There will be no free DLC. Microtransactions and DLCs will be the new thing. No new strategies announced. Source: Gamespot article will link it soon

Edit: Many people saying that it doesn't specifically say that the paid DLCs will come back. Well let my friend Coyote X Starrk put it more obviously on his response
Destiny's microtransactions and paid expansions are both selling well, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg said on an earnings call today, November 3. As such, Destiny players can expect to see more of both in the future.
Thx to Coyote X Starrk for clarifying this

5 AntwortenBearbeitet von Malovi: 11/3/2015 11:37:46 PMI'm not sure why this is surprising or even upsetting to anyone. Not once did Bungie or Activision say or even imply that micro-transactions for emotes would replace paid content between full releases. Nor did they say that the revenue from micro-transactions would do anything beyond expand their 'live team' to allow for more events (events does not equal expansions) You are in no way obligated to spend any money on silver what so ever and if you choose to because something catches your eye than what right do you have to be upset with the supplier of the exchange of goods that you chose to participate in? (especially when you can preview everything before you buy it) Games have been a virtual marketplace long before Destiny, why the outrage now? If you do not see any value in the in-game offerings.. don't buy them. Same is true of the DLC - if you do not see enough bang for your buck in a given expansion, you are not obligated to buy it.. Yes, we've seen that not purchasing expansions likely will gate off certain activities to you (at least temporarily or on a semi-frequent basis), but you are armed with that knowledge too before you make your decision and are free to change your mind and go out and buy said expansion at any time should your opinion of the 'bang for buck' equation change. This will come as shocking to some, but other forms of entertainment (movies and television) require you to pay for content too.. its crazy, I know.

5 AntwortenWe were NEVER told we would get free DLC. In no shape or form were we informed we would get free DLC.
-
Oh no you mean I have to pay for something that other people worked on and get paid to do so!?!? What is this world coming to!! Get over it people nothing is free nor should it be
-
2 AntwortenOh LAWD you kids....it's not like you're paying for it. Would you rather pay monthly sub? It's not my fault you guys a used 3oC and found every freaking exotic in the first two weeks. Destiny is a GRIND folks......when you run out of stuff to grind you get bored. How many games have an expansion every 3 months? The only one I know is EvE Online that has micro transactions and monthly sub. They have never charged for an expansion. You kids do realize that Bungie is a business.....they stop making money they go away. Right?

Activision is making insane amounts of money. The Skylanders game, Jesus Christ . They are brainwashing the future generation with it

4 AntwortenThey just said there gonna add more microtransactions, where does it say no free dlc?
-
I'm the 1000th reply! Now praise me...

1 AntwortenNot surprised that Activi$ion was the one to come out and say it.

111 AntwortenBearbeitet von Coyote_x_Starrk: 11/3/2015 9:12:20 PMOkay seriously enough is enough people. I see the fanboy defense force flooding the thread with "NOTHING IS DEFINITIVE BRUH" AND "iTS PURE SPECULATION". Just -blam!-ing stop. Its pathetic.
Destiny's microtransactions and paid expansions are both selling well, Activision Publishing CEO Eric Hirshberg said on an earnings call today, November 3. As such, Destiny players can expect to see more of both in the future.
Its in the first -blam!-ing paragraph already. You idiots need to sit down for a second and remember to think for your -blam!-ing self and stop blindly defending every asinine decision that Bungie/Activision comes up with. Every single time a new article comes out showing just how horrible Bungie/Activision is treating you the fanboys come out and defend them like a battered wife defending her abusive husband. Its disgusting.

I would love a free raid and strikes. Then noone could bitch and whine cuz it's free !

Bearbeitet von Aulakauss: 11/5/2015 7:38:57 PMI don't mind paying for new content. It'd be dumb to expect otherwise. However, for god's sake, make versions of the Vendor gear with different models (use the old ones for all I care) and have them rotate and give us back some of the 'normal' Exotics from Y1 for free. I generally have yet to be impressed by any of the new Exotics I've seen. I'm also tired of either having to look like a voodoo priest or having to wear a faction flag on my chestpiece to look decent. They touted this DLC as doubling the existing content. It did, but they failed to mention that the old content would be made almost totally pointless in the process.

15 AntwortenWhy is it that people keep forgetting, Bungie is a business. They have to make the money to keep up the work. Do you not understand this? Get. Over. It. You can't have everything handed to you, this is Life.
-
I don't mind that. Its time for Destiny to settle down. No more expansions. Just for Destiny 2 to be in progress. As for the in game events, that's still a nice thing to keep the game playable here and there
-
Bearbeitet von Dezzie19: 11/5/2015 6:09:51 AMOnly thing we will get for free is more micro transaction promotional 'events' i realised it straight away. They may throw in an odd reskinned gun to get on old content, or an odd mode or map thats it.

Who cares, welcome to gaming now. The amount that everyone plays this game, they should shell out $20 here and there. If you're that poor in general, maybe video games isn't your best financial decision.
-
I see no one has addressed the fact that they say he said that and manage to say this directly after:
The analyst specifically asked if Destiny was changing its business model somewhat to favor microtransactions over paid expansions. Hirshberg didn't respond with anything definitive.
-
yes but hopefully these turds buying silver make them enough money that our next dlc will be $30 not $50
-
10 AntwortenSome of these people need to swallow their pride and admit this is greedy. These fanboys are so caught up in defending their purchase they refuse to see the writing on the wall. Bungie will do anything for a quick buck. Telling these people it was silly to believe their dances would fund anything meaningful is pointless. They'll flex their butt muscles and scream they're buying more microtransactions just to spite us. Good job guys.
-
3 AntwortenGood. I'd rather pay for good dlc than get shitty free dlc
-
7 AntwortenThe Festival of Lost Souls is what you'll be getting. Bungie said microtransactions will support the Live team. The Live Team doesn't build maps, they don't develop weapons. They facilitate events in the game world. Don't blame Bungie or Activison for this. Blame the gaming sites who brewed up this mess. They are the ones the put this "news" out there.
-
Bearbeitet von Spaceman: 11/5/2015 12:50:15 AMI'd like to thank all the idiots who spent real money on your dumb dance moves and emotes. You set the precedence for Destiny and future games to sell us crap. No longer can you play the game and get the best reward... now the best items will be saved for purchase only. Yes, it may just be aesthetic, but before I could play the game and get that black shader, well now... if you think they won't save that exotic black shader for the market... you're dead wrong. $10 it'll cost you.
-
9 AntwortenThats okay, I'll be playing Fallout 4 anyway

5 AntwortenBearbeitet von Zeeznutz: 11/4/2015 7:30:37 PMActivision is currently working on a deal to purchase Websters Dictionary so they can remove the word free

But they said ten people buying emotes would pay for everything!

1 AntwortenI think they can and do coexist ( however not in destiny) also I like how they felt the need to say "Activision says''
