In the December 8th Kotaku article, bungie confirmed there would be no DLC in year 2. Bungie claimed "the pace of development in year 1 was unsustainable".

Bullshit.
Anything is possible if prioritized, planned for, and resourced properly.
Activi$ion and Bungie have simply decided they didn't want to devote the resources required. This is pure spin.
They obviously already achieved the development pace required in year 1 , right? (Assuming that the DLC wasn't just cut original content RIGHT? ;) )
They've already demonstrated it can be done, why not do it again?
Bungie claims they'd rather have the live team "surprise" players with new "free" content. (Never mind the fact that you must pay $10, half the price of dlc, if you want to keep the rewards.)
The whole point of advertising is to get customers excited about what's coming. Why the hell wouldn't bungie and Activision want to try and drum up hype for dlc, to get new customers?
The answer is simple.
They've already written off Destiny and refuse to devote the resources required.
We got to the moon, in record time, despite being woefully behind the Russians, in 1969, as a result of years of effort; due to the proper prioritization, planning, staffing and allocation of resources, by JFK.
This is common sense, from a business perspective.
Bungie and Activision are already working on the next project, to come after destiny, leaving a skeleton crew devoted to destiny.
At the end of the day, it is a corporation's job to maximize value for the share holders. That's all.
Destiny is simply not performing as well as they hoped, due to their own incompetence and bad decisions.
This is why all the good employees that made Halo have long since left Bungie. This is why Staten left before launch.
Hate on me all you like. I'm simply pointing out what is obvious to those of us in the business community.
Edit 1: Ok, so if destiny is not dying, but is instead doing quite well, then explain to me why Bungie would choose NOT to release any DLC for a whole year.
The only reasonable explanation would be that they expect to make a profit based solely on sales of TTK and... microtransactions.
Wow. If that's the case, the game surely is heading in the right direction! (Sarcasm)
Edit 2: The admission lies in the fact that bungie is not producing any major content updates, via dlc, in year 2.
That is bungie's own words in the article, linked above.
If the game is not dying, how are they going to attract more customers, and make more profit, with "free" "surprise" events alone?
Do you honestly think sparrow racing is going to pull in new players who are also looking at Fallout 4, Star Wars Battlefront, Halo 5, Call of Duty Medal of Honor Generic Shooter Black Ops 2016?
Edit 3: Lots of hate, thanks for helping this trend!
Edit 4: Evidence the game is dying:
1.) No one on your friends list plays this anymore.
2.) The lfg sites only have about 3,000 players on, during prime time, on a Friday night. Takes much longer to find/build a team.
3.) Matchmaking takes longer and 5v5 crucible matches are common. Why? The system can't find enough compatible players for 6v6.
4.) Tower is empty.
5.) Patrol worlds are empty.
6.) About 800,000 players were tracked yesterday. That's 3% of the 25 million registered users bungie claims.
So explain to me how a community at 3% of its total size is not dying.
Either bungie is deliberately being misleading with its numbers or much less people are playing the game, and that number continues to decline.
Which is it fan boys?
Edit 5: A good synthetic friend asked why bother posting if the community doesn't want to hear it.
My reply: Haha no worries.
I like to hold bungie accountable so they know some of us see their bullshit and have the intelligence to call them on it.
Not going to lie, there is also a certain amount of satisfaction drawn from the rage it induces in those that encourage the decline of the game industry, i.e. the fan boys that think microtransactions are great.
The amazing thing is most of the replies hate my post.
This wouldn't even be trending if they weren't all replying, but they can't help themselves lol.
It's as if someone having a negative opinion of something they like somehow reflects on them. How immature and insecure.

Bearbeitet von Final fantasy: 3/18/2016 11:50:37 PMI quit playing this game 2015 june 25 and tried playing again on october 13 but quit after playing for 10 minutes and havent played since then. The reason of quiting this game was because of the same boring missions, nerf of weapons, and the cries of crucible players. I havent tried TTK nor will ever buy it to try it out cuz i am done playing this game for good. Not even thinking about playing destiny 2 when it be released ( not sure if there will be a destiny 2) I do not only blame Activi$ion for this mess but also Bungie. The ones who made halo epic are no longer with Bugnie. Bungie is not the same old bungie we know anymore. Thank you all for reading my post. Now open your eyes and stop wasting your time on this game.

Fascinating, this was exactly as reported in kotaku.
-
I totally agree i put my heart and soul into grinding then stopped after they didn't announce a DLC at Playstation EXP. We got a sparrow racing league for like 2 weeks. Wait, no we didn't get a sparrow racing league U did I'm out.
-
1 Antwortenyeah i totally agree. i think bungie has just created a fan base of grinding addicts and keep pushing overpriced dlc content that doesn't live up to the hype or the price that they set for it. besides the faults with the game the community is garbage, nothing but cheaters and fanboys often both in a single package. destiny is like the 4chan of video games.
-
6 AntwortenThe truth is, destiny 1 is like the test subject for the series. Destiny 1 sets the standards and "suggestions from the playerbase" bar line for destiny 2. Why else would they make a second game 3 years after a release of a mmo when they can just add DLC's to it along the way. All really good player base suggestions and ideas that are being avoided in destiny 1 is more than likely going to be implemented into destiny 2; making it a super release of a game. They're not dumb. In fact, they're extremely smart with what they're doing.

