The SRL was marketed as taking skill and only rewarding the best sparrow drivers out there.
This is not true.
Sparrow Racing rewards those lucky enough to push someone out of a boost gate. That's it. No skill.
I'd win all my races if sparrows didn't have collision. I always have the early lead, but with the person tailing behind? They start to bump into the back of my sparrow which sends it careening off into the wild.
It's ridiculous how many races I lost to luck and not skill.
What do you think? Should collision be turned off?

8 AntwortenI don't care to brag, but your post is quite ridiculous. Over my last 41 races I've won 39. One of those losses came due to batteries expiring lol. My point being, there is skill in this event, you simply haven't aqcuired it. SRL was also never marketed as a winner-take-all event. Like everything else in this game, rewards are based around RNG. It's your fault you assumed otherwise.

Collisions should be kept. It makes for a more competitive environment. However, the collisions should actually work. I can get bumped by someone not actually trying to hit me and ill fly off the map, but when I go out of my way to hit someone nothing happens. If it were truly "skill" there wouldn't be baby bumpers like increased boost for anyone not in first.
-
Once you know how the collision detection. system works it's easy to win, sometimes I don't even realize I'm winning, I usually stop to let other hit the top 3 cause I'm just collecting helmets and bonds and I know the struggle to hit rank S is real
-
I finished my book and now I don't even bother trying to win. I race for fun while I watch tv with my other eye and collect helmets to infuse into my collection. I'm not sure I agree that there's no skill to winning, but I guarantee there's no downside to losing.
-
It doesn't even matter if you come in first. I'm rank 3 and I just came in 1st 7 times in a row while my buddy came in 5-6 7 times. I got one legendary to his 4 and he's only rank 1.....
-
Racing requires no skill in this game, it just depends on if RNG is going to make you randomly spin out or not. No skill, only luck that is the theme of Destiny after all (effing Cryptarch)
-
Destiny should be turned off.

Watch the video of the guy running the Venus track under 4 minutes and you will see what skill can do for you. The rewards however are like all things bungle....uh I mean Bungie...are at the mercy of RNGesus.

Bearbeitet von SLASHER88BRAVO: 12/17/2015 10:40:55 PMI prefer precision to aggression(NFS Shift). On my titan, i did the entire quest line c, b, a and s all in 26 races. I finished top 3 in all but 2 races. All against randoms. About half of my top 3's, i finished 1st. It's really not that difficult.

5 AntwortenLearning how to race aggressively takes skill. Clipping that gate 'just right' to nudge your enemy onto a wider corner takes skill. Knowing when to pile into a scrap, knowing when to hold off, and spotting the exact moment to make your move, all takes skill. Complaining on a forum that you aren't up to the challenge? Well, that takes no skill at all.
-
Yeah there's nothing like leading a race for 2-3/4 laps then you smack into a Hydra or a fan blade....boom last place.
-
Straight course, no turns. One lap, start to finish sprint. Boost gates and walls that will kill you pop in and out randomly in certian places.
-
The solution is to not get hit. Nobody has an unfair advantage over you.
-
I think you're a whiney baddie that doesn't know how to properly race. Sure, the gates are a little Mario Kart-esque in their design, but I've been in races where I get bumped once and hit a rock, go from first to dead last for 2 whole laps and then make it back up through superior cornering and vehicle control and come out in first with a 3 second or more lead. The people who leave in the first lap because they aren't in first place after the second corner must share your belief. How amusing.

I'd always win if I didn't have to steer
-
2 AntwortenLeave it in. It's annoying but not because it exists but because it's inconsistent. Some seem not affecrted at all while others hit a pebble the wrong way and go into 17 barrel rolls. The physics need to be consistent.
-
It's half & half, as well as one-sided. Once you get in the lead and have the skill to stay there, nobody is ever gonna pass you. But if you get stuck with the pack, good luck not finishing last.
-
2 AntwortenSKILL? HAHAHHAHAHHAHA OH MY GOD I HEARD IT AND THOUGHT IT WAS A JOKE. My god everything takes skill apparently. It's because game devs want you to think "wow i'm good at this game i'm better than most!"
you're not
-
I can't tell you how many times i went from first or second to sixth in a matter of 2 seconds because someone pushes me into a wall or out of a gate it really pisses me off
-
...why are you complaining about racing?
-
Oh and you don't even need to FINISH the race for rewards. Had a guy just do circles at the beginning of a race and you know what happened? We got random blue items with no light, this dude gets a 300 legendary helmet at rewards screen. LOL

4 AntwortenBearbeitet von Biggy C: 12/17/2015 4:10:21 PMIt's not luck. It's pay to win and here is why. I consider myself to be a good racer but I was constantly coming in third, never finishing my quest for SRL. Then, I decided why not I have a gift card and spent ten dollars on sparrows. Well then suddenly I started winning every race. Coincidence, I think not. Bungie wants pay to play.
-
this is bad but even if i am gonna get 1st place i stop wait for everyone to cross,i get better drops being last than first
-
2 AntwortenBut being bumped and recovering is a part of the thrill. Plus, who cares? RNG rewards, breh

I disagree. It's annoying, it happens alot, & I'm sure I've done it as well as you and everyone else. But it is 'racing' and its gonna happen when more than 1 sparrow is on the track. Might as well be voting for a 1000 meter dash, or single timed laps, but then that wouldn't be 'racing'.
