Raiding and Light level discrimination.
I consider myself a raid master. I love playing the role of the Sherpa and teaching the newer players how to complete the raid and what they should know. I'm a year one player who's always been a high level. Right now I have 3 sitting at 317 light level.
However recently I've noticed a large amount of light level discrimination. People don't even give the newer players a chance on the team if they are below their (a lot of the time ridiculous) standards for the raid team.
A lot of the lower level players in a few groups I'm in are starting to get extremely frustrated because the veterans won't give them a chance or won't teach them then kick them when they fail.
I can understand why you can get frustrated with new players but try to remember that at one time some one taught you how to beat the raid. If a player is a little lower bit lower but posts about wanting to beat the raid then take a moment. Give em chance and coach them through.
Destiny is all about cooperation. If you have time then give the newbies a chance. The veterans need to start being leaders and not so impatient.
Conclusion: the veterans have spoken and they make a good argument. If your a new player get educated yourself by reading and watching strategies on how to raid. make it clear you're new and listen and follow directions.
Sometimes you don't have time to teach but keep in mind that those "horrible" rewards are something the newbies would die for for.
Until bungie does the smart thing and makes vog and Crota relevant again and drop year 2 gear allowing for more leveling and practice for the new players before kings fall. You have to just be mature and educated and try to convince the higher levels to pick you up
Edit: let me make it clear, since a lot of you are so angry, that Its my opinion and I'm only trying to promote more cooperation. I understand if you don't have time to teach them, then you just don't have time. I'm not telling anyone how they should play just suggesting more patience for the newbies. I simply said fk it, because of high demands. Even on Normal people wanted you to have Touch of Malice. Yet, doing the raid and crap, is what you need to get it. I'm stuck at 299 on my hunter, because I can't get help from friends. Some even out right betrayed me, "Hey have you beat Raid today?" Me: "No. Want to find a group?" Friend: "I'm tired, I don't feel like it." 5 minutes later, BOOM, in a Raid and never asked if I wanted to join. I only beat normal like two times...

The people lower light wont take the same initiative as the lfg posts they hate and simply set up their own group with their own requirements. Thet want to avoid other low light players themselves for the same reasons we do, fast easy runs, and jump straight into a stacked team. "Oh no, look, a post 318+ hm emblem and tom!, im only 312, i can never raid again!" "God forbid i ignore it and type out my own post" And before anyone chimes in. No im not elite. Im average, but i can actually type out lfgs and set up party chats to get things done!!! Crazy i know. I also sherpa on weekends. 51 completions and counting.

1 Antworteni dont mind sherpaing newbies at all, in fact i enjoy it. butttt, i hate it when they die, not because they did it wrong, not because they forgot to do something, but because they lack the ability to not die. it irks me, there is no way of teaching this, you can keep giving tips and reminding, but you cant stop the deaths, everyone makes mistakes, but please, learn how to not die when facing high level opponents. this is the main reason i shy away from doing sherpas, that and the idiots who wont listen, i wont even start on those stupids

3 AntwortenThank you Shoes. I'm a day one player with seldom time to play for long durations (ie. Raids). I've only completed VOG, CE and PoE maybe 10-12 times total (guessing) and Oryx once. I'm seemingly stuck at 297 light. I'd love to do more raids, and heck, even Challenge modes. Or even more SRL to get to level 3 and cross fingers for RNG to drop me 310 gear. Just, time... But again, thank you for supporting us "lower lighters". Maybe one day I get a chance to run Oryx with you. Though I've completed Oryx and watched multiple How To's, I'm sure there's more to learn on strategies and techniques with the "on the job" training.

A few things: Not everyone was taught how to do the raid. Some people went in blind and figured them out and others went on youtube to learn them so they wouldn't be a burden. I get (and agree to an extent) the sentiment but the "you were a noob once" argument gets real old. Yes, I was a noob once. But when I was, so was everyone else. I don't mind helping people out but a lot of people nowadays are entitled. There are means to raising your LL without raiding. It is really asking so much for people to wait? If someone is undergeared but is ASKING if he can join the group, then I would be more than willing to that person since he/she is being considerate. Unfortunately, there are way more people out there who EXPECT to be included despite their gear and have no concern for wasting other people's time. I think in general people simply don't respect each other. People don't respect others' desire to participate in all of the game's content while others don't respect other people's time. I will admit that I should be a bit more tolerant of others' lack of skill and/or experience. But it's quite difficult to be more tolerant when so many people out there are entitled.

