Respect for SRL Persisent Winners
Probably sound like a fanboy but you guys have my total respect.
I am 56 and never played any racing games until SRL but I am loving every minute of it but I have not got a clue how you guys can keep on winning at the speeds you do.
I have won 1 race up to now (and I've been playing since SRL started) but as soon as I took the lead and saw how small the gates were, it scared the shit out of me and I somehow drove across the finish line wobbling about like a demented lunatic.
People can say what they want about SRL but you guys have some serious skills.

Skipping a gate to stay on the inside can really help. Hitting a gate that just makes you go wildly wide is bad (you can try to recover with a sideways jink stick click), but don't miss too many in a row or your top speed goes down. Some I started skipping on purpose, learn which ones to skip. Also, try to go around things that will send you airborne, floating like a butterfly is bad in this context. Also, take the shortcuts. I don't know why more people don't take them. Even if they weren't shorter, they're worth taking just because there's not a bunch of jockying riders bullying for gate position all the way through an s curve...so ridiculous. The more you play, the more you learn the tricks of the tracks and the more you'll win. I'm sure this race thing will come back at some point. Hopefully with more than 2 tracks.

Highest leaderboard position's I've held for fastest race completion times was 13th and 14th, I've been bumped down recently however. If you're interested in competitiveness within SRL, I'd recommend going to the link I've provided down below. That website takes directly from Bungie's data and converts it into a easily readable and formatted layout, it's the only website that tracks SRL I believe. Happy racing! guardian.gg

The biggest help for me was when I figured out you can press down on the sticks to do the lateral boost. Yeah it's right there in the description but for some reason for over a year I missed it. Also don't be afraid to miss the gates. The boost is pretty unforgiving so if you're adjusting and aren't in proper position before the gate you could end up eating wall.

1 AntwortenThe thing about it is, you don't need all the gates to win. When it comes down to it, there isn't much difference in sparrow speeds and its really just all about the driver. The ability to maneuver the corse is what it takes to win. I usually average a little over 50 gates and I'm almost always in the top.

Im 35. I never win. I want that sparrow everybody has it except me I hate everyone that push me from gates i crashed my joypad at the wall I keep on playing ... that's how I love SRL

I hit 70+ gates a race and rarely lose. Just my two cents, not sure how this compares to the rest of the community.

You only have a few years on me... So here's a tip for us oldies ;-) LEARN the maps....And Straight lines are GOOOOOD ! I consider myself half good at any driving game, and been on Destiny since the Beta days... But on the 1st day of SRL I thought DAMM this is quick racing.... Watched a couple of tips videos on YouTube-Learnt the maps- And MOST importantly - ONLY ONE SHORT CUT. " Infinite Descent " The one on the left-The little hill through the tunnel thingy ;-) Turned down my sensitivity from 8 to 3 - That helped a little with the straight lines ;-) GOOD LUCK ;-)

I wanted to do the 15 gates in a row, so I stayed behind to not get bothered by the others. After I did it I went back full speed and won that race!? The first race I won that day, but how is that even possible, what were the others doing all that time!? Feels like lag...
