Alright, that's about enough. People have expressed their opinions, both positive and negative, and it was fun to hear what others thought about what I said (And a few about me as well).
Thanks for the response guys. Hope you all have a nice day. ^_^
by the way...does anyone know who took my pants?
Oh, and don't open the spoiler unless you want to read a giant wall of text. Be warned.
Well, first off, if you want to hate or be a troll, don't expect a response from me. Sorry. If, on the other hand, you want to have a civilized conversation or debate, then we'll talk. Ok? Good.
Alright. The new meta. AR's and Scouts. What's not to like...right? Wrong.
Bungie's made a fundamental error in patch 2.1 rebalancing: in their effort to make the game more balanced, they've tuned down a handful of things too much.
Take pulses for example. Sure you can still use them, but you're going to lose to a competent auto at mid-close range and a scout at long range. They're, at this point, inferior to these two weapon classes. And, the funny part is, we're nearly back at square one, vanilla destiny meta. Pulses are just as bad now as they were in vanilla destiny. The difference? Auto's are slightly less OP. We've come all this way, from "buff pulses we can't use them" to "nerf pulses, they're way too OP!" And where are we left? Back at square one.
Shotties? Hate me if you want, but they were fine in 2.0, for the most part. Face it. They were far more tolerable than in the past. Granted, the "felwinters" archetype (party crasher, conspiracy theory) still hit too hard, but that's fixable without nerfing the whole class of weapons. And, before you say "shotgun scrub wants his crutch back", I run a sniper, 2x snipers, or a sidearm ten times out of ten. I simply decided to never use shotguns ever again. With that said, shotguns in 2.0 were easy enough to counter if you play smart. Key word: Smart.
But the problem with this meta is mainly that, frankly, it's near impossible at this point to run an exotic that isn't part of the meta. That's something that I've only ever experienced in 2.1. I had no trouble using a variety of exotics in the thorn meta or the pulse meta...so why is there an issue now? Because they've tried too hard to balance everything, and have only succeeded in making everything else but the current meta too "balanced" (weak) to be competitive! This meta is easily the most stale and boring meta to date. Easily.
Now, before you all go saying "if X gun wasn't OP, then why'd so many people complain about it?" Quite simple.
I've said this before, I'll say it again. it's not the gun, it's the user. More often than not, if someone is being outplayed so badly that they feel the need to come and complain, then chances are they played against someone who was better than them: smarter, more skilled, or more experienced. When it comes down to that, the answer is quite simple: it's not because of some gun that you got beat, it's because the opponent played better than you. That same skilled player most likely could, and would, beat out a less skilled player with any gun. A shotgun. A sniper. A fusion. A sidearm. A pulse. An auto. A HC. A scout. They were all viable in 2.0, at least. Sure, some were better than others, but not by much. Now? Now everything's been toned down except the few weapons that would have been better by a bit. Now, that bit is a little more significant. Too significant.
And the funny thing? The "no-lifers" of PvP, the "experts"? Did you hear them complaining by the masses? Did you hear even a few complain? (Guns, not supers). Probably not. Why? Because they recognized that 2.0 was the most balanced the crucible had ever been.
And now? Now it's back to shit. Now it's time to sit back and watch as people come to this realization, one after another. We had it good, now it's gone.
Now bring the hate, bring the flamers. They'll slander me today, and find out they're wrong in the coming future.
you lost me at "I had no trouble using a variety of exotics in the thorn meta" hahahaha that is so untrue

1 AntwortenI was going to post b8, but after reading your post, I completely agree. Leave, before they eat your logic!

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von DontDinkThe8Ball: 12/9/2015 3:21:34 PMThe only problem I have sincerely with this game, after months of raging and getting used to the unbalance, the only problems I can be sure to speak for most anyone is 1) hammers, which is now being addressed, hammers have been a sure way of getting at least a 5 killstreak, Ive seen way to many matches where one hammer use has brought a team back from the brink of humiliation and mercy rule. Mayhem is a hammers playground. 2) this is a personal vendetta i have, but Hawkmoon has been my bane since year one. Thorn, no, Hawkmoon, yes. Insane killtime, almost as bad as number 3. 3) shotguns, a very mixed criteria. I have been sniped by shotguns almost to the point of giving up on this game, which I have multiple times. As a noob, hated it, as a player that can hold his own in crucible now (when Im four barring, which RARELY happens, bad lag, all day everyday) but all throughoit this games life, shotguns are hated. Theres no way to play smart, once I see someone on the radar, thats it, there is no 'playing smart'. They are literally in range of sniping me once they see me on the radar as well. Besides these, I thought the game is at least playable, AR's are still pretty useless when matched with anything else since Shotguns have pretty much the same or more range. HC are good, Pulse are still favored much by the community, and Scouts can still keep up, at least thats what i think. I love scout rifles, I main any scout.

