Most of my "hardcore destiny" friends are leaving and this is why

The reward system in the raid. I know the hm raid is only out for 3 weeks (loot drops anyways) and the drops are a complete horrorshow to put it mildly. While we all did 7 to 9 completions (on 3 characters) with rewards together we have a huge light level difference. While I am 317 now the rest is around 313ish. Most of my team are at the breaking point now for this. Not seeying anything usefull drop when we do the raid on all 3 characters is truly a misprogrammed rng system. Lets analyse it for a bit: General: why drop items that are lower light than you currently have? - seriously who thought this was a good idea? Different perks? Oke but drop that at a higher light level...thank you. Moldering shards - who needs them for a extra roll? Improve your rng instead of this crap. Hardmode Why drop normal mode items? - again why would I need those and who thought this is what players would want or need? When I am ready for hm I dont need normal stuff anymore. If the idea is to keep players playing...come up with some better system. Here are a few ideas (I came up with in only a few minutes) Moldering shards - let players use it to infuse their raid gear (say 10 shards for 2 or 3 light on a single piece of gear) - let them trade it in for the piece of gear that isn't dropping for them. (100 shards for a helmet for example) Drops - let these be of use. Instead of giving a player a 320 gun straight away let them get a 310-315 first. After that make it drop from the last lightlevel to 5 upwards. - remove lower light items from the loot table for that player. As I stated above. Our clan played Destiny alot and we have a large group of players who pretty much do the raid multiple times (even when we got our rewards) every week to help eachother and randoms out on hm completions. But I honestly tell you that this lootdrop system is destroying this game now. Its not the fact that some players are way higher in light compared to others. Its the fact that they complete the raid every week and most of the time don't get anything for it at all. Yes its rng and yes people play it for fun....but how long will this remain fun...... EDIT WOW 1500 replies in only 2 days!!! It looks like a lot of people are feeling the same way about this. The vast majority shares my opinion in this regard. Some do not agree and some don't seem to understand why this system is worse than VoG and why. I included an example were I explain how this rng works without making it to complicated. This is why I think this rng is badly designed: This rng is designed to NOT give you the things you need and let me explain to you why. These numbers are not official but I want to illustrate my point here and I am not factoring in different perks for simplicity here. Example: Boss 1 can drop the following items: Sniper 300-310 Machine gun 300-310 Rocketlauncher 300-310 167 slots of moldering shards without a weapon roll This loot table has an outcome of 200 posible rolls (33 of which have a weapon and shards) 3 x 11 for the weapons and 167 shards to create an even 200 rolls You are level 299 when you start the raid. Basicly 33 out of the 200 rolls are usefull to you right? Every weapon is higher than what you have and thus "usefull". the chance of you getting an usefull item are 16.5 % to be precise Lets say for argument sake after 3 raids you got the sniper, machine gun and rocket launcher all at 305. Every weapon has 11 posible roll right 300 to 310 that's 11. But you are 305 with those weapons. So 300-305 are not any (immediate) use to you. What is left for every weapon is 306-310. That's 5 usefull rolls per weapon. With 3 weapons this makes 3 x 5 is 15 rolls that are usefull to you. 15 out of the 200 posible outcomes are benificial to you. That about 8%. So the higher you get the smaller the chances are for you getting actually what you need. The old VoG was really simple in this regard. You simple got something or not. The odds were the same for everyone in the team. Hope this clears things up a bit. And thx for this amazing feedback guys!!!!

  • Lost half of my team after our first HM completion. Soon as we discovered the primaries didn't have a burn, they quit and haven't come back, other two are leaving on the 10th, Over a yr of playing together and having a blast is now over... This needs to be fixed

    • I hear that. Before hardmode I had 13 completions, never got a single heavy weapon drop. Then after the bullshit non lvl advantages in iron banner I finally gave up on destiny. Day 1 player, 9/10 the highest lvl in every lobby. I always held on n held on waiting for the next dlc hoping there would be incentive to want to be high lvl for pvp (IB and trials). I never had a problem completing trials, over 30 flawless runs, just never saw a distinctive advantage. Destiny is about equality, but I always strive to be a higher lvl. I dunno. Just got tired of always being let down.

