Why do so many many men/boys have so many female guardians? It's not a problem. It's not wrong. Just wondering.
I logged onto Twitch the other day and watched Todd's stream. (I'm calling them Todd to protect their identity) They were doing a Vault of Glass challenge using only No Land Beyond. From close speculation, I saw EVERY guardian there was a female weather it was Awoken/Exo, or Human, (Awoken being the most popular dominating the whole fireteam). I commented, "Why do guys have so many female characters?" He replied on-stream by saying, "evanzilla, (I'm keeping my Twitch name hidden.) that's sexist and offensive." I automatically felt bad and was convinced I did something wrong so I pleaded in the comments for mercy on the streamer's behalf. Everyone in the chat said things like, "gr8 b8 m8", and "not buying it you fag.", until I was left with no choice but to convince of my truth and subbed for the streamer.
So what's in a gender anyway?
I've noticed that asking why a male player is using a female character tends to spread a lot of fire, and ultimately gets me booted from a team, or blocked/muted.
I could simply go the offensive route by saying, "Guys who have female characters want to use girls as objects in their fantasies" Or I could go the psychological route by saying, "Boys and men with female characters are having an emotional loss and are distancing themselves from real women and seeking refuge online..." BORING.
Not too long ago there were, "leaked" artistic representations of the Queen and Petra Venj "nude" and EVERYONE WENT BERSERK! It was like throwing a prime rib steak at a group of starved dogs. They were ravenous! Bungie quickly got ahold of the thread, and thank heck deleted those images.
Notice how both the Queen and Petra Venj are both AWOKEN.
Here's another generalization I could propose. "Guys in Destiny make female Awoken chicks as there players to satisfy their **xual fetishes." Now that's just plain creepy.
EDIT: Another idea says that everyone seems to like the shaders and armor on the female guardians.
The last generalization is that people just like female characters. Plain. I'm guessing one of these has to fit with most everyone who plays a female character as a male in real life.
If there's anything else I missed please tell me in the comments so I can edit the post.
CONCLUSION: So there isn't one dominant reason why. Some like the shaders, some like the armor, some like the booty, and some just roll with it. This wasn't one of those, "Guys with girl guardians are total sex whores who need to be banned" posts. It was PURELY OUT OF CURIOSITY. Thanks guys for your answers.
Edit 1: Wow guys! 50 replies in an hour, that's awesome!! Also, there seems to be a pattern of people saying the arm our looks better, and I kinda agree.
Edit 2: Holy jeez we got 200 comments! Thanks guys! Speechless. Also, people are STRONGLY saying the armor and shaders look good. Will add that in.
Edit 3: if you guys think I'm not about women you're totally wrong. Yes women are awesome, but they're not objects.
Also, an women out there with an opinion on this?
Edit 4: LOADS of people are saying they'd rather look at a girl's "*ss" rather than a guy's. I personally wouldn't look and anyone's ass and just play the game it was meant for.
Edit 5: No words. There seems to be a lot of chatter about this topic. Thanks for all your reasons why the women characters are used a lot! It helps me understand something that no one talks about.
Edit 6: Guys, I just wanna know WHY, I'm just curious as to why there is such a high pattern.
EDIT 7: This was all a survey conducted for information contributing to the thesis of my cultural dissertation. No judgements were meant to be made.

I don't have a female guardian, but honestly I think the answer is as simple as: if your a guy staring at something for hours on end, would you really pick a dude over a chick? It simple asthetics, the female figure looks better (more appealing, more streamline), both in reality and in the game.

5 AntwortenBecause who cares? You can make female characters, so I made one. ::shrug::

I think it's wierd to project yourself onto these characters. They are not you. I find anyone that doesn't understand that many of us don't make characters to represent ourselves in a game are the strange ones. Like, how sad is your life that have to make all characters to represent you? Not trying to hate or anything, I just find that train of thought to be very...well, odd. I like variety so when I made an alt, I was like, "let's make this one a girl". That was it. There was no other thought I put into it. It's actually the people who are threatened by a dude using a female character who have the issues and think about it more than anyone. Tl;dr: If you guys are spending so much time thinking about this non-issue that you have to start a thread about it, what does that say about you?

Bearbeitet von NerfPaladins06: 12/22/2015 9:09:59 PMIf you have to ask why people play opposite gender characters then you're the one with a problem. There is no "just curious" about it. It clearly bothers you to an extent. How about you tell us about your entire life, we'll pick something that we think is super odd, ask you about it, but you wont care because to you it's not odd at all. That is exactly what you're doing when you think guys playing female characters is weird. People will play whatever they feel like playing and you're gonna just gonna have to deal with it. PS: I don't prefer one gender over the other. What I play depends on the game and what kind of thing I want to roleplay.

3 AntwortenI run a female because gear looks cooler on them, and because in my opinion, smaller targets are better for evasion in pvp.
-
Dude, everyone has a weird fetish, whether you want to admit or not. Don't shame these players for something that can be loosely tied to that.
Bungie quickly got ahold of the thread, and thank heck deleted those images.
Yeah here is no way that those images stayed deleted. Nothing is ever truly deleted once you put it up on the internet, and it was bound to happen eventually. Rule 34 bro, I bet anyone who wants the pics can find them there.

I'm a male who has a female titan and male hunter and warlock. The only reason I chose a female titan is because the female body design looks more aesthetically pleasing to me. No other reason.

Bearbeitet von Joy Boy: 12/22/2015 9:06:19 PMDiversity Male Human Warlock Female Awoken Titan Male Exo Hunter Now I have both sex, all races, and classes. My question is, why do people care to look into it to such a degree? Curiosity? Bad experience? Does it annoy them? I'm asking out of curiosity?

My main is male, my alts are female.
It's his harem!
-
after reading this I have a very important question for you: who wastes a prime rib steak on starved dogs?
-
3 AntwortenBecause dat ass tho.
I don't have a female toon but alot of the guys I know that sport female toons say that lol
-
I actually feel that female characters have a smaller hit box. Just my opinion.
-
Wanted a small titan that smashes the hell out of the large bulky ones (striker) lol. My warlock is female exo cause i thought her vanilla dance was best. Simple. Also I've noticed that hit boxes on females seem smaller across bungie games.
-
Male characters look boring and too bulky
-
This topic again? Oh dear...
-
My hunters are female because male hunters are short and stumpy.
-
Meh. Why not. Just tooling around with the face generator I think I made a blonde version of David Bowie's character from Labyrinth (because I couldn't find the dirty blonde that was at all similar as his appeared in that). So I kept it. Kinda like how I tried my best to model my Exo after a Terminator (with some personal alterations) and my Awoken after a Drow.
-
Male Titans look like they're on steroids

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von McLovinxx1: 12/22/2015 8:55:34 PMYou're a bitch for subbing, but in my opinion the female awoken has the sexist default dance moves. That's why I made one but my main since day one will always be my male awoken Warlock
-
This guys has definitely not seen vanilla female awoken dance... Or human. Not much Abt the exo
-
I just don't like how bulky the male armor seems. Especially for a hunter, since they usually are a bit on the sneakier side of things
-
It's a strange thing man, I honestly can't explain the need to role play as the opposite gender. My sister does psychology, I'll ask her.

3 AntwortenBecause I'm attracted to woman.
