Congrats Yr1 players.
I envy you. I really do. You ppl got to play when things were good. Back when your loadouts looked like this:
PVE loadouts:
Elemental primary from Raid
Good Shotgun
Gally
PvP loadouts:
Any primary
Good Shotgun
Gally
I really am jealous. During that period, you didn't need alot of weapon parts, materials, strange coins or motes. 3 great weapons was all you needed.
I started March of this year. The struggle for materials is real. Since TTK dropped, loadouts have changed dramatically. There are no great weapons. Zhalo Supercell is a joke as are all of the auto rifles. Since that is the last remaining burn primary. You are left with situational weapons. Most weapons are good for patrol. You have to have Villainy, Hawksaw,or NTTE and 1000yd Stare/Eirene with decent rolls to compete in PvP.
In PVE, there are so many situations where weapons change depending on what event you are participating in. The Raid requires a good scout, good sniper and at times both a good MG and a good launcher.
See what I'm getting at here, Y1= 3 weapons needed. Y2= different combos of about 10 weapons needed. It's no wonder all us poor bastards have no weapon parts/materials.
End rant.

Edit: I wasn't trying to put anyone down or anything. Please don't be negative. :)
Edit: On a side note, why bother grinding. There aren't any great, stand out, can't live without weapons that exist in Y2. Am I wrong? If you think so, tell me what is and why!

Destiny lost it's "magic" by changing so many things with the in game "economy". I didn't mind the grind year one, now it's getting tough to stay interested.

U should have been there when Suros and Vex Mythoclast was the most OP weapon out there. Vex would 4 shot in the head and Suros would 5-6 shot someone

3 AntwortenPvp heavy was always Truth or it should've been not gally. Gally was pve weapon not pvp but of course I've seen some outcasts (read amateurs) using it in pvp ;)

6 Antwortenlol.. who used gally in Cruicible? takes up your exotic slot. Gotta use that for Thorn, Red Death, Hawkmoon, etc. Most pvp loadouts were: Exotic Primary of choice shotgun or final round spear launcher with prox. det with tripod and jav or a decent lmg.

You know not of what you speak, I could tell you of a time when there was nothing but the suros regime in the crucible, I could tell you of a time when Guardians did lap after lap of the Rocketyard labouriously opening chests in vain effort for spin metal to get the recharging ammo perk for icebreaker, I could tell you of a time in a flawless raid attempt where Atheon glitched out and randomly wiped everyone, but I wont. The golden age was not so golden............and then the darkness came........and the darkness was called Thorn!

It wasn't as fun as you think in year 1. The forums were 10x worse than right now. Bdobbins everywhere. Somehow people managed to complain about striker. (Ironically, the same people complain about sunbreaker right now). Lots of RNG complaints. I didn't get fatebringer until February or March. I didn't get gjally until june. The only good things from year 1 were my experiences, smoggypluto, and lore posts.

I needed a lot more weapons parts as well as many other materials back then. It's much better now.

Nobody used ghorn in crucible but the people who bought it from xur the 2nd time around

1st of all for pvp: it was always suros, thorn, TLW, red death that's the trending weapons everyone used

If you used Ghally in PVP yr1 you were a scrub. Beside I like yr2 better than yr1 We get to turn in bounties on the field.. gotta love that!

Ya. Year 2 doesn't really have that "wow" weapon except maybe for the exotic swords. But there are still some good weapons to use. I've been rolling with tread upon the stars and 1000 yard. I'll switch it up every now and then with a hand cannon for close maps or a pulse. Heavy is always the sword cuz it's my highest level heavy. Truth 2 is great for pvp. It was my choice for a long time til I finally got a ghorn drop in a nightfall.

Auto rifle and fusions rifle nerf and hand cannon buff..... Primary: thorn, TLW Secondary: long range shotgun Heavy: scrubs with rockets and horseshoes, or people who knew what was up with a good high impact low rof heavy machine gun. End of year1 / TTK: age of the pulse/sniper Trials players switched to the truth more than gally but that was the only time they came out.

But we are not as well we lost all of our favorite weapons like fatebringer and ghally