      The raid loot system is horrible, sadly i doubt Bungie will do anything substantial to fix it before the next expac/sequel. With Fallout 4 on the horizon i can say without anger or bitterness that i'll be shelving Destiny for a good while. Which might not have been the case if the drops weren't completely soul crushing.

    • I agree the loot system is broken. But its the people i keep in my fireteam that make this game fun. For example of broken loot system. Highest faction rank 60 do. Lowest 36 fwc. No ship on any of them. Not even all the shaders. And at rank 60 do it gives me a rocket launcher at 280... good good

    • I too have decided to quit after my last three Nightfalls on Tuesday. Fully deleted the game from my HDD so my destiny addiction is finally over lol It feels quite liberating to be honest. After almost 14 months of playing pretty much everyday to play other games and not be thinking I need to get on for today's bounties or other stuff is a good feeling. Can't wait for Fallout 4 and CODBO3 and I'll give Halo 5 a try and oooo Battlefront 3 too..... So many amazing games. Don't get me wrong Destiny was a great game but the game it is becoming is a poor version of its original self. Bungie are making silly, crazy and sometimes even ridiculous choices. The lies are also becoming too much. I'm sick of this fairytale world Deej lives in with his updates and comments too and bungie never gives us what we want. We have DLC's that became obselete as soon as the next one came out with the House of Wolves. Glitches that never get fixed with glitches that should never have gotten past testing. This isn't an MMO that you pay monthly for therefore the game should be a fun game where we get to play the way we want. Not be constrained as though the gear we attain actually matters in a persistent world etc. There is no true PvP that matters so we shouldn't be forced to play PvP for quests or weapons. Overall the game Destiny is now isn't the game we wanted it to be. A 10 year plan bungie claims!!!! Yeah right. Every year we start from scratch with weapons so basically it's a modular add on game where expansions don't truly matter when the next comes out. We have a story that makes no sense and hasn't been expanded on since the original game came out as all the DLC does is tell a mini new story and even then the DLC isn't even original. We've visited the Hive twice in two expansions. What about the Cabal!!!! Anyway loved destiny. And it was good while it was fun but the grind for nothing has become too much.

      • I miss the simplicity of "I'm light level 30, 31, 32, 34, and my guns are 365." Why did everything have to become stupid? How can this new system even be defended? LOWER LEVEL drops for HARD mode. HARD...MODE... That's like doing Crota in Year 1 and it giving you some blue armor. Whoever coded the randomization algorithms in TTK really need to reset their range to only include your light level and higher, OR go back to the simple levels. Why do we keep getting these messed up versions of a game? Level 40 should be our light level, or they shouldve made the cap 40, then progressed our light level to 50 like the old days. Pretty simple. But no, they want us to mindlessly GRIND. I want to play and enjoy, not grind.

        • All I wanted is a straight answer from Bungie. But it will never happen. Day 1 player here. 4745 Grimoire 520+ Raids I'm about to give up because of the loot system in the hard mode. It's unfair, it's wrong. I completed hard King's Fall with my 3 characters in very chance since deployment. The amount of 310 hard mode gear I get or 2 mouldering shards is ridiculous Bungie, you know before deployment that your loot drop system is unfair and you will upset the player base. You guys are not stupid. So why keep on doing so many silly "mistakes" incessantly for over a year? Why?

          • OP is absolutely correct. Our clan has a ton of fun in the raid until we kill the boss and it's loot time. The mood instantly goes from happy and fun to depressed and bitchy. That is a huge problem and bad development and it's causing many to simply move on to other games/activities. Getting hard to even fill a raid due to lack of interest now. Fix it, Bungie.

            • What are you hoping to get once you reach max light? The hm raid that you can already complete at a lower than max light will be slightly easier for you...