Just so long as there's five others for me to raid with, idgaf

1 AntwortenWe never went to the moon, that was a movie set.

2 AntwortenOk I didn't finish reading but dude do you want to dlcs that'll be fun and ok or do you want a better destiny two that they can expand upon destiny two is a whole new game that's leaving old gem behind increasing its capabilities as a game I'm way more excited for a destiny two

3 AntwortenDid you read the other Kotaku article that leaked the difficulties inherent in their game engine? Like how it takes 8 hours to load a map, just so they can edit it, more time to edit it, another 8 to load it into a production server for testing, etc.? I am not defending their system. I work in IT and those hourly margins are unsustainable. I am not surprised that they are moving on to a newer engine and a newer game. Fair well to PS3/XBox 360. These decade-old systems saw some great times, but showing their teeth is an understatement. As for me, I've been playing Warframe again. New quests, always new gear, mods, maps. Beautiful engine, cinematic abilities. The game is fun for me (a bit grindy, but what isn't with most MMO's).

1 AntwortenI don't think it's dying, every time a dlc does drop my friends list skyrockets with destiny players. It's a great game just gets boring quick, I'd say the player functions fluctuate a ton.
-
2 AntwortenDoes no one read the weekly updates anymore? Next spring, they are going to reveal something bigger than TTK. No one admitted Destiny is dying, because it's not. And kotaku has been very bad about their articles lately concerning Destiny. While we may be used to other games having constant dlc for a year, Destiny is not like them. They had dlcs, and those didn't get received well by a few people, and article writers like to be a little biased about downplaying Destiny's goods. If you constantly bash what's bad, instead of pointing out the good too, the game will never get better. Positivity encourages more positive breakthroughs. Constructive criticism will help this game, but no one seems to understand how to NOT make a rage page of a single sentence about how they got killed by one gun constantly. Destiny's forum community is so toxic, it's unreal. People who enjoy the game are usually playing it. Only getting on the forums to hunt a team, or post the quickly covered constructive post. Destiny is a living world that is always changing. It's unlike any other game out there. No one knows exactly what's best for this game, because there's nothing to follow. Bungie is trying a different approach in year 2. Offer proper constructive posts, and help Destiny towards a great future instead of these posts trying to kill it. If you're tired of the game, move on. I haven't found a game since 2014 that can actively occupy my time more over a long span than Destiny. All the other games that have released have a campaign and then some mixed review bonus mode and all games want multiplayer somehow. Once they're played and the year of dlc (if there is a full year) is up, the game is tossed to the side to go on sale for people who want cheap gifts next year. Not many developers actively monitor their world, changing it every couple months, giving us new things to do, trying new things, and above all else, actually trying to do right towards the community. Maybe things in the past haven't been as transparent. But they're working on that. Also, Bungie's secrecy with upcoming dlc is because they don't want to deliver huge promises and then fail to deliver when the idea doesn't work at all. Surprises are nice. And be patient above all else. SRL was a treat. Pretty well done concept. They could e gave us atleast one more track, but they wanted to test the waters on SRL and see how the community liked it considering so many people wanted it during year 1. The new live team is helping to bring events to occupy us while the big dlc team work on the next expansion and the rest of their team works on Destiny 2. People should quit over hyping themselves. It's your own fault.

There's nothing enticing me to keep playing anymore. Don't know how much longer I'll keep playing. Used to play every day, now it's twice a week max
-
Valid points but it's from Kotaku.......
-
I agree, I've played since day dot and even match finding takes triple the amount of time it used to. Honestly like the game, it got me back into gaming pretty hard. Don't think they are retaining as much people as they would like. IMO it is getting dry, only hop on for reset and event excluding SRL

3 AntwortenI'd like to ask everyone what games are coming out with DLC 15 months after initial release.
-
They should of made all the mini bosses in the raid there own each raid spent more time on each 1 more puzzzles challanges teamwork
-
Why would they continue to make dlc for a game that is built on A. A shit engine B. A community that gripes at every tiny change. C. A quick selling ip to the highest bidder. We have already been over this a million times. Yes, bungie sold its soul to crapavision. Yes, they lied about a ton of stuff because hype and brand recognition sold the product. Yes, we know they could care less, they have already taken your money. Bungie has been taking a pretty steady shit on this game since tk launched. The only thing they care about now is squeezing you for a few bucks here and there because dance moves are easy vs actually making a game. Why sink in more time on a completely broken game when they can do more with destiny 2? When destiny 2 launches players will ride the hype train once more and this message will reappear again a year or two down the line. To remind you to NOT RIDE THE HYPE TRAIN!
-
21 AntwortenGame is 15 months old. They're devoting time to developing Destiny 2. This is a normal part of the cycle in a franchise expected to last 10 years.
-
5 AntwortenHaha says not many people were online... Yet it is the holidays. People spending time with family, vacation, being social, enjoying time away from work. Oh wow. The 'facts' in your post are backed up well. Nice 'evidence'.
-
So only 3% of registered users played yesterday? Wow Destiny is definitely dying. Not like people spent the day with their families because it was Christmas right?
-
10 AntwortenBearbeitet von Carlyon91: 12/26/2015 11:39:13 AMI always find it funny when people say 800,000 people isn't a lot. Especially for a game that is more than a year old on a day when it is Christmas so people are either spending it with their families or playing new games that have only come out recently. To me it seems that if the game can still pull in those numbers it's going to be fine.
-
4 AntwortenThey aren't releasing any DLCs so they can work in Destiny 2! I'd rather have a better game than have separate DLCs!
-
1 Antworten"Free DLC for microtransactions"- Bungie "No more DLC for destiny just timed events with added microtransactions"- Activi$ion
