The reason is a lot less about business and centers more on newer company policies.
tldr at bottom.
You see, Microsoft came out a year or so back saying that they will no longer pay money and/or compete for exclusively deals anymore. Games like Destiny used to have system developers like Microsoft and Sony fight over who gets the best exclusives but Microsoft has decided to stop wasting money on deals such as these and concentrate X-Box's funds more towards game development and system development.
This move, as a business choice, may seem I'll adviced but I believe Microsoft finally realised that people don't buy consoles because any particular game has better "exclusives" and a buyers decision wavers more around what system has better support and which has better longevity as a gaming device. So Microsoft is making a practical move and shifting money towards other projects like windows 10 for Xbox which will vastly upgrade the systems capabilies and releasing backwards compatibility.
They think these changes are what people want. Not one or two more guns than a PS player does in a game most of their customers aren't even playing.
This was the reason I went with an Xbox One. I can respect and appreciate their choices and will definitely be buying a PS4 if Sony does something similar.
tldr: Microsoft no longer pays for exclusivity deals and Sony does. Which is why they spent millions to get PS users two guns and two strikes at release.

And yet the Xbox one is worst then the ps4 Just face it Microsoft is going down hill there ace in the sleeve bungie left them and you have more issues then with PlayStation Also Microsoft gets hacked more then PlayStation does this is a FACT and you can take your two cents and Google that
-
It's true. The Xbox One's processing at about 93% the capacity of the PS4 and this is a big deal. The graphics card is also of a lower caliber to that of Sony's system. And yes, statistically speaking the Xbox live survive has had more attempted hack attempts that have effected the system than PS network has. This is attributed to the fact that Xbox's software is more akin to that of a computer whereas PlayStation's software is more foreign and distinct than a base computer. However if YOU should do a search online, you'd find that the severity of hacks have always been less on Xbox and the worst attacks have been against Sony's network. This is because while Xbox runs like a computer it's live service is maintained by one of the largest software developers on the planet. One that writes the base operating code for almost every lab top computer and server used by every business, website and home user. Microsoft is more familiarised with cyber attacks and has better security to prevent damage to their systems. Do you recall back to Christmas of 2014? A group of hackers launched simultaneous ddos attacks against both services which effectively shut down Xbox live and PS network to the majority of their users for days. It took Xbox less than three days to fully recover AMD resolve the issue. PlayStation, took a week!
-
Actually o was back up and running after 3 days as well as Microsoft not every where was under a week and also some locations under Microsoft where hit just as bad wait for a week to play
-
Here you go. Found the Eurogamer cover for the attack. Xbox suffered far less downtime than Sony. http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2015-07-08-lizard-squad-hacker-who-helped-bring-down-psn-and-xbox-live-at-christmas-avoids-jail "Both Xbox Live and Sony's PlayStation Network suffered significant periods of downtime over Christmas when a group calling itself Lizard Squad struck both services with a DDOS (distributed denial of service) attack. Xbox 360 and Xbox One owners were unable to log in, play online games or use online apps for around 24 hours. PlayStation 3, 4 and Vita owners were unable to log in, play online games or create new PlayStation accounts for several days." On a more personal note: I know you want to defend the integrity of your favorite gaming provider but you don't need to. Their actions should speak for themselves and your only duty as a gamer should be to think criticality of their conscious decisions and decide to whom deserves your business. It is their job to sell consoles; not yours.
-
Yea just like that time microsoft got hacked and got all those people credit card info leaked and had to shut down their servers for a month and last Christmas where they got that ddos attack and went offline for 3 days.....oh wait
-
I believe Microsoft got dos attacked as well Also wasn't the servers on Microsoft down 2 weeks ago due to "unknown issues"
-
They did took them a couple of hours to fix it....not 3 days. I understand you sony guys are used to being offline but a couple of hours is not the same as 3 days
-
For a couple of hours. And also does unknown issues mean hacked to you?
-
If they are not paying for exclusives, I guess Tomb Raider just decided to give them a timed exclusive ......
-
Thank you for noting that. See, Microsoft makes acquisitions and buy outs a lot. Often chooses to enlist the targeted company rather than just absorbing their assets. Tomb Raider and it's developer are owned by Microsoft and therefore they don't have to pay money to make the game an exclusive. In my opinion however, gamers care little about which system has what games so Microsoft could be generating much more money if they would simply release their owned titles on PlayStation as well. The counter argument to this however is that they do so to promote the Xbox One as the smarter choice for gaming which frankly it isn't. Both consoles have essentially the same hardware with the PS4 having a slight edge in processing power. But I shall reiterate my earlier point. People buy the console they are most comfortable with and whichever one their friends buy. System support and capabilities may also play a part in your selection but games are by far the last thing I was thinking of when buying my Xbox One.
-
Tomb Raider was created by a Microsoft owned company. They don't pursue 3rd party exclusives is what the op should've said.
-
I appreciate this content because I hadn't thought out read about it from that perspective. I just assumed that Microsoft wasn't bothering with exclusives because of how they seem to be rebranding the xbox as a windows machine focused on gaming instead of a gaming console. Though after reading your comment the idea I had just sounds like the result of the actions you brought up. Again, thank you.

My pleasure. Have a great rest of your day.
-
You're totally incorrect IMO
-
In what way do you believe me to be incorrect. I'd really like to hear your opinion of the matter.

i posted it above. basic economics

That was actually well thought out and well said. A bump for you, sir.

Thank you. I appreciate you taking the time to let me know. Have a good day.

Yes, the practice does work and it can surely cement the loyalty of their fan base and returning users. Another reason for Microsoft's change in policy could be that they're just tired of competing and don't feel like forking over the cash to compete with Sony on this. Though I am glad you're happy with the system you've chosen. It's a great one with advanced RAM and graphics rendering. That's what almost got me to buy up.

He I liked the controller :p
