Coming from a guy thats been using high impact snipers since the LDR 5001.
The main argument for "what takes more skill: snipers vs shotguns" is that snipers are harder to use because you have to land headshots. I just don't see it like that though.
The truth is that snipers are so much safer to use. You can distance yourself where you cant be killed fast by the majority of meta weapons, you can pop in and out of cover and still get kills. Even if you miss, youre safe, the same cant be said about shotguns though.
With shotguns, you have to put yourself at risk, either by pushing past the half way mark on the map, going into the other teams spawn, etc. You need to be agile and use your character's mobility. Its not easy to do. Sure, you can get one easy kill. But most of the time you end up trading, either with the guy you kill or you die by his teammate because you put yourself at risk. And in trials, trades are bad for the shotgun user, because they have to advance to get their close range shotgun kill, so the shotguns dead orb will usually be un-revivable whereas the orb that was killed by the shotgun will usually be on his teams own side, so it is usually revivable.
With snipers, you can get one kill and safely walk away. And the fact that shotguns and fusion rifles aren't as good as they used to be, everyone is now sniping, and playing almost risk free. Pvp has mostly come down to a game of pop-in pop-out where whoever gets the first snipe has the advantage. The only risk you put yourself in is getting sniped by someone else. Playing that safe should not be so rewarding.
This has nothing to do with high aim assist. As a sniper main I know nothing has changed about snipers since vanilla when it comes to aim assist. Im not "one of those guys." I genuinely believe the reason people have gotten so good at sniping recently is that everyone uses them now and we've gotten so much practice with them. Nothing to do with aim assist.
All Im saying is shotguns and fusion rifles, and even sidearms need to be buffed so they get more usage. I actually liked the HoW meta better because shotguns were extremely good but still had that risk factor to them. They could still be stopped dead in their tracks or could be traded with. Nowadays its almost unsafe to walk around any corner because there is already a sniper aimed down it at head level. I find myself hitting down on the dpad to see around the corner in third person every time I get to a corner. Its not a good meta at all. Bring back shotguns and fusion rifles!
Again, this is coming from a sniper main.
Tl;dr
Shotguns take a ton of awareness and use of your character's mobility and you have to put yourself at risk for every kill, but snipers are almost risk free to use. Shotguns didnt deserve to be nerfed and should be buffed along with fusions and sidearms to give them more usage.

Fusions and sidearms need buffs. However, now I feel like shotguns are finally good. They now reward a skilled player, and require planning and timing to get kills. They're finally in a good spot, so let's not mess that up. I agree with you on why snipers are good—they're safe to use and everyone's good with them now—but I feel like balance will be restored if fusions and sidearms are buffed so that mid range gap can be filled. That way, snipers will only be viable at long range and will get outgunned at mid range.

I wouldnt say its worse but they are both very close to each other, i didnt have mucb of a problem with it until i ran into 5 matches in a row where it was all snipers, i had to switch to my sniper to somewhat stand a chance, and even then they had all areas locked down so hard it was almost impossible to get the out The only adjustments i say need to be done are, lower aim assist across the board, make the scope sway when staying scoped in for awhile and a bit more scope flinch when shot, not a ton but more

Snipers are at a different kind of risk snipers are highly likely to lose if some one gets in close while they have a sniper out. Shotgunners can easily close most distances or find cover to either switch or wait, to me they are both risk and reward guns with different sets of skills

I think the problem isn't the gun it is it's all about how people's play with snipers, just camping hardscoping at spawn. Those games can get boring and annoying but far from impossible to beat. Watch out for sniper lanes, flank em, don't walk thru doors

12 AntwortenThanks for this post. I agree 100%. I stopped using shotguns because they are too risky now. I always sniped in year one but it was only for counter sniping. Now I'm sniping full-time, and it's just not as fun. The pace is too slow for my liking.
-
No it isn't.

Stop running into sniping lanes where you know snipers are scopes in head level. How hard is that? Jump, use cover, throw grenades. It's not hard, especially when most snipers are awful.

I still main a Shotgun. No h8 appreci8

I'm a sniper main as well and I disagree. HoW meta was thorn, blink shotgun with a blade dancer. If you didn't play this class you were underpowered. The sort of sniping you're talking about are the grandpa scopers sitting in their spawn. Sure it sucks to die to them but they have almost no impact on the outcome of a match of a points based game mode.
-
Snipers only feel this way because more players are playing defensively than ever before, defensive players get picked off easy by patient snipers

4 AntwortenYa did a few games this morning and nothing but 6 retards hard scoping. You can be shooting them in the head and they'll still kill you with a sniper. Can we get a primary weapons meta?

3 AntwortenHit them with a Mida.

Sniper main!?!? A new subclass?!? kappa

I snipe all the time and couldn't agree more.
