Maths question: Black Spindle vs 1000-Yard Stare
In the hard raid with some fellow LFGers earlier, doing Golgorath on my alt. My light level was 310 and I was using a 311 1000-Yard-Stare. My Black Spindle is only 295 light, hence why I wasn't using it. The Fireteam leader kept yelling about how we should be using Black Spindle because it does crazy damage and we wouldn't waste time reloading, and was getting particularly frustrated at me for not using it.
My question is: Was he right to? Even with the light reduction I would take by equipping the 295, would it still do more damage than the 311 Stare, assuming all other variables (like the amount of time I was crit-hitting Golg) stayed the same?
I would have tested it but a) the guy yelling at me was really annoying and I didn't want him to be right and b) I'm too lazy to work it out myself
Tl:dr: Does a 295 Black Spindle do more crit damage to Golgorath than a 311 1000-yard stare?
Edit: The general consensus seems to be that the Black Spindle is better even with the 1-2 level light drop, but that it doesn't matter what I use provided I'm doing enough damage. Reckon I'll stick with the 1000YS as I feel more comfortable using it. Thanks everyone!

3 AntwortenI can't stand when people tell others how they should be playing. We had a guy who kept dying in the raid earlier and would say he died because someone else didn't do this or that. Then he started telling me how to play and I told him to worry about himself and please don't tell me how to run my character. It wasn't an hour after that and we beat Oryx hard mode. Suggestions are fine but when I'm staring at my dead ghost the last thing you'll hear from me is how it's someone else's fault I'm dead. I'll call BS on the game sometimes but not other players.

It isn't about the gun's light, but your overall light. You would have gone down two levels when swapping to your spindle. Two levels means very little. Your spindle has higher impact and would still probably be doing more damage per shot, plus no reloading. Spindle is probably better.

not too much less light... i'd suggest still using the black spindal >more ammo >no reload

Spindle all the way for the first two raid bosses. I have a 1000 yard at 313 and my 310 spindle puts it to shame. I use the 1000 yard for non bosses because it has outlaw and will of light.

Should have just looked at ur damage after a wipe using 1 and then again using the other. And if you didnt have to wipe then who cares?

1 AntwortenJust given the fact you don't have to reload, it maximizes your time shooting and doing dmg is why spindle is great for this phase. This and warpriest are the only fights I use spindle for, other then that my 1000 yard is equipped.

10 AntwortenDo people still not realise that the light level of your weapon does not effect the damage output? The other thing it will change is your light level, your level itself is the thing that dictates how much damage you do. If I was using a 300 black spindle and my overall light level was 300 light I would do the same damage as if I was using a 305 black spindle and my overall light was still 300. You light level overall is the thing that counts. Higher level weapons and armour just help to bring this overall figure up.

It's like 190 damage per light level. I know that doesn't help much though. All things being equal the spindle will out dps anything on golg.

Bearbeitet von High Charity: 10/25/2015 10:28:14 PMYes, only because you waste no time reloading. Mine was at 306 and I was underleveled (not even 309 at that point) and I was doing 66k per crit without a Tether, WoL, or Melting Point. On the Hard Raid.

From our wipes when I was a 293 running the normal raid, I saw that my damage against golg with 1000 yard was our teams 2nd top, only beat by one black spindle. However we had 3 black spindles, so it really depends. I can't be sure because i dont have BS, but I know 1000 yard stare does a ton of damage to him.

16 AntwortenOkay so my 1000 yard stare has casket mag, triple tap and spray and play. I have chest piece that gives me extra sniper ammo so I hold 23 bullets, my gauntlets give me speed reload with snipers and speed reload whilst in an aura. Because I have casket mag I can get triple tap to proc twice from one mag, this means I have seven crit shots at a boss before I grab a super fast reload, I can do that four times plus with the final three rounds I can grab another free bullet. In total I can fire 32 rounds from my 1000 yard stare in a single run at a boss, my raid team all have spindle and I out dps them by miles. Spindle good but there are other options.

1k yard is perfectly fine damage for golgoroth

It's hard to say for sure without knowing the perks for your 1000 yard stare. If you have triple tap and casket mag then you could easily do more damage than your lower level black spindle, and probably be about even with a higher level black spindle, especially if your armor lets you carry more sniper ammo and gives you faster reloading.

I did almost 8 million with my 317 Thousand Yard Stare. Beat the shit out of people with spindles.

4 AntwortenHow much would it have lowered your light level? If it only lowered it by one, the spindle probably would have done more damage over time because you don't have to reload. Are you using up all of your ammo with your 1000 yd. stare when you shoot him? Because you should be able to with spindle and it has a higher impact than 1000 yd. stare. But yea if it lowered your light level by only one spindle probably would be doing more damage per shot (Because of the slightly higher impact) and you would be able to use all of your bullets maybe even some of your heavy. TL:DR Spindle has slightly higher impact, would allow you to empty all of your ammo and then some. PS. Total light level is the only factor in over all damage so if you are at 310 light level with a 295 spindle it would do the same amount of damage if you were 310 light level with a 315 spindle.

Don't take b.s from no one you did the right thing my 1000 is 319 and black spindle is 308. I use my 1000 yard stare if I'm not getting gaze. That guy is a [b]b[/b]itch.

2 AntwortenI prefer the 1k stare personal preference really your not going to fail the dps parts just because you use the 1k and not the spindle
