The reward system in the raid.
I know the hm raid is only out for 3 weeks (loot drops anyways) and the drops are a complete horrorshow to put it mildly.
While we all did 7 to 9 completions (on 3 characters) with rewards together we have a huge light level difference. While I am 317 now the rest is around 313ish. Most of my team are at the breaking point now for this. Not seeying anything usefull drop when we do the raid on all 3 characters is truly a misprogrammed rng system.
Lets analyse it for a bit:
General:
why drop items that are lower light than you currently have?
- seriously who thought this was a good idea? Different perks? Oke but drop that at a higher light level...thank you.
Moldering shards
- who needs them for a extra roll? Improve your rng instead of this crap.
Hardmode
Why drop normal mode items?
- again why would I need those and who thought this is what players would want or need? When I am ready for hm I dont need normal stuff anymore.
If the idea is to keep players playing...come up with some better system.
Here are a few ideas (I came up with in only a few minutes)
Moldering shards
- let players use it to infuse their raid gear (say 10 shards for 2 or 3 light on a single piece of gear)
- let them trade it in for the piece of gear that isn't dropping for them. (100 shards for a helmet for example)
Drops
- let these be of use. Instead of giving a player a 320 gun straight away let them get a 310-315 first. After that make it drop from the last lightlevel to 5 upwards.
- remove lower light items from the loot table for that player.
As I stated above. Our clan played Destiny alot and we have a large group of players who pretty much do the raid multiple times (even when we got our rewards) every week to help eachother and randoms out on hm completions.
But I honestly tell you that this lootdrop system is destroying this game now. Its not the fact that some players are way higher in light compared to others. Its the fact that they complete the raid every week and most of the time don't get anything for it at all.
Yes its rng and yes people play it for fun....but how long will this remain fun......

WOW 1500 replies in only 2 days!!! It looks like a lot of people are feeling the same way about this. The vast majority shares my opinion in this regard.
Some do not agree and some don't seem to understand why this system is worse than VoG and why. I included an example were I explain how this rng works without making it to complicated.
This is why I think this rng is badly designed:
This rng is designed to NOT give you the things you need and let me explain to you why.
These numbers are not official but I want to illustrate my point here and I am not factoring in different perks for simplicity here.
Example:
Boss 1 can drop the following items:
Sniper 300-310
Machine gun 300-310
Rocketlauncher 300-310
167 slots of moldering shards without a weapon roll
This loot table has an outcome of 200 posible rolls (33 of which have a weapon and shards)
3 x 11 for the weapons and 167 shards to create an even 200 rolls
You are level 299 when you start the raid. Basicly 33 out of the 200 rolls are usefull to you right? Every weapon is higher than what you have and thus "usefull". the chance of you getting an usefull item are 16.5 % to be precise
Lets say for argument sake after 3 raids you got the sniper, machine gun and rocket launcher all at 305. Every weapon has 11 posible roll right 300 to 310 that's 11. But you are 305 with those weapons. So 300-305 are not any (immediate) use to you. What is left for every weapon is 306-310. That's 5 usefull rolls per weapon.
With 3 weapons this makes 3 x 5 is 15 rolls that are usefull to you.
15 out of the 200 posible outcomes are benificial to you. That about 8%.
So the higher you get the smaller the chances are for you getting actually what you need.
The old VoG was really simple in this regard. You simple got something or not. The odds were the same for everyone in the team.

I'm pretty much done. Destiny just isn't fun anymore. There's no point to the raid, except to get raid gear, for the raid. Meh.

I'm a year one player and have been playing (grinding) ever since. I will also stop playing when black ops is out. You explained it well and I have also a lot of friends who are leaving

2 AntwortenComing from a guy who's played Destiny since Day 1, the game has become an irretrievable mess. Level 29-30 were the days. Honestly, those were the days. Those were the days that you were driven to play and get the Mythoclast or Ghorn or Thorn. Now, post-House of Wolves, Destiny has fallen off balance in regards to loot systems and gameplay. Fallout 4 and Star Wars Battlefront are going to drown Destiny. Once Destiny is drowned, Activision will pull out its whip and crack it at Bungie developers to spew out more content to revive the audience. As a year 1 player, I won't miss the post-HoW Destiny and I will have no regrets when I barely touch Destiny in the approaching future.