              • Since hard mode released I have had the sniper drop 5 times, chest 3 times, and arms once. I gained THREE levels since hard released. Smh

              • Bang on. I got to 316 in the first week of hard mode and have since then completed hard mode 6 times and not increased my light on my main character. I have currently sat in my vault the following harrowed items 317 chest 317 chest 318 chest 315 chest 311 chest 311 chest 318 bond 317 bond 315 bond 313 bond 311 bond 315 ghost 314 ghost 311 ghost And many many many more weapons and gear between 300 and 312. Now I know this is good to have because I will be infusion it onto trials gear and exotic gear. However I only ever drop the chest and bond and normal weapons which are pretty much useless now. It definitely doesn't feel random to me !

                Agreed. I'm fortunate enough to be on xbox so for the time being H5 is my main. Im holding out faith that the devs will fix the raid loot because as of right now I don't see any reason to grind. [b]I really find the no burn primaries to be a let down[/b]. Yes the raids are fun and Ive done them plenty of times just for the fvck of it, but I cant even tell you how much of my raid grind was devoted to guns like VoC, Mytho, Fatebringer, Fang, Black Hammer etc etc. I still love destiny more than any other game, well there's Titanfall too, but I will be gone from here until destiny gives it's vets a reason to play again.

              • However, the bad RNG system keeps the game from being completed too fast. Which is a good thing and a bad thing. It's good because it keeps giving you something to work for instead of every thing being handed to you on a silver platter. It's bad though because it makes any reward you get feel inadequate.

              • true im done with destiny as well they just take the grind to a whole new level and i was down for it in yr 1 but now its dumb. halo cod fallout battlefront are coming out and some will be out soon they did it so we wont play those games but its sad to see everybody will play those games and destiny will fall so bad and fast unless they release something crazy but i dont think so like the grind is good but not like that when ppl are not getting good drops like niightfall they said they fix it but i got a 290 ghost wtf is that lol but it could be the end of destiny for now untile destiny 2 or a good expansion comes out idk anymore

                • It just kills me that the light system, something I loved going into The Taken King, is now coming back and biting both my friends and I in the booty. I feel like it undermines that whole feeling of "Oh wow, I finally got this raid drop!" and instead turns it into something akin to "Oh wow, this raid drop is lower light level. Eugh," or "Oh good, more infusion material." I love the raid weapons, but I just have no drive to use them because most of my existing weapons are just straight up better, at least in terms of primaries. I think the Sniper is beautiful, and I'm in love with both of the heavy weapons, but my god do I severely dislike the Fusion Rifle and Shotgun, and most of the Raid Primaries. It's just...not the same experience getting raid drops and materials anymore, and I'm not quite sure how I feel about it.

                • This is my exact view. Not sure what they were thinking with this drop system. It's the same for trials. Both end game rewards have been messed up. It's worst than "forever 29" of VOG. This is almost insulting. Why re-run the same thing over and over for no reward. It should be consistently growing in rewards to keep you aiming for the top. It's a shame because I like the new raid and I like trials but atm I rather spend time on halo earning req' points to unlock booster packs (which btw looks at what you got and never gives you a duplicate permanent unlock)

                • Out of all the dlc this on had the best story and mechanics and quest out of all of them..... But it was the shortest lived one since the rewards they give are not worth it and he grinding is worse than ever with the reduction of material gain and the new light system. For some reason it feels like they really took a step in the right direction with this dlc but just like the past updates and dlc they also took several steps back. Even with all the feedback we have given over the years they take some of it and actually do it but then change the things we were already ok with for some reason like they are trying to offset the step forward intentionally.

                  • This is a common frustration with my Clan as well. While, none of us are 313+ , the fact that after multiple NM and HM runs, gear will just not drop for anyone. When they do, they're at lower Light than what we already have. Exactly as you said it, a lot of them are taking breaks from Destiny playing Halo 5, Minecraft, and waiting for Fallout 4. Some of them won't even bother accepting party invitations anymore since they see us playing Destiny still. That's how burned out and salty they are towards the Loot System. Sure, it's RNG and that's just how it is. I'll keep playing despite how flawed it is. Even worse than before.
