You're right about that. That said inhaling smoke from a cigarette is significantly worse for you than vaping. I couldn't care less if you vape or smoke or do neither. Acting like there is something wrong with using it to get off cigarettes is ignorant. The difference in my breathing, lung capacity, and the way i feel overall is night and day once I switched to vaping. That isn't just some huge coincidence.