Last night, I landed a chaperone body shot followed by a melee and the enemy lived. I hope it was just a laggy game and not the result of the chaperone nerf...

27 Antworten...everything you just said was evidence to it being balanced. A pulse SHOULD lose to an auto at medium to close range and a scout at long, because a pulse falls between the two. And it WILL beat an auto at medium to long range and a scout at short. Shotguns SHOULD only be an instant kill at melee range. Snipers SHOULD be dominating at long range. No one Exotic should rule the Crucible. No one weapon archetype should be all powerful, and no one build or strategy should either. I'm just waiting to see handcannons and fusion rifles become involved in the party, and this meta will be perfect.

5 AntwortenI'm a "no-lifer" and I think you're just full of shit. You honestly have no idea what you're talking about. Throughout the entirety of my destiny career I've maintained a 2.5+ KD, adapting to the new meta as Bungie changed it. (This doesn't mean that i only played with the strong weapons, it means I understood how to play against them) I can say though, that 2.0 was one of the worst meta games to date. People were either running around with a shotgun or hard scoping hallways with sniper rifles and pulses while those who didn't want to play the game like scrubs were left feeling a bit shit to be honest. I think you're just a little butthurt that in this state, the crucible actually requires a little more skill to do well in.

Ok, so what's the problem? Sounds like everything is finally working as intended. Pulse rifles aren't supposed to be a jack of all trades. Scout rifles SHOULD be better at long range. Auto rifles SHOULD be better at close up to the edge of medium range. Pulse rifles should fall in between the two with a little overlap. It takes more than a few hours to adjust to this many changes. Give it some time. It's all about positioning based on your equipped weapon. Know its limits, strengths, and weaknesses. I'm assuming that you're just used to pulse rifles being effective everywhere and now that they aren't, you don't like it. You'll have to learn to keep the right amount of distance between you and your enemy.

make everything op so no one complains, look at mw2 from cod

I may not be the best at PvP, but I can say that 2.0 was a fairly decent meta and with a few weapon changes, not entire class ones, it would've been a-ok.

2 AntwortenI don't think meta means what you believe it means

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von Sixclicks: 12/9/2015 1:43:49 PMThe Crucible will never truly be balanced gun wise unless they make all current guns PvE only and make you select classes with generic guns that everyone has access to. That's the only way it will ever come close to true balance. That said, I think the vanilla meta was the best anyway. The game was at least fun back then. Now it's just a constant repositioning of power through nerfing every couple of months or so. And of course Bungie always overnerfs/overbuffs and nerfs thing that didn't even need touched in the first place. Like Aclyophage Symbiote or Nothing Manacles for example this update. Hence why I'm enjoying my time in other games for now. I'll get on for events like IB or if a friend needs another fireteam member, but that's about it. I've been playing mostly Fallout 4 on the PC and also recently returned to Guild Wars 2 (also PC) after about a 2.5 year hiatus.

I agree with you
-
Crucible needed the handcannon accuracy buff and to keep everything else the same.
-
I see the point your saying but bungie is trying to rotate the meta of certain weapons from time to time and the thing your saying about one exotic is gonna be the meta every time because the gun is exotic it is suppose to be special and more powerful that's why you can only pick one
-
2 AntwortenI miss the thorn meta, there actually was quite a bit more variety Good to see the hawksaw meta go tho Welcome to the mida meta lol
-
4 AntwortenWell, I haven't played the meta but you did say yourself, the guns efficiency is up to the player. So off of that knowledge I can say that this post is invalid because the guns don't do anything without a person.

2 AntwortenToo busy playing in the SRL, I'll get back to ya in a few weeks.
-
No, pulses are still great and they constantly take me down. This new meta seems good so far, no OP primaries. The only thing everyone seems to be using is 1000 yard stare. This is just due to poor weapon design and diversity however, and I personally don't want a nerf, but we'll see how Bungie plays this out.
-
1 AntwortenStopped when your problem with the ranges of weapons is exactly how they're intended to work.

1 Antwortenyour kd 0.97 your trash opinion invalid

5 AntwortenWtf is a meta?
-
1 Antwortenthe so called META is your right choice of which weapon type you use in several maps.. so your META for Bannerfall would be a scout p.e. depending on your playstyle .. imo there is no METAWeapon anymore in this game . and in this case its ballenced IMO lets have a look on the next few weeks , maybe the best weapons will be revealed .. maybe not

1 AntwortenI vote to buff the term 'META'. I don't see it used enough on the Destiny forums.
