I, and many other members of the community, have reason to believe that the Sleeper Simulant isn't done being upgraded to it's max potential. Here's why...
Tin foil hats, everyone.
In the mission, The Promethean Code, there is a point about mid-way through where you can scan a terminal. There's two other terminals in the room as well. Upon scanning, ghost mentions something about a retina scan. There is also a way to access a similar set of terminals in the S.A.B.R strike.(right before the arc wave puzzle). Now hang tight, it gets kinda looney here.
Please apply a Second tinfoil hat.
The reticle for the Sleeper matches the icon on the terminal that requires retina scan. (It's a diamond shape, which fits a trend in Rasputin's Bunker)
Please equip a 3rd tinfoil hat at this time. Just for good measure.
Now, a fireteam of three must go into the S.A.B.R strike during nightfall, or possibly into the Promethean Code during daily.
Once in the mission/strike, players need to proceed through the mission and into the room with the three terminals. In perfect synchronisation, the players need to line the Sleeper Simulant's reticle up with the icon on the terminals. I'm speculating that doing so will open up either a door or the ground underneath the guardians and it will bring them to a room where the rest of the Sleeper lies. From then, I feel it will possibly be similar to the Black Spindle where you'd need to kill a boss in an allotted time period in order to acquire the specific gear.
Upon further spending too much time on the Internet, I found this:
From Bungie in an issue of "Game informer"
...Bungie doesn’t want to spoil the story content of this mission, but it did say that there will be unique tasks and objectives required for completion, which might even include puzzles that are too hard for any one player to figure out on their own.
This can only further validate the possibility of the retina scan theory, but this is all just a theory. All speculation that I'm willing to test with a fireteam in today's nightfall. (I'm on Xbox 360) well, now I'll leave it to you guys. What do you think? The truth is out there, guardians.
Edit: SOMETHING I TOTALLY FORGOT TO METION. The flavour text for the gun gives a pretty big clue. Thanks to a user named "Warlock" for pointing that out.
"Subroutine IKELOS: Status=complete.
MIDNIGHT EXIGENT:Status=still in progress."
Edit 2: Loving the replies! This is just a theory, I never once stated that this is legit. I did this for fun, and that's all it is aside from it being just speculation. Relax.
Edit 3:We're trending. Am I important yet?
Edit 4: Definitely the most replies I've gotten on a post lol.
Edit 5: thanks for the disturbing amount of replies. I should have known better than to try and be creative on these forums. People are always too quick to shoot stuff down.
For the people who gave positive feedback, I thank you. For the trolls and others who said literally the same thing over and over again, thanks for helping us trend... I guess.

It's over. The gun sucks.
-
It was the original way to acquire sleeper until bungie got lazy and made us Replay missions to get the weapon out there quicker
-
The "puzzles that are too hard for any one player to complete on their own" was the codes, which would have been impossible to crack through brute force, and keeping track of the spawning of the taken and hive would have been difficult but not impossible for one guardian solo. Notice it doesn't say that a fire team is required.
-
Midnight exigent means darkness war which is still in progress, the sleeper is what it is its over
-
3 AntwortenI hate to say it but......the quest line for Sleeper is over. Its end of the line, and why would they add more too it?
-
One can only wish. I just see it as an overhyped vault space heavy. They really think that ricochet rounds are a good thing, just how they love max rate of fire weapons.
-
Ikelos subroutine is a directive Rasputin put into place when he started handing out sleepers. That subroutine being to protect it and keep the warmind from being bresched from the umpteenth time.
-
4 AntwortenDoubt it, destiny is a kids game.
-
2 AntwortenIt's been confirmed to not have any other further quests. But good theory and kinda wish it were true
-
Midnight exigent is the name of Rasputin's plan to beat the darkness Lmao read the grimoire
-
I also wish there was more to the SS, unlikely as it may be. I'd join you but I'm on PS4. Brought the SS as my Heavy into the Nightfall, shot the part you usually throw a grenade with the SS, Ghost just said "That looked like it hurt".
-
._ . Mmmmmmmm you wish...
-
3 AntwortenSubroutine IKELOS is the creation of the Sleeper Simulant, which is complete. Midnight Exigent is what Rasputin calls the Guardians fighting the Darkness, which is still in progress.
-
Doubt it, Bungie already apologized for the sleeper quest being shitty. They didn't say clean the sand out of your vags we ain't done yet bitches. So take that as you will.
-
When they mentioned puzzles too hard for one person I think they were talking about the codes for the transceiver. They always hype this stuff up to sound more complicated than it really is. But honestly, not many people would have the black spindle, sleeper simulant, or touch of malice if this was the old days before everything was posted on the internet the second it's discovered. I've seen so many people complain that it's been too easy to get these weapons. Well, the hard part was supposed to be figuring out what to do. Once you know, the steps aren't going to be ridiculously hard and we shouldn't expect them to be.
-
Remember when all these people spent countless hours trying to find a gun that was timelocked and done within a few incredibly easy steps? That's what's happening here. Far too much effort being put into something when Bungie puts bare minimum effort into their own work.

Bump 4 later
-
Yeah yeah ......will wait till you guys figure out...in the mean time I gonna play with the SS.......
-
Interesting theory, update if you find anything. Just a word of advice though, Rasputin refers to the Darkness as the "Midnight Exigent", or so I've seen. The flavor text could just mean that the weapon is complete but the Darkness is still in the solar system.
-
Tinfoil hat removal theory: Maybe 'Midnight Exigent' is still in progress because the darkness is still a threat. It more or less translates to "drive out the darkness" depending on what language you take Exigent from and how literal you are with the meaning of midnight.
-
1 AntwortenCould it mean that project ikelos=complete means rasp got us a weapon and Midnight exigent=incomplete means defeating the darkness?
-
Dude maybe you need the three unique fusion rifles.. The vex primary, the pocket infinity which is supposed to be a doorway, and the sleeper stimulant, each person has to have one
-
I appreciate your excitement and your desire to find secrets, but you gotta let this one go, man. I personally believe it is over, but even if it's not, the way to achieve the finalized weapon is not going to be mysterious or in depth- as with the original quest, there will be nothing secretive or intricately hidden if there are more steps. And that's a big "if". So for now just cool those nips down a couple notches and enjoy the weapon you have.
-
I too am from /r/searchforthesleeper, here to say...it's over man. We have it. All of that super in depth searching and theories and links to Greek mythology and everything was just a time gate. I would of loved an insane search, but it's done man

I like the idea. Hope there is something like that. But im pretty happy with it. I think its a fun gun the way it is. If theres more, than ill take that too.
