The reward system in the raid.
I know the hm raid is only out for 3 weeks (loot drops anyways) and the drops are a complete horrorshow to put it mildly.
While we all did 7 to 9 completions (on 3 characters) with rewards together we have a huge light level difference. While I am 317 now the rest is around 313ish. Most of my team are at the breaking point now for this. Not seeying anything usefull drop when we do the raid on all 3 characters is truly a misprogrammed rng system.
Lets analyse it for a bit:
General:
why drop items that are lower light than you currently have?
- seriously who thought this was a good idea? Different perks? Oke but drop that at a higher light level...thank you.
Moldering shards
- who needs them for a extra roll? Improve your rng instead of this crap.
Hardmode
Why drop normal mode items?
- again why would I need those and who thought this is what players would want or need? When I am ready for hm I dont need normal stuff anymore.
If the idea is to keep players playing...come up with some better system.
Here are a few ideas (I came up with in only a few minutes)
Moldering shards
- let players use it to infuse their raid gear (say 10 shards for 2 or 3 light on a single piece of gear)
- let them trade it in for the piece of gear that isn't dropping for them. (100 shards for a helmet for example)
Drops
- let these be of use. Instead of giving a player a 320 gun straight away let them get a 310-315 first. After that make it drop from the last lightlevel to 5 upwards.
- remove lower light items from the loot table for that player.
As I stated above. Our clan played Destiny alot and we have a large group of players who pretty much do the raid multiple times (even when we got our rewards) every week to help eachother and randoms out on hm completions.
But I honestly tell you that this lootdrop system is destroying this game now. Its not the fact that some players are way higher in light compared to others. Its the fact that they complete the raid every week and most of the time don't get anything for it at all.
Yes its rng and yes people play it for fun....but how long will this remain fun......
EDIT
WOW 1500 replies in only 2 days!!! It looks like a lot of people are feeling the same way about this. The vast majority shares my opinion in this regard.
Some do not agree and some don't seem to understand why this system is worse than VoG and why. I included an example were I explain how this rng works without making it to complicated.
This is why I think this rng is badly designed:
This rng is designed to NOT give you the things you need and let me explain to you why.
These numbers are not official but I want to illustrate my point here and I am not factoring in different perks for simplicity here.
Example:
Boss 1 can drop the following items:
Sniper 300-310
Machine gun 300-310
Rocketlauncher 300-310
167 slots of moldering shards without a weapon roll
This loot table has an outcome of 200 posible rolls (33 of which have a weapon and shards)
3 x 11 for the weapons and 167 shards to create an even 200 rolls
You are level 299 when you start the raid. Basicly 33 out of the 200 rolls are usefull to you right? Every weapon is higher than what you have and thus "usefull". the chance of you getting an usefull item are 16.5 % to be precise
Lets say for argument sake after 3 raids you got the sniper, machine gun and rocket launcher all at 305. Every weapon has 11 posible roll right 300 to 310 that's 11. But you are 305 with those weapons. So 300-305 are not any (immediate) use to you. What is left for every weapon is 306-310. That's 5 usefull rolls per weapon.
With 3 weapons this makes 3 x 5 is 15 rolls that are usefull to you.
15 out of the 200 posible outcomes are benificial to you. That about 8%.
So the higher you get the smaller the chances are for you getting actually what you need.
The old VoG was really simple in this regard. You simple got something or not. The odds were the same for everyone in the team.
Hope this clears things up a bit.
And thx for this amazing feedback guys!!!!

8 AntwortenI suffered through the Forever 29s with everyone else, but the way loot is set up now is even worse in my opinion. Things were black and white back then. You either got what you needed, or you didn't. Now there's another RNG wildcard. I need a helmet. The odds of getting that helmet are low enough, but the odds of getting that helmet at a Light level that helps me? Damn near zero. I haven't played Destiny in 36 hours and I feel great.

Bearbeitet von -Air51-: 11/5/2015 6:33:28 PMI totally agree with everything the OP says but its a shame because i look forward to shooting stuff with my auto-pulse rifle, its just im bored with nowhere to go now. Idont see the point in games that gear u up in the raid you're already high enough to be on and yhen theres no open world, dynamic wildlife like guildwars 2 that aggro each other and can be used to take down mobs much higher than u could normally. Theres nothing outside the raid.

Bearbeitet von mjbailey50: 11/5/2015 5:25:23 PMIt's the non element primarys that got me. It feels the whole game is a test " Operation let's see how far we can push our players" . Activision failed with their greedy Call of duty elite subscription service. I know Activision and Bungie are a business that makes ALOT of money but remember they are NOTHING without us...a little respect would be nice.

