Even if you did do VoG and was lucky enough to get both the Fatebringer and Gjallarhorn, you will never experience it's true glory and form. Before TTK, 3 weapons ran pve: Fatebringer, Black Hammer and Gjallarhorn Fatebringer: if you have Ace of spades, then you kinda have an idea of what fatebringer was. If not, then it's a HC with firefly, gdlk range and good damage. Think of that, but much better. Fatebringer was a [b][u]legendary[/u][/b] HC that had very good stats. It also was the only HC to offer firefly, and firefly is a must in pve even til this day. But the firefly you see now it's nothing compared to fatebringer's. Once fatebringer delivered a fatal blow to the head, that opponent exploded, dealing massive damage to anything around it and the explosion was a mix of fire and arc lightning (I'll get to the arc in a sec). One bullet = horde of enemies dead. Seriously. The middle perk offered explosive rounds, single point sling and field scout. Single point sling was ok if you wanted to move faster. Explosive rounds was fun because of the damage dealing arc explosion, but if the fatal blow was from the explosive round, it didn't activate firefly or outlaw. Field scout is what made fatebringer really shine outside the other perks. The field scout you know today is nothing compared to what is was back then. I don't even know what field scout does now, that's how bad they nerfed it. But back then, Field scout not only raised the magazine size to 13, [b][u]it gave you more than 100 bullets in reverse[/u][/b]. It was literally impossible to run out of ammo because of all the extra bullets. Then, it had outlaw. Outlaw is a must in either game mode on any weapon. Pop heads, watch the gnarly explosions, reload [b]very[b] quick and pop more heads. Watching fatebringer reload was an amazing sight to me, idk why lol. Now we move on to arc. Sadly, in y2, bungie said -blam!- elemental primaries except Zhalo Supercell. That was not the case in Y1. Fatebringer was a weapon the dropped in the very first raid, and it had an arc element, and with arc being a very common shield in y1, [b]everyone[/b] wanted it and it was a must. With it being a HC, it wrecked arc shields, especially on a nightfall. Captains, harpies, knights, etc, all bodied by Fatebringer with [b]two[/b] shots. Also, HCs were super good in y1, especially FB. It had the range of scout rifles, really good stability, good ADS, just everything HCs aren't now. Fatebringer just felt amazing when you used it. Fianlly, to top it all off, [b][u]the name is badass[/u][/b]. This is what fatebringer was. It was a weapon created from God himself. Notice all I did was talk about fatebringer. I didn't even get into black hammer or Gjallarhorn. Those are different stories to tell.
