The SRL was marketed as taking skill and only rewarding the best sparrow drivers out there.
This is not true.
Sparrow Racing rewards those lucky enough to push someone out of a boost gate. That's it. No skill.
I'd win all my races if sparrows didn't have collision. I always have the early lead, but with the person tailing behind? They start to bump into the back of my sparrow which sends it careening off into the wild.
It's ridiculous how many races I lost to luck and not skill.
What do you think? Should collision be turned off?

I don't think it should be turned off but it deffo needs turning down a lot. Getting bumped at the moment makes me feel like I'm racing on a paper plane rather then a heavy piece of machinery. It should also do a lot more damage to the bumper.
-
If you don't wanna get bumped on a gate then form an orderly queue.

Bearbeitet von ravenvelvet: 12/17/2015 6:02:56 AMNo, because the best rewards always go to the bottom three. Let the try hards win their races and laugh at their mote of light rewards whilst you fill you cupboards with 320 helmets and class armours. That's what I do. ;)

I would win all my races if something in the game was taken away? Makes sense. I would win all my crucible matches if the other players bullets were taken away (supers and melees/swords for the smarta$$es). I would beat all raids by taking away all enemies. This is a novel idea Kadziet. You are truly a genius!
-
If pushing someone out of a gate is "luck" then getting a kill in crucible is "luck"
-
Well learn to dodge a bit more if u have the "Skill" to turn properly u will do better it is not luck lol
-
It comes down to luck only when you aren't good enough to pull ahead. Get better. Stop complaining.

Skill to control the sparrow and ran people, hit gates, racing in general.

Thank the Traveler, I only need one more 1st place win to finish that darn quest. I was literally suffering earlier with a headache because some guy was flashing on and off, lagging directly on my character. Laggers gonna give me seizures, ffs. Unfortunately, I still have to force myself to try for that one more win & lord knows how long that'll take.-.- I would've had the last win earlier today. Said I was first, but apparently someone was lagging and it hiked them up just before the gate. I'm still somewhat dead inside from that race. -.- I was excited for SRL, but.... I'm already burned out from it.
-
I don't bump anybody and I win almost every race my best is 4 in a row so far
-
I win 90% of my races. The bumping is just part of it get in the lead and if you get caught it's your follow end of story
-
I don't think it should be turned off per se. Maybe a little less extreme in most cases, but in all honesty I'm liking SRL. It's not too bad of a game mode, and definitely adds to some down time. Only thing o hate is doing tricks, because I have literally no clue how to pull one off.
-
It's all gear. Not luck.
-
I never tried to shove people out of gates, I only forced my way into gates (sorry if I killed you) and got 3 wins all in a row like ten minutes ago. I never play aggressive but do well still

Bearbeitet von OmegaPrimeHatten: 12/17/2015 4:54:12 AMQuick win strategy 1. Increase your subclass agility as much as possible 2. Equip weapons in your primary and special slots that have +2 agility 3. Be the last racer out the gates 4. Be very patient, being last gives you impossible to miss gates 5. Approach certain gates at an angle, so you boost straight and not wide. 6. Make sure you tricks when you can 7. Have fun you'll probably win more this way if you don't crash Edit: don't worry about hitting every gate agent you're in 1st, I've finished 1st hit 45-48 gates total
-
Everybody's complaining about being shoved. Meanwhile, I'm in first place and not a single shove was given. If your good, you'll get first place. That's how racing games work kiddos. Ever play Need for Speed?

1 AntwortenYes and when I drive home I should be able to drive through all the traffic so I can get home quicker

Collision is needed.

Sounds like you suck cuz a skilled person could still win whether they're pushed from a few gates are not.... Besides.. It's all about the side boost/dodge charges.. They are what matters for the sharp turns.. I'm usually in front so I don't get pushed much.. But even then... It's not hard to catch up.. The gates get bigger the further back you are so stop crying
-
Not really I skip lots and lots of gates and do fine. The trick is side boosts, if you have those the. You basically win
-
My favorite is coming in first and getting a shader that I already have and someone got last and gets a 320 helmet

I do not think "touching" should be removed, but I think "slamming" should be removed. I'm not saying I don't like competition, and I'm also not saying I've never tried to run into/dodge into/slam into someone myself (when forced into it) but I can never do these moves when you push someone off the map. No matter what I do, I don't seem to be able to shove someone off the road into a wall, maybe bump them a tiny bit that doesn't effect them at all, was beginning to think there was a "slamming" sparrow you could get from the Book. But all is all, I think fair is fair. Everyone gets to do it. However, I don't think it's skill-based. Maybe a little bit, but a lot of luck. Also. Gotta love the extra boost you get after dying. And how big the gates are if you're losing. #trainingwheels

No skill? Umm bumping and timing bumps takes skill

Bearbeitet von Ghost77: 12/17/2015 3:50:09 AMThere is skill involved, hitting corners just right setting up for turns and hitting the boosts. I sucked when I first started, I can now easily come in 3rd or above every time. There are those times when I miss-time side maneuvers and go flying in the wrong direction or blow myself up. But the SRL to me is a breath of fresh air I find it fun as hell.

Bearbeitet von jayp0721: 12/17/2015 3:48:49 AMEven if you came in first, you'd most likely get worse gear than the last place guy. I was in top 3 of all but two races today (first lots), but only once got anything useful. It's all RNG, skill need not apply. I don't mind "rubbing is racing", just would like it to be consistent.
