
