5 AntwortenLove getting mostly shards and normal mode gear in hard mode. They should at least be a guaranteed drop at 310 if they are going to drop
-
5 AntwortenI agree to a point given i still have light lvl 300 boots but, to overhaul the drops is overdoing it. I do however hate doing oryx hard and getting a lvl 300 scout rifle and 2 shards and if im lucky a 305 ghost

Dude u said it . Hope some of them knows how to read this. but second thought I dont think they care a lot about what we have to say anyway. so my pick : BAttlefront and Fallout ...bye bye destiny !
-
Agree with all. I'm not saying I quit the game....but...it's been weeks since I've played. Playing the raid is fun, the first half dozen times. Then it's a grind to get the stuff you want. When you don't get it by week 6, of relentless play....well...wtf. this isn't fun.
-
Fallout or Black Ops Take your pick!

I'll agree with one thing tho: something's gotta change. Running thru the raid & getting Jack Schmidt (even with 20 moldy shards) is way too common even in my experience. Just raise the % a lil

Bearbeitet von Zoom In: 11/5/2015 5:26:43 PMThe drops came be god awful at times. I've had hard raid runs where I've gotten nothing but shards until I beat oryx

1 AntwortenDestiny is the Candy Crush of consoles. Now, Activision is complete.

4 AntwortenLet me ask you all this one question. If you had access to all weapons, gear, and Items in Destiny would you enjoy playing it? Or is it only the fact that you feel like you need to get the stuff you don't have that keeps you hooked on this game?
-
I agree with all of this. I have done alright in previous weeks and infused all of my gear to 310 before even starting Hard, but for example this week, from 3 hard mode completions, I got a total of 1 gear upgrade on just 1 character - boots from 310 to 313. It's immensely frustrating and really needs to be looked at. Not quitting the game by any means, but I'm driven to play a whole lot less as a result.

2 AntwortenThought you were gonna say "Fallout 4" lol.

Dismantle the normal raid weapons and gear to get materials and upgrade the higher loot. I dont see the problem....

6 Antwortenthe drops are a "Horrorshow"!? Compared to VOG, there is no comparison. Other than trials, nothing is over 310, meaning there is no difference between 311 and 320 according to how the light level system works with damage. Stop making these whining threads, took me 23 VOG clears before a single piece of raid armor dropped for me, not even close to the KF drop rates
The reward system in the raid.
if thats why his not going to play his a
!@#!#
8 AntwortenI don't quite agree to your reasons but I understand why I am not playing as much and some of my friends agree. Destiny year one allowed you to play how you wanted to, me I like to be safer rather than super aggressive. The raids and quests seem to have moved to require a play style that I don't do well at quite frankly I don't want to play that way, a good example is the black spindle, you have to play at a high tempo to get it done. The same is true of the ToM to some extent. The raid is also the same, high tempo time boxed bosses is not so fun. I will not even mention the problem finding a group that does not quit hard mode at sisters.

Bump about loot system
-
6 AntwortenI dont care about loot. I enjoy getting on the raid with friends having laughs and just messing around. Games never ever get old if you play for that and not to win
-
1 AntwortenYeah, I know what you mean. I usually get at least one decent drop per raid, but a friend of mine ran it twice yesterday and only got moldering shards. No joke; he started screen shotting it after a while. Him and a few others are getting on less and less because of this. I still have fun with it but my friends list seems to be getting smaller and smaller now.... I've also have yet to get a primary weapon to drop from hard after at least 7+ clears.
-
5 AntwortenUm, did you even vault of glass bro? Get out of here with that entitled bullshit
-
You're basically setup to leave the raid pissed every time. I have yet to be happy still no primary weapon drops.
-
1 AntwortenI'm in the same boat. The raid loot is bad. If someone at Bungie played the raid every week they would agree. Light level is not earned at all since the guy who was dead the whole time gets a 310 armor price at every chest and I get -18 shards and a 300 fusion rifle and a 300 ghost (true story) oh and my Titan has gotten 12 sets of boots from normal and hard mode and no other armor. That's annoying too

November will kill destiny. With the loot system artificially extending the games life there is no point in doing the raid and in consecuence no end game experience. Better than crota but still no better than VoG and they decided to keep it obselete. Congrats bungie you have tried a lot and finally you have succeeded in ruining the game. Making all year 1 equipment earned with so much effort useless, not introducing old assaults in the lists, microtransactions, the loot system, court of oryx so wasted, ruining trials of osiris, nerfing everything for the crying children, nightfall also useless.....Thanks for the effort with ttk but its not enough.

Fallout 4 nxt week. Time to move on