If I want to have a good time on oryx hard I'd say light 315+ because by then most have good weapons, and are experience. Lowest I'd take into oryx HM would honestly be 312. I'm just not the type to waste hours doing something.

Your right, if someone has time they should help. Thank you for not going around and telling people they are selfish! I have helped multiple new people with the raid, hoping to help two more this week!

the raid isn't that fun to wipe over and over. lot of people have already done that hundreds of times when the raid launched. just no interest in doing it over, i use to love helping in vog but in this one i would rather not do the raid for the week than do it via lfg

For people who are lower light levels & trying to do HM, if I were you, I wouldn't post on LFG. Most players on LFG are trying to get shit done, they're not looking to carry anyone. I know that normal mode can only get a player so far. Around 307-309 is as high as you'll get from doing normal, & that's being pretty generous. But w. SRL & Trials in the loop there's other way to get higher level stuff. Keep that mind. But, if you're level capped because you can't do HM yet, I'd suggest going to the forums & your friends list for a team. Not LFG. you've a better chance at being able to explain the situation. See if you can get a friend or 2 to play. & then hit up the forums..make a thread explaining you've been stuck at say, 308 light for awhile, & are ready to do hard mode for better loot. You'll never get higher without doing the harder content. There's a lot of really cool people in the community. & there's loads of players that would be willing to help someone through, believe it or not. Even if you can't get through the entire raid, doing a few CPs can score you some higher stuff. Generally, once you're like 312, anyone should be accepting you for HM. I think 310 is good enough for every encounter. But that's just me I guess. Good luck everyone. LFG is filled w. People looking for a quick pick up team to have a smooth run. Generally people who don't have all the time in the world to play, hence why they don't have friends to run with any time. That's generally why people put their standards. If you wanna try LFG, I'd make my own post explaining your situation. So that way players know what they're walking into. Don't sit around messaging people posting they need players.

Who are you to tell us what to do? We all live different lives, I don't have time to screw around in raids so i set my standards high when in lfg. If you want to spend hours helping newbies good for you but after 30+ completions I don't want to spend any more time than I have to in this god forsaken raid. Loot, leave, come back next week

thing is, when you say that we were all a low light level once, that was when the raid just came out. i literally stopped playing destiny pretty much right before hard came out to play other games for almost a month, for the most part. i am still 317 on my main character, and ive only gone through the whole hard raid twice, and killed oryx three times. not everyone wants to screw around in there for hours on end, so they grab up more experienced players.

Below 310 it's hard to pull your weight and can make the raid harder throughout even if you know the mechanics.

This is why I complete my raid asap and on weekend I spend most of the team show new players the mechanics.

I've been explaining this since vanilla but I guess I'll do it one more time. 1. On LFG I don't know anyone or their level of skill. I am gambling on them 2. If you are going to gamble don't you wanna choose only the best possible option? 3. Id rather have a shitty 315 than a shitty 309. Since I don't know their skill they both have a chance at being shitty. Why not choose the one who inherently does more damage and takes less damage according to the game and how leveling works? In layman's terms. Take your best guess on who is the best with the little information you're given.

3 AntwortenAnyone who sherpas a group through my hats off to you. Me and a buddy tried Saturday night to help 4 people complete kings fall for their first time and after 6 hours I threw in the towel. Not saying everyone who hasn't done it is a bad apple but I think if I sherpa anyone again it will be max of 2 noobs.

Probably not. If reading up or watching videos is now a thing to be able to Raid then you can keep that shit. It's a freaking video game, the idea is to play it and experience it for your self. Not freaking study up on it so you don't upset little Jimmy's KD ratio. Arrogance of some of this community is ridiculous.
