7 AntwortenI saw someone mention Basque below. I did a historical archaeological study on Basque shepherding camps in southern Idaho. I visited the Basque museum here in Boise and did a statistical analysis of common material culture found at sheep herding sites I've recorded, examining positive site identifiers such as tin dogs and sheers with the frequency of other common artifacts found at similar sites lacking the obvious tell-tale items. The purpose was to help identify historic debris scatters as sheep camps and differentiate them from other common historic ranching activities. There is a wonderful community of Basque people who were very friendly and helpful with the study, providing great ethnographic information. The Basque district in Boise is a beautiful area, with great food!
