Can someone please explain this to me? I want a better connection so it's not lagging in pvp, but I already have high speed internet and my connection status says 100% signal strength. Yet, I constantly have a red bar.. I just don't understand it. Any suggestions to help out (Other than Ethernet cable because that's not possible for my setup)? Thanks! :)

Bearbeitet von The Fallen Zyzz: 12/7/2015 8:59:08 AMIt is my understanding that Destiny's matchmaking searches for players in your skill bracket before ping. You are usually going to be matched with people in different countries or continents if the matchmaking can't find enough players in your skill bracket and region. TLDR; no matter how good your connection is, you will occasionally be matched against people on the other side of the planet and your connection to the host will suffer for it.
If convenient, try using an Ethernet cable and keep your cables away from devices that cause interference. If you're using Wi-fi, make sure that there are as few walls as possible between your console and modem/router as well as no microwaves or anything that will cause interference. Light bulbs/tubes and microwaves are common culprits.
1 AntwortenAre you running other applications on your internet at the same time as you are playing destiny ?? (Computer on YouTube, downloading pr0n) I noticed during lag spikes that shutting off my wifi connected laptop seemed to help. Would recommend buying a long Ethernet cable!

1 AntwortenSo I do networking support for gaming and due to a non disclosure agreement I'm not at liberty to say who for. But what I've learned is that Wireless connections have only one positive aspect, and that's that they're convenient for not having wires. And if you're going to stick to wifi, you need the router a minimum of 3-5 feet from the console with a maximum of 40-45 feet. You don't want glass in between the signal and anything that produces a magnetic or electronic field can and will cause issues, even if it's not near the devices.

1 AntwortenHave you considered turning it off and back on?
-
Have you opened up all the recommended ports?
-
It's going to be packet loss and latency that cause problems. Signal strength is important, but anything above 60 percent doesn't make a noticeable difference. Hard wire and you will have no problems. I never do.
-
Wifi = lag The end
-
Bungie servers and trash 100% of people can't tell the difference!
-
er don't use wifi for a game that relies on split second timing. Use a wired connection, and if you can't consider using a powerline adaptor
-
4 AntwortenThe majority of the time it's just the sheer 'awfulness' of bungies servers. Not too much that can be done
-
Someone else in the lobby could be causing it. Your connection to the host console could be bad. Player to player connection is the worst for pvp
-
On Xbox you can do a speed test not sure on Playstation. Check your settings to see if it's a option.
-
3 AntwortenSignal strength and internet speed are two separate things. This just means the console is receiving 100% of your crappy Internet.
-
1 AntwortenGet a better package and increase ur speed
-
Red bar doesn't always mean you have crap internet. You can have the best speed available and still show a red bar every match. You can also show a red bar and experience zero lag too. That's the annoying part of a P2P setup as opposed to dedicated servers
-
2 AntwortenThe host guy is lagging and you are lagging because he is lagging.
-
1 AntwortenNot being wired it's probably your biggest issue. Since you say that that's not possible your only other options is to upgrade your modem and router, and do your best to make sure nobody else is on the Wi-Fi while you're playing including going as far as shutting your phone off.
-
3 AntwortenIf you're using Wi-Fi it can be tough. Do you have a home computer that's wired directly to the router? What you'll want to do is check your QoS (quality of service). Basically you can set your router so that xbox gaming is the priority for your router, allowing you to experience less lag. Signal strength isn't necessarily the most important factor, as mine usually hovers around 60%. It's more about the other traffic. So if others in your house are using a direct connection they could be affecting you.
-
4 AntwortenI would have periodic issues and it was because of the old router. I replaced both the modem with a high speed Motorola and a very nice Linksys router. I haven't had any issues since.
-
1 AntwortenIt sounds like: Signal strength is your lan strength. Red bar is measure of quality of that signal. I.e. Your network connection from your console to your router is good, but your connection from there back to the net is shite. I'd do some testing on the up/down times, and see if you have noise on your connection.
-
2 AntwortenI see the same problem. And I'm on fiber. 1000Mbps rate. I think it's depending on who the party host is. If they are red, then everyone is spotty.
-
Why is wired connection not possible?
-
1 AntwortenWhere do you see the red bar at in game maybe I'm a newb but I've never seen where to check my connection to destiny?
