Seriously. Alot of these idiots are running around saying that the glaring plot holes are their favorite part of the movie. I get that it's star wars and that had a blinding effect on fan boys but this is ridiculous. The same thing happened with the prequels except for the fact that no one was saying that jar jar was the best part. It was at least acknowledged from the beginning that he was terrible.
The Force Awakens had gotten a pass from so many critics. And many others who have accurately criticized the movie have been lambasted as being sexist or racist. Including George Lucas who has more right than anyone to state his feelings about the film. I mean they basically plagiarized the original trilogy. The major difference being that Abrams and company irrevocably cheapened the Force. They had no integrity to the plot. If you make a movie that has 6 other movies in the series (movies that they stated were remaining canon) then you have to maintain consistency with the rules of that series as established in previous films.
YOU NEED TRAINING TO USE THE FORCE.
Even if Rey had been trained as a child that still means that she was years behind in training. Even if she is Luke's daughter that still means that she and kylo are of equal relation to anakin and years behind in training. This was a political agenda as evidenced by the complete lack of subtlety in this film. Rey outperforming every male character at everything. How does she know the Millennium Falcon better than Han or Chewie? How does she even know what a Jedi Mind Trick is? How does she know what a force pull is? Rey exclaiming her independence when Finn grabs her hand. The obvious -blam!- allegory "I can take what I want." Which I knew as soon as he said it that Rey would not loose at any point during this movie. As soon as they threw in the -blam!- allegory I knew the plot was going to be contrived and the writers were going to bend over backwards to ensure that Rey was stronger, smarter, and more courageous than anyone in the entire saga.
And the most peposturious thing of all, people actually get offended when these things are pointed out and criticized. Just look at feminist media regarding Max Landis' calling Rey a Mary Sue. It's ridiculous.
It is tragic that we can't even make a movie in this society without it being contaminated by identity politics.

81 AntwortenBearbeitet von Princess Anomaly: 1/2/2016 2:26:20 AMAwww fanboys pissed that the strongest character in the film wasn't a man. Boo fūcking hoo. Now you know how it's felt being a women for the past... forever. If Rey was male none of you would be bitching about her being overpowered or whatever the hell your gripe is. Women and especially young girls need a character like Rey. She's not even a Jedi yet and she's already inspiring young girls and opening up new possibilities. You're just pissed because Star Wars isn't an exclusive boys club anymore (not that it ever was, but entitled men sure like to claim ownership over it.) Also as to Rey beating Kylo Ren, if you pay attention to the obvious shit earlier in the film it's actually perfectly plausible that she beat him. http://imgur.com/gallery/7EhqwbF EDIT: I'd also add that even if Rey turns out to be the most powerful Force user in the films, she's not even remotely close to the most powerful Force user in the EU. Vitiate became immortal by single-handedly draining the life force from an entire planet. Hard to compete with that.

4 AntwortenThe biggest plot hole is Rey's sudden force powers, now I believe this can simply be explained with the fact that the force needs balance. The force needs both light and dark to be in balance but the light side has been severely outweighed by the dark ever since the fall of the Jedi. When the force needs balance there is a chosen one, it was supposedly Anakin and now it is Rey. The force is desperate for balance so to balance the dark and the light alot of power was given to a chosen one, to bring balance. Rey had heard the "legends" so probably knew some of the things a Jedi could do and decided to test herself, and if she is the chosen one and is powerful then she'd be able to learn force powers easily and quickly.

Ah. So that's how you troll.

I just don't know how she flew the starship Enterprise?

12 Antworten
YOU NEED TRAINING TO USE THE FORCE.
Luke was capable of using the Force actively with very little training (arguably none, as it was done on the run). We also haven't seen a Force user stop a blaster bolt mid-air or so effectively use the Force as an interrogation tool.
Even if Rey had been trained as a child that still means that she was years behind in training. Even if she is Luke's daughter that still means that she and kylo are of equal relation to anakin and years behind in training.
Certainly can't argue that, but Force-sensitive people are able to use it with no training (Anakin the pod-racer, Luke's innate skills as a pilot). It also doesn't show Rey as stronger in the Force than Kylo Ren until the latter takes a bowcaster bolt to the abdomen. Sure, she resisted (and reversed) his Force telepathy, but she's the only Force user we've seen him try that on.
This was a political agenda as evidenced by the complete lack of subtlety in this film. Rey outperforming every male character at everything.
You're letting your bias cloud your judgement.
How does she know the Millennium Falcon better than Han or Chewie?
She doesn't? She only knows what the junk master did to it and can fix it.
How does she even know what a Jedi Mind Trick is?
She knew what the Jedi were, even though she initially thought they were myth. It would stand to reason that she's heard of the mind trick, and when she used it she was clearly going out on a limb.
How does she know what a force pull is?
See previous response.
Rey exclaiming her independence when Finn grabs her hand. The obvious -blam!- allegory "I can take what I want."
Reasonable response to a strange dude grabbing her hand. You're also ignoring that she broke the "STRONG FEMALE CHARACTER" mold by being grateful that Finn, Han, and Chewy came to save her. There are other things that you could be legitimately bothered by, like the fact that Finn's entire, lifelong brainwashing was undone in his first engagement without him firing a shot and isn't explained at all, or the fact that for some reason the Falcon can easily weather scraping the ground without shields and no loss in hull integrity.

