Alright, that's about enough. People have expressed their opinions, both positive and negative, and it was fun to hear what others thought about what I said (And a few about me as well).
Thanks for the response guys. Hope you all have a nice day. ^_^
by the way...does anyone know who took my pants?
Oh, and don't open the spoiler unless you want to read a giant wall of text. Be warned.
Well, first off, if you want to hate or be a troll, don't expect a response from me. Sorry. If, on the other hand, you want to have a civilized conversation or debate, then we'll talk. Ok? Good.
Alright. The new meta. AR's and Scouts. What's not to like...right? Wrong.
Bungie's made a fundamental error in patch 2.1 rebalancing: in their effort to make the game more balanced, they've tuned down a handful of things too much.
Take pulses for example. Sure you can still use them, but you're going to lose to a competent auto at mid-close range and a scout at long range. They're, at this point, inferior to these two weapon classes. And, the funny part is, we're nearly back at square one, vanilla destiny meta. Pulses are just as bad now as they were in vanilla destiny. The difference? Auto's are slightly less OP. We've come all this way, from "buff pulses we can't use them" to "nerf pulses, they're way too OP!" And where are we left? Back at square one.
Shotties? Hate me if you want, but they were fine in 2.0, for the most part. Face it. They were far more tolerable than in the past. Granted, the "felwinters" archetype (party crasher, conspiracy theory) still hit too hard, but that's fixable without nerfing the whole class of weapons. And, before you say "shotgun scrub wants his crutch back", I run a sniper, 2x snipers, or a sidearm ten times out of ten. I simply decided to never use shotguns ever again. With that said, shotguns in 2.0 were easy enough to counter if you play smart. Key word: Smart.
But the problem with this meta is mainly that, frankly, it's near impossible at this point to run an exotic that isn't part of the meta. That's something that I've only ever experienced in 2.1. I had no trouble using a variety of exotics in the thorn meta or the pulse meta...so why is there an issue now? Because they've tried too hard to balance everything, and have only succeeded in making everything else but the current meta too "balanced" (weak) to be competitive! This meta is easily the most stale and boring meta to date. Easily.
Now, before you all go saying "if X gun wasn't OP, then why'd so many people complain about it?" Quite simple.
I've said this before, I'll say it again. it's not the gun, it's the user. More often than not, if someone is being outplayed so badly that they feel the need to come and complain, then chances are they played against someone who was better than them: smarter, more skilled, or more experienced. When it comes down to that, the answer is quite simple: it's not because of some gun that you got beat, it's because the opponent played better than you. That same skilled player most likely could, and would, beat out a less skilled player with any gun. A shotgun. A sniper. A fusion. A sidearm. A pulse. An auto. A HC. A scout. They were all viable in 2.0, at least. Sure, some were better than others, but not by much. Now? Now everything's been toned down except the few weapons that would have been better by a bit. Now, that bit is a little more significant. Too significant.
And the funny thing? The "no-lifers" of PvP, the "experts"? Did you hear them complaining by the masses? Did you hear even a few complain? (Guns, not supers). Probably not. Why? Because they recognized that 2.0 was the most balanced the crucible had ever been.
And now? Now it's back to shit. Now it's time to sit back and watch as people come to this realization, one after another. We had it good, now it's gone.
Now bring the hate, bring the flamers. They'll slander me today, and find out they're wrong in the coming future.
1 AntwortenBearbeitet von Hot Daniel: 12/10/2015 4:19:55 PMI honestly think the new meta is the worst it's been ever. 2.0 was awesome. Things were fixed. I didn't feel like anything was op. shotties were so easy to counter, basically don't run headlong into every battle, team shoot the shotgunner, and you'll do fine. All everyone wanted to do was bitch and it was ridiculous. I can't believe Bungie caved and catered to the few players who didn't want to up their skills.

3 AntwortenThe only "competitive" guns in 2.0 were Last Word, Hawksaw, MIDA, Bad Juju, and Red Death. No top tier players used auto rifles, normal handcannons, fusion rifles, or scout rifles. High impact shotguns, and high impact/aim assist snipers were the only secondary. Solar titan gave you free god mode. I dont know what you are talking about when you say 2.0 was the most balanced patch weve seen.

5 AntwortenThe game itself is disgusting and putrid.

It, along with TLW and to a lesser extent Hawkmoon, eliminated other weapons from consideration. 2.0 was better but pulses as a weapon class had a similar effect. It may not have been as pronounced but it was still present.

3 AntwortenYour absolutely right. The game was perfect the way it was. Auto rifles take very little skill to use. Now the game is no longer competitive. I have a 2.0 k/d in crucible, and have loved being able to out strafe, or crouch shot with a pulse rifle to win battles. I can no longer do that to auto rifle users. This game no longer reward players of actual skill and game smarts.

4 AntwortenThe thing i like about the 2.1 changes is that fusion rifles are an amazing counter to shotguns. also about those pulses. are you talking about all pulses? or just a few. because lyumida got a 19.4% nerf but it did need a nerf but maybe not so much. however the suros pdx 45 still feels the same to me. The only ones that will beat the pulse ones in mid to close range are the bullet hoses and some of the mid fire rate ones. but imo i feel like it is a lot more balanced than 2.0 mainly because pulses were nerfed and autos were buffed this patch.

1 AntwortenNay. This thread shall never die!

Pulses are still viable. The hawk saw/bad juju archetype shoots 17 body and 25 Crit. That's just two bumps below average.

1 AntwortenYes. This new meta is geared more toward luck than skill, aka The Last Word
-
Past replies under this was about weapon balancing
-
2 AntwortenThe current weapons balancing is lot like Halo 4. Battle Rifles (the pulse rifle) were dominant at all ranges. Then 343 made the Assault Rifles (the auto rifle) dominant at close range and the DMR (scout rifle) dominant at long range. The Battle Rifle was supposed to be dominant at mid range but the mid range was such a narrow space that the fell behind. The reason is obvious: if you can shoot from range you'll use the long distance weapon and if you can't, you'll use the short distance weapon. What I don't want to see is a return to early in Year 1 when pulse rifles were the worst weapon and no one used them. They need to be effective at the long end of the short range, nod-range, and m the short end of the long range.
-
No one uses scout rifles. They use mida. And where are you seeing ARs? I don't see any. It's the last word, mida, and the pulse rifles. And their snipers. It's the same old crap
-
3 AntwortenMy "The Villainy" pulse previously did 33 crits, now it does 31. It used to take 7 rounds to kill: 33x7=231 Now it take 7 rounds to kill: 31x7=217 I can't stand idly by and watch this travesty unfold.

4 AntwortenI disagree with most of what you said. I don't think that all the guns are "weak" because certain archetypes don't shine above the rest, I think this just gives us the option to do well no matter which weapon we use instead of relying on the best. I really disagree with the statement about skill verse OP weapons; yes a person that is skilled will be good with anything but 2 people at the same skill level with one using a better weapon than the other will always do better. But my biggest retort is the fact that the patch hasn't even been live for 24 hours yet. It'll take a few weeks before we know what's really strong and what isn't. I think we should just all enjoy this time of not knowing what the go-to weapons are. I love variety. ----Hard Light 4 Life----------------------

Havent played Crucible after 2.1 yet, I have been experimenting with NLB and Mida, and they both did their jobs. I cant wait to use Mida and Havoc Pigeon!
