After a hundred something hours of Fallout 4 got to lvl. 91 and beating the game on very hard difficulty I didn't feel the same drives to playing anymore. I cleared over half the map. Sure I can invest another hundred hours or so exploring everything but I feel no incentive to do so. I spent a lot of time lvlin' up and being totally over leveled and after beating the main story I don't feel like playing anymore. It's a shame really such a good game.
I think this is really a problem I been having with these heavy story driven game. Once you hit climax it is all downhill from there. There many other great game that I have not completed because of this reason. Like Mgs V, DragonAge Inquisition and Witcher 3 for examples. I would spend all my time playing trying to perfect everything and become super OP. It might sound weird but I didn't finish these games because I don't want them to end, basically I'm afraid of beating them lol, because if I don't beat the game the it technically never ended and all my hard works didn't goes to waste.
Edit.
I think destiny really hit that sweet spot for me. After you maxed out everything the game still have things to drive you forward. Even though one would say that the contents is repetitive. So far I have sunk over 3000 hrs hours into Destiny across all my current guardians and the one I have deleted, the most I have in other games was 600 hours (Guild War 2 and PoE). Also I really like the social aspect of Destiny. I have made some great friends while raiding and playing crucible, that's something that never really happened to me in other Online games like Guild War or CS. Overall I have no regrets about spending so much time I Destiny. I know many others feel the same way. It's good that November come around and bring so many good game, we need a break to do different things, but I'm sure we'll be flocking back to Destiny once we done with other games.
Edit 2
After seeing a lot of post here I would like to say that I'm not comparing the two games, they're completely two different type of game. People are saying that I should do everything possible before proceeding forward. Sure you can go back and do everything and it would offer you countless more hours of thing to do. Well it is like having sex, you have foreplay, intercourse and then finally orgasm. There just no endgame contents. Once you blow your load you can try fiddling back in there but then it feel like a chore. Lots of fun to have but once you’re done, it’s time to go to sleep. On the other hand destiny is like a sport. You trains then you play and in the end rains or shines you want to keep going. If you win you want to stay at the top so you keep grinding, if you lose you can quit or you get back in the grind and shoot for the top. I have a very competitive nature so that’s how I think, if you don’t agree with me I can respect that.
See you around fellow Guardians.

1 AntwortenHow do you have so much time on your hands?

2 Antwortenlots of hours and that's a good thing! Doesn't end is the best thing about Destiny and good time to come back as lots of new guys in the tower!

First I agree with ya. Thats great you found a game you enjoy. Isnt that what gaming is about. Having fun. Whether you spend $10 or $100 on a game. As long as you have fun doing it. Mayb make some friends along the way. I made alot of friends through playing COD over the years that i still game with. Me personally i could never understand why people only get stuck playing one game for hrs and than they complain about it lol I know the feeling of a game not wanting to end also lol I have done what you have done. I always hav my main game i play but i also play many many other games. Not cause of being burnt out but because i enjoy diffrent games and their stories. Some were fun some where horrible. Destiny has turned into my main game this year after 6 yrs of COD being my main. Too bad most gamers dont venture out and play alot of games also not jus one.

Great post! I especially agree with not wanting a game to end! That's the worst part! While people will complain about Destiny, the fact is there is a lot of fun that can be had. At least with Destiny, for some of us anyway, we can enjoy the grind and repetition because there's usually something there at the end, even if it's taking someone through the raid for the first time or doing something silly in a daily mission. That doesn't appeal to everyone, but I love that each time I play Destiny, there's something different about it. Destiny is a different game, and it's going to rub a lot of people the wrong way. It's not a perfect game, but man, I do enjoy getting on for some Destiny when I can!

I felt this way about console games as I got older. Then I found PC gaming and rediscovered the gaming obsession I had as a youth. MMO, strategy, and indie titles are deep enough to keep my interest for long periods of time.

This is why I chose to make fallout my secondary game not my primary welcome back

3 AntwortenI see where your coming from. And honestly, my stance differs in the fact that with rpgs, I tend to play 3x. 1st time, I go through with what I THINK would be the best character loadout. Read nothing about the game. Just listen to what it tells me, and pick skills accordingly. (Right now I've wasted quite a bit of time by not understanding the leveling system for the first 5 levels. But now at 23 I'm on top of it @25 hrs.) 2nd time- afew weeks after finishing my first game. Its pretty much a speed run. Taking all the info I learned and the vast knowledge of leveling up and the best perks to pick early in the game and just trounce the game. 3rd time - and this is usually where I just put the game down halfway through, is a challenge mode though. Try a completely foreign combat technique. Whatever I would do, do the complete opposite this time around. I can see how this fallout will feel like a drag to redo everything (like rebuild your cities), whereas the others were specifically skill based. I'll probably fall back to destiny if they put out new dlc's in the coming months, because it's mad addicting, however I don't feel the need to be the best. I don't do trials, I seldom do any iron banner (usually hit rank 5 with one character and call it), I've done hard mode up to oryx multiple times, but I'm not willing to see oryx pop his head up more than 30 times in one night. Needless to say, I'm happy with where I'm at, and as a kid I would play Sim city 4 for weeks on end without getting bored. So at the end of the game, I'm hoping there are crazy raids on my cities where I get to build up defenses to the point where it's insane and could defend itself. (I've yet to have one attack) But at some point I will be back on destiny, because I always come back to it.

Pretty good metaphor for why destiny will live on over other games

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von OnlyAlfredo: 12/2/2015 1:27:00 PMThis is such horrible logic. You don't want to beat the game because all your hard work would be a waste...what? That makes the opposite of sense. And you said it's sad that after 100 hours on Fallout, you're burnt out. That means you payed less than a dollar a hour for the game. You got your money's worth. A $60 game that gave you more than 60 hours of play time is well worth the purchase.
-
I do the exact same thing. Level and grind to an overpowered level lol. When its time to continue, I lose interest and never beat the game
-
1 AntwortenJust bought the witcher 3 actually. Extremely disappointed this far. Controls are weird, but adaptable, but the combat is atrocious. I'll never understand how people actually liked it.
-
I'm with you on never completing these games so that they never end... I play games for the experience of playing them. I never want to start fresh, and play through the story again taking different options (for one, I can never remember my first options). I can't bring myself to do "antihero" runs of games like Fallout either... So I play as many sidequests as I can find and push as close to the final main story mission as possible and then quit and play something else - usually something with a lot of PvP. Fallout 4 at least has the settlements to keep you occupied, but there is only so far you can take that before it is self sustaining and needs no more input...
