In America so many people shit on Bernie Sanders for being a socialist (not that I like him). But our government could most certainly benefit from certain, but not all parts of socialism. I think America is filled with uneducated idiots who associate socialism with bad things because they don't understand what it is. Not trying piss anyone off here but why or why don't you like the idea of socialism
Edit: I just want to clarify I believe that the perfect government has policies from both socialism and capitalism.

Bernie sanders plan is technically it's own unique plan that has never been used before. There is no precedent in history that it can accurately be compared to.

Communism = socialism in some people's heads

37 AntwortenThe problem with socialism, is that eventually you run out of other people's money. It doesn't work.

Socialism is fine for small, less populated countries. We could never afford socialism in the US because we are already in so much debt and too large to sustain socialist practices.
-
Once again communism does not equal socialism
-
This is a very particular American hang-up, no doubt proof of the power of decades long propaganda
-
Because it sounds similar to national socialism and they get confused.

What's a socialism?

Communism stems off as a radical form of socialism.

2 AntwortenSeems like many Americans think that socialist = communist. Funny that the big business in America is so pro capitalism until they're out of cash, then got the biggest handout from the taxpayer in history.
-
2 AntwortenBecause it's the latest political buzzword for people to freak out about. That's literally the only reason. I bet there isn't 5 people in this entire thread who could properly explain socialism, communism, and capitalism without a trip to google first. Sure doesn't stop people from raging about it though!

1 AntwortenBecause those "undereducated idiots" you mentioned that work at McDonald's and make their living saying " you want fries with that" will make the same as a starting buisness man with a real job

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 11/20/2015 6:59:04 PMWe need to practice moderation. Strictly socialism or strictly capitalism doesn't work. Strictly anything usually doesn't work. I think we're slowly leaning toward the latter right now. But we won't do anything about it until it gets really bad, because that's generally what humans do.

Bearbeitet von Taskforcem85: 11/21/2015 1:44:30 AMMost people in America support socialism they just don't realize it. I think after Sanders recent speech people will begin to understand it a bit more. Edit: Here it is if you guys are interested. One of the best speeches he has ever given.

Here is Sander's full speech from Thursday. After reading the whole thing, go ahead and tell me what parts, if any, sound unreasonable. http://www.vox.com/2015/11/19/9762028/bernie-sanders-democratic-socialism

1 AntwortenBearbeitet von EetnoAni: 11/21/2015 2:53:27 PMIt's a lack of understanding. Socialism has a close stigma with communism from my experience with talking with folks. And it's a severely negative stigma. In reality there's a lot of grey. If you enjoy your clean water or roads. Or even work (directly or indirectly) in any federally or state funded capacity. Or still have a LAN line phone not operated by Bell. You are enjoying aspects of the government that are in fact socialist. It's a sensationalist buzz word for those who don't know its definition and like to point a finger at something. That goes for the left who demonize capitalism as well. Lack of understanding. Edit: or if you went to, or your kids go to socialist public school... Public schools are necessity IME. That is all.

11 AntwortenThe problem isn't socialism, it's that socialism forces people to participate, and if there's one thing that defines Americans, it's that you can't force us.

I'm my eyes, it's stealing from others to give to those who don't deserve what they're given for free at the expense of those who were robbed. No matter the use of the money.
No debates. I will NOT be responding to anyone in this thread. Take it as you will, I'm not looking to get into a debate about this bullshit.