Opinion: Politics: Yes, too much here Training: Yes, training is needed, even against someone injured. The mind is the most powerful weapon. (Swordsmanship, muscle memory, using force to advantage) Ray has had like little to none for saber battle techniques and force usage. She would be lucky she didn't cut her hand off. (Battle staff is not the same as single blade personally thinking) Just opinionated

52 AntwortenAs someone who knows star wars much better than you do I will try to explain the final battle to you. To start, Kylo Ren was extremely injured. He wasnt just shot by a blaster. He was shot by Chewie's crossbow. That thing was sending stormtroopers flying. Kylo Ren shouldn't have been able to stand. Plus, Ren has been emotionally struggling with the force since there was mention of his father. Just before the fight, he killed his father, leaving him an emotional and unstable wreck. Rey used simple and rudimentary swings in the battle, which should be easy because she has used a similar weapon before. She has heard stories of the jedi and their abilities. That is how she thought of the mind trick and force pull. She could pull this off because she was extremely strong with the force. This makes your rant look stupid. Next time you watch a movie, dont look at it from such a basic point of view. If something doesnt make sense, find out why. Dont just whine and complain because you arent smart enough to understand right away.

5 AntwortenBearbeitet von BLEEHOW97: 1/1/2016 11:55:52 PMFirst off, Luke didn't have training and he used the force. He used it to accurately shoot and destroy the Death Star in 4 and he used it to get his light saber out of the snow when he was hanging upside down after being captured by that monster in 5. All before he went to dagoba to train with Yoda. All he had at that point was the ghost of Obi Wan saying "use the force trust me" etc etc. And both Rey and Finn straight up said they didn't know what they were doing while flying the Falcon. They got lucky. And Rey knew about all those force things because they had just asked Han about that stuff and he was telling them that all the force stuff is true. He probably told them most of the story off camera. So yea... It makes sense

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von kyuss534: 1/5/2016 2:45:17 AMSince when do you need training to use the force? Luke never had any training in episode 4 other than blocking a few shots from the floating ball in the millennium falcon. When ghost Ben told him to, "use the force," the guy knew nothing about how to use the force competently, and yet he used it to fire the shot that blew up the Death Star. He only really received true training in episode 5 with yoda. If the highly believe theory is to be believed that Rey is Luke's daughter, then she is the grand daughter of one of the most force sensitive Jedi/sith in the galaxy and the daughter of a just as powerful Jedi. We already know bloodline makes for a good Jedi because of Kylo Ren, so why not Rey? Plus, if Rey is Luke's daughter, she and Kylo are cousins, meaning they have a direct link through the force, which would make sense for her to be able to read Kylo's mind when he was trying to read her's because that's exactly what Leia did in episode 5! Being related let her feel Luke's plight, and she knew to turn around back to bespin to help him. It wasn't just intuition, she knew exactly where he would be. Leia didn't have any training either! You don't need training to use the force, you need training to use the force well. Also, how is this movie sexist or racist? I have no idea where that standpoint it coming from. Because they have lead actors of different gender and race?

That's Disney for you. Make the two main heroes female and a minority.

Somebody is seriously pissed that the movie got spoiled for him.
I took a friend to the movie with me. Never watched Star Wars before. One of those people who always talks about how crazy fans are. He even says Avengers movies are overrated. He liked it so much over the past 2 weeks he has now watched all 6 previous movies.

traitor
I agree with you but I hate people who fall for Anomaly's bait.

5 AntwortenYou know what I don't get? How hard can it be to swing a sword around? How come people need to go through years of training to use it? Really?
-
4 AntwortenI agree with the Rey thing. Anakin was supposed to be the best. The strongest. Yet Luke was more powerful than him (yes he was holding back probably but for argument's sake). Now Kylo and Rey are stronger than Luke. Is every Skywalker kid more powerful than the last? Rey not having training and mastering everything with the force did irritate me.

The movie is called "the force awakens", as the two warring sides were dormant for a while. This is the dramatic awakening, and since the force has a will, it is likely stronger than normal because its been asleep for 30 years. No reason a naturally talented force user can't pull of a trick after several tries while the force is "awakening".

Sounds like something a traitor would say...

2 AntwortenJedi or sith can't just capture a laser blast with the force.

19 AntwortenBearbeitet von JOWDY: 1/4/2016 3:27:32 PMI enjoyed the movie in all honesty, but I can agree on the Force Persuasion... That didn't make much sense. Unless there is something that wasn't explained in the movie that could maybe glorify how se was able to do it? I love Star Wars and like any movie/game I love I enjoy reading lore.. It's a hard skill to master.

I... I never thought of it that way...

After watching so many of cinema sins videos all that i noticed was plot holes ;-;

1 AntwortenI barely even noticed the plot holes because i was just consistently annoyed at how similar it was to episode iv, right from the start.
