There's nothing really to worry about. People need to find a way to boost their ego :) So they'll hate on everyone to feel good about their pathetic insignificant lives! There's nothing you anime fans should worry about, there's just some pathetic judgemental morons out there. Please, when ever someone judges you for doing something you like, remember this comment, as you're having fun living your life and there's others who are so pathetic they need to judge you :)

It's human nature to hate what is either misunderstood or simply too different from what's considered "socially acceptable". Also stereotypes, and yadda yadda yadda...you get the point. People who vehemently hate others for trivial reasons aren't worth the time of day, live your life in whatever way is satisfactory to you. As long as it harm no other, you have no reason to feel ashamed.

Just my experience, but I always felt that anime fans think is themselves as "mature" or something, but anime is pretty cool (some of it), I recently got into One Punch Man and man, crazy shit.

Cause the more prominent figures stand out. And for anime that figure tends to be the fat, greasy, pimply, fedora-wearing neckbeard. In the same way that we think of lumberjacks as burly, hairy men in red flannel, American anime fans are seen as unsightly weaboos that have forgotten the shape of the sun.