It can still make it a grind, but at least you'll feel rewarded. I've had many friends leave destiny for halo as well. That was one of their biggest complaints.

1 AntwortenYup... just made another post about this crap. Finished hard mode again yesterday, and what do I get? Gauntlets of 311 (already have 314), and the NORMAL MODE F';ing Auto rifle at 303, and NORMAL MODE F'ing sniper at 304. Yeah, GREAT FRIGGIN REWARDS FOR YOUR GAME on HARD MODE (not to mention GOT CRAP shards the whole way through before Oryx, and Normal mode drops). This is the kinda stuff that makes people wanna quit you know. You said it yourself Luke, "We wanna make the game feel more rewarding" Well you tell me then, if this crap happened to you, would that feel rewarding? SMH, so frustrated right now.

3 AntwortenThis game isnt about rewarding your efforts. Its about keeping you playing as long as possible. Which also means keeping you doing the same 5-6 things over and over again to reach some goal that'll be moot in 3 months. Why drop items that are lower light than you currently have? Why drop normal mode items? Because it keeps you coming back for more which results in more hours played that can be reported as a metric for success. Its that goddamn simple.

7 AntwortenI agree with most here that the HM loot systems sucks. I wouldn't even mind If I only went up 1 light lvl per raid because at least I would be making some progress. At present you can run the whole raid and be no better off than when you started minus the shards !!! in what other game may I ask would you finish the end game material and come oof worse than when you first started it. Bungie you first messed up the NF which is my opinion is still broken as nothing will drop over 310 and now the HM raid is fooked. I am getting bored fast !!!

Day 1 player here. My fireteam is in the exact same position. We've been running HM raids 3+ times each week since VoG, but this new Kings Fall loot system is busted. 3 - 6 more HM raids with no drops, or lower level drops than our current gear and my team will stop playing to focus on other games (we have nothing left to do but HM). The rewards for HM completions are so limited that its not worth it. The worst part about it is Bungie wont listen, they dont give a shit. This system was designed to extend our grind... At least Fallout 4 and Battlefront are out in the next 2 weeks. Get ready for the number of active destiny players on your friends list to drop considerably...

The rewards for the Kings Fall raid HM is very disappointing. Luckily other games are coming out right now to help occupy my time. I enjoy Destiny but get frustrated when I complete hard mode and didn't increase my light level any, or in the best situation increased my light level 1, from 311 to 312 if I'm lucky. Just seems like the reward to complete a raid should be worth the time it takes to do it.

Preach Bungie really thinks that when your raiding and somebody else gets all the drops for doing the same, sometimes less work that that drives people to raid more to get those drops? Wrong, it's demoralizing to the players that raid on all characters every week hoping to get a drop above 313; while they watch other players on the fire team constantly receive 320 drops even when that person is dying a lot or getting less kills....makes people realize how unrewarded they are being for spending sometimes multiple hours to only receive some -blam!-ing moldering shards that may give them an extra 300 cloak....

Yep they lost me too. Oh well...I stayed for the promise of a better game that never materialized. I even ignored Bungie-Visions deplorable treatment of their talented staff. Carried on after they deleted my vault in year two. Even paid for the extra guns in year two that never showed up and kept playing. 2 Antwortenbungie, you devious geniuses. thats the best way to keep players playing. a system where you can get anything from 310 to 320, so many options! you can play week after week and never run out of rewards. its not the most fun or fair but its the only way to reward people but still leave them wanting more.

8 AntwortenI suffered through the Forever 29s with everyone else, but the way loot is set up now is even worse in my opinion. Things were black and white back then. You either got what you needed, or you didn't. Now there's another RNG wildcard. I need a helmet. The odds of getting that helmet are low enough, but the odds of getting that helmet at a Light level that helps me? Damn near zero. I haven't played Destiny in 36 hours and I feel great.
