So, I'm sure we're all familiar with the infusion system and the frustration of getting higher level drops.
I propose that instead of depending entirely on RNG to infuse gear to higher levels, allow us to infuse our gear higher using ONLY weapon parts, glimmer, marks, and motes.
Instead of waiting for that 320 chest piece, you could infuse it up one defense level at a time. That way, there is still an option to grind (yes I said it) for higher light levels - except instead of hoping for a high drop, you can guarantee progress as long as you have the materials.

250 Glimmer
10 Weapon Parts
1 Mote of Light
3 Legendary Marks
1 Piece of gear of a higher Attack/Defense level
Keep this system, add an option to infuse up by small increments (3 at most)

1-2 Legendary Marks
With this, it's still more efficient to get higher gear from RNG, but there is still a path that guarantees progress. Infusing up using higher gear still costs more, but it also prevents people from feeling cheated after infusing up one or two light levels with the current system.
