Maths question: Black Spindle vs 1000-Yard Stare
In the hard raid with some fellow LFGers earlier, doing Golgorath on my alt. My light level was 310 and I was using a 311 1000-Yard-Stare. My Black Spindle is only 295 light, hence why I wasn't using it. The Fireteam leader kept yelling about how we should be using Black Spindle because it does crazy damage and we wouldn't waste time reloading, and was getting particularly frustrated at me for not using it.
My question is: Was he right to? Even with the light reduction I would take by equipping the 295, would it still do more damage than the 311 Stare, assuming all other variables (like the amount of time I was crit-hitting Golg) stayed the same?
I would have tested it but a) the guy yelling at me was really annoying and I didn't want him to be right and b) I'm too lazy to work it out myself
Tl:dr: Does a 295 Black Spindle do more crit damage to Golgorath than a 311 1000-yard stare?
Edit: The general consensus seems to be that the Black Spindle is better even with the 1-2 level light drop, but that it doesn't matter what I use provided I'm doing enough damage. Reckon I'll stick with the 1000YS as I feel more comfortable using it. Thanks everyone!

Use what you're most effective with. Don't see why people suck the spindle off so much. Shit died when they killed White Nail.

Black Spindle is far superior if they are about equal light level. In this case you were fine using your 1000 Yard Stare, in my opinion of course.

2 Antworten1000-yard stare has all the same stats as hunter exclusive legendary 'stillpiercer' (aside from the stare having a slower reload speed) so if you're a hunter use stillpiercer when not using spindle. #huntermasterrace

2 AntwortenIt depends on how long you guys are shooting him for (If you do one puddle or multiple). When doing multiple puddles, I manage to empty all my ammo, which, when you have triple tap and reload after every 3 shots, is 34 shots. Definitely better. If you're only using one puddle then use the spindle.

1 AntwortenI was doing more with a 310 1K stare then my buddies with 300 black spindle. By alot. But i also have triple trap which gives me give rounds to shoot at him then i switch to sleeper and get some massive damage in before i jump out. I always do the most damage on him and warpriest with my 1k

The people saying spindle on the logic that you don't have to reload ammuse me. I'm honestly not sure which is better but to just flat out say spindle because no reload is pretty stupid. To accurately tell which is better you would need to time how long 1000ys takes to fire full mag plus reload. Then check how many spindle rounds you can fire on that amount of time. This would effectively eliminate reload time as a factor. From there it's just a matter of multiplying number of shots by amount of damage.

Situationally speaking, I'm pretty sure black spindle is the highest possible dps in the game for golgoroth. A difference of 16 light probably won't matter seeing as spindle is a higher impact archetype anyway. For daughters/oryx the spindle should be swapped for a legendary so you can use touch of malice anyway. This is all based on my observations during wipes when comparing how much damage everyone did to the bosses.

Yes it would have done more damage its not necessarily just attack it's a combination of attack and overall light so black spindle would have done more with a better perk so dps wise yea you would have done more damage but even so 311 1000 yard should be good enough if your team was decent but to answer your question black spindle would have done more dps

I have a thousand yard stare with triple tap. Not sure how it equates in DPS.

If you can land none stop crit hits, the black spindle is better.
