Yes, you read that correctly. I am deaf. I have also been born without the use of speech. That being said, I would like to share all of my "glorious adventures" with the community.
My Gamertag is as stated above, and I have been playing Destiny ever since the release of "The Dark Below".
At first, I was very confused about where I needed to go during the opening level. The first course of action I took was to leap to my death off the cliff next to where I started, unaware of what boundaries the game had, as I initially thought that I could go anywhere. I was wrong. Lol
After being stupid, I paused the menu and discovered that subtitles were optional. This saved my life. Oh, thank you subtitles.....
To fast forward things, I finally make it to Lv 32, and by that time, I was ready to participate in my first raid, Crota's End.
Due to many complaints of confusement, I have to inform you all that this was an exaggeration about the exact level I was when it happened. I just didn't want to dwell on it, but rather continue the adventure. Yet there are those whom nitpick and you can't stop that unfortunately.
It was rather difficult to find a fireteam, because I had to message them about my disabilities. This I'm sure of, is that many players of whom I requested to help me, didn't help me NOT BECAUSE they were heartless b*stards, but because they didn't want to involve myself into their raid team.
I can understand why, and that's okay. :)
So on I go, and I finally got a Fireteam. This time, I only told them that I didn't have a mic, and they didn't mind. So there I go, into the pitch-black assh*le of the Moon.
You could only imagine what it was like. Instead of listening, (since I couldn't) I visually watched them as they ran through the black, crossed the bridge, and attempted to kill the Deathsingers and Crota.
Deafsingers... Lol Get it? (That was terrible...)
Every time I would see their name disappear on the bottom right of the screen when they were facing me, (depicting that they've stopped talking) I pretended to understand, and moved my characters' gun up & down hoping they'd buy it, and what do you know? We beat Crota.
A future of many friends were found after and these friends (not to be mistaken with the raiders) knew of my disabilities after I let them know, and they didn't mind. I thank them for that. With the following months gone by, I was able to achieve victory over Atheon, Crota, and Oryx many times.
Oryx just once actually...
I'm still with those friends today and we've experienced many moments together. Not just them, but from these forums, I've seen & played with many good people on Destiny. Our community is one of both good and prosperity, and has brought together a lot of different types of people.
Kind of got off topic there.
Anyways, if you'd like to ask me any questions, just feel free to, and I'll happily answer them. Thank you and God be with you. :D
Update: The reason why I didn't want to include what console I play on was simply due to making sure I'm not hoarded with friend requests. All of which are very much appreciated, but at the same time would draw too much attention. I don't want to make it seem like I made this post due to attention. You must understand.

1 AntwortenOryx takes a lot of communication, how'd you pull it off? I assume they must have messaged you a lot

3 AntwortenBeautiful story. Thank you my friend you just made my Monday a little brighter :-) I'm so happy to see that you have been able to find a place in this Community where you have been accepted with barely even a second thought of your disability, there are far too many judgemental people in this world and all it takes is for somebody to look past something like this, to just see you as another everyday guardian and not just see something that's gonna make things harder or more awkward. I cannot even begin to imaging how hard this journey has been for you but I'm truly happy for you that you've found a decent, honest and understanding group of people to play this massively communication based game with. If you were on ps3 I'd gladly play with you Bro, I'm a pretty quiet person and don't speak much when we're raiding and it puts my team off sometimes but you don't need to talk to get things done, it helps but it's not necessary and so long as I know that you know what you're doing then it's all cool, I've always said to everyone I've ever played with....if you don't know what happening then say so and we'll explain, teach you and practice :-D stories like this are what I want in the weekly news instead of the same old sniper videos!! I want this community to see just how many good honest folk are out there instead of just reading nerf this and nerf that, facking scrubs, this is broke and suchabody's a wanker. I'm truly fed up of this community and honestly disgusted by it sometime so thank you again for showing me a brighter side to this community, good luck to you in your future endeavours and happy holidays to your clan/raid team, this world needs more of folk like you :-D

3 AntwortenThese are the stories that need to be on these forums instead of nerf this and nerf that. Thank you for sharing! Glad you hate some good times with some great people. Don't know what console you are while writing this comment but I would love to see more people like yourself out there. Good luck with your adventures!

Your mind is more advanced than most of ours, I see your deafness as a blessing. Spread the knowledge brother.

Our raid team often plays with a girl who is deaf and mute! It was very hard at first when we were learning the raid ourselves but we stuck with it! When I was on xbone through year 1 I also helped the deaf clan there is with some raids once in a while! I'd sooner people be up front with me with complications then work to get it done then have them not say anything! Way I see it is as long as you can hold your own you're more than welcome to raid with me!

I would love to play this game with you, I don't like using a Mic anyway and it's much more fun to run around with friends and goof off every now and again than it is to have to pug every time and follow specific strategies. I hate playing defender

Are you on ps4 I play with a bunch of Canadians that are amazing. I'm sure you are better than myself. Side note I had a good friend as a child go blind. My brother and I would watch the Simpsons and play football with blindfolds on to even the playing field. We even got him on top of a house via a tree in the back yard. The rents where not pleased, but he felt so good to be up there with us. Any way add me and we can defeat the darkness together

2 AntwortenCongrats it takes quite some patience to play a game all about communication and teamwork with two highly debilitating disabilities.

I feel you my mute friend

4 AntwortenI have a similar story. I was born without a tolerance for idiots. The struggle is equally real.
