On a serious note: when infusing gear, you have the option to use equal value light level gear for infusion IFF (if and only if) it's also trials gear. I had an unlocked piece of gear that was ALSO the same light level as the gear in question that did NOT show up in the infusion prompt. Not a big bug, most people aren't stupident.
