Yes, you read that correctly. I am deaf. I have also been born without the use of speech. That being said, I would like to share all of my "glorious adventures" with the community.
My Gamertag is as stated above, and I have been playing Destiny ever since the release of "The Dark Below".
At first, I was very confused about where I needed to go during the opening level. The first course of action I took was to leap to my death off the cliff next to where I started, unaware of what boundaries the game had, as I initially thought that I could go anywhere. I was wrong. Lol
After being stupid, I paused the menu and discovered that subtitles were optional. This saved my life. Oh, thank you subtitles.....
To fast forward things, I finally make it to Lv 32, and by that time, I was ready to participate in my first raid, Crota's End.
Due to many complaints of confusement, I have to inform you all that this was an exaggeration about the exact level I was when it happened. I just didn't want to dwell on it, but rather continue the adventure. Yet there are those whom nitpick and you can't stop that unfortunately.
It was rather difficult to find a fireteam, because I had to message them about my disabilities. This I'm sure of, is that many players of whom I requested to help me, didn't help me NOT BECAUSE they were heartless b*stards, but because they didn't want to involve myself into their raid team.
I can understand why, and that's okay. :)
So on I go, and I finally got a Fireteam. This time, I only told them that I didn't have a mic, and they didn't mind. So there I go, into the pitch-black assh*le of the Moon.
You could only imagine what it was like. Instead of listening, (since I couldn't) I visually watched them as they ran through the black, crossed the bridge, and attempted to kill the Deathsingers and Crota.
Deafsingers... Lol Get it? (That was terrible...)
Every time I would see their name disappear on the bottom right of the screen when they were facing me, (depicting that they've stopped talking) I pretended to understand, and moved my characters' gun up & down hoping they'd buy it, and what do you know? We beat Crota.
A future of many friends were found after and these friends (not to be mistaken with the raiders) knew of my disabilities after I let them know, and they didn't mind. I thank them for that. With the following months gone by, I was able to achieve victory over Atheon, Crota, and Oryx many times.
Oryx just once actually...
I'm still with those friends today and we've experienced many moments together. Not just them, but from these forums, I've seen & played with many good people on Destiny. Our community is one of both good and prosperity, and has brought together a lot of different types of people.
Kind of got off topic there.
Anyways, if you'd like to ask me any questions, just feel free to, and I'll happily answer them. Thank you and God be with you. :D
Update: The reason why I didn't want to include what console I play on was simply due to making sure I'm not hoarded with friend requests. All of which are very much appreciated, but at the same time would draw too much attention. I don't want to make it seem like I made this post due to attention. You must understand.

2 AntwortenIts always nice to actually hear good positive stories on these god forsaken forums. Helps break up all the negativity and hate... Not that you need a solution or its a problem but i had an idea while sitting at work... Voice recognition software like Dragon can let people type and operate the computer using their voice. If some one wanted, they might be able to run the software and place a remote mic in front of the speaker with the chat coming through the speaker... possibly type what the team is saying on the laptop screen?

3 AntwortenYou have immaculate spelling and grammar.

Have you ever played with another deaf person?

1 AntwortenI genuinely enjoy hearing stories like these. It's unfortunate sometimes that the forums are flooded with people that do nothing but complain or be negative. With these types of posts it ultimately proves not all Destiny players, or forum users, can be painted with the same brush. I enjoyed reading this and I'm glad to hear you enjoy this game as much as the most of us. Your story truly is great my friend.

5 AntwortenIt would be really cool if the ps4 could have like a chat with close caption, like when you talk the other person reads it on their tv screen

4 AntwortenGetting level 32 without crota and not doing iron banner? Yea, you're an attention seeking troll. Go play in traffic.

Not sure why people don't want to get involved with somebody without a mic, or even somebody with such a disability as you have? Half the time I'm in Kings Fall, I sit there not talking and saying anything. Just pick my position, or get pushed onto a different side if somebody else wants the spot I normally take, get my shit done where I am positioned, and am very aware of my surroundings. It is, again, very rare that I actually talk unless I am bullshitting around outside of an engagement. As long as you, as a player, can overcome the boundaries set in front of you, there should be no problem. Glad to see you can actually raid with a the few (and probably last) bit of this community that is actually decent.

Nicely done op. You should be proud of yourself. You gave the Raid bosses a run for their safety. 👏😀
