There's not a lot of things I agree with when it comes to Kanye, but he makes a very relevant and a very REAL point.
Lets not beat around the bush here. We know that a vast number of the destiny player base is young kids and teens. Destiny is rated Teen. COD is 18+ yet we know young kids make a huge demographic of that game. Destiny is a game arguably made for a younger audience in mind. (simple mission structures, simple story, non competitive pvp, marketing, incredibly addictive gameplay etc)
Conservatively ages between 9-17 I would say represent the largest player base demographic. (conservatively) This also takes into account hours available to play. The average 18-30 year old won't play the amount of hours, due to job, college etc
Well below the legal age of consent, drinking/overall drug use and most importantly gambling
Bungie/activision know this.
I find it sick that gaming has become an industry where it is acceptable to peddle gambling into the innocent and unsuspecting youth. To get them suckered into a system that they don't realize is taking advantage of them. There is a reason why gambling and drinking/drugs are restricted by law until the ages 18-21 depending where you live. It is because those things are addictive and can destroy your life if you are not mature enough. Many fall to these vices no matter their age.
FIFA-COD all these games use rng micro-transactions that are mathematically and psychologically implemented to foster a never ending cycle of gambling that can lead to addiction. To an unsuspecting mind of a young kid, who is pressured to get that new gun, shader or emote because all his/her friends have it; will fall into the cycle easily. We all know the process because we have been through it ourselves.
Destiny is at the precipice of following suit.
It is child abuse.
If I ever caught a drug dealer giving drugs to a kid I would get sent to jail for what I would do to that person. It is wrong. It is not ethical. There is a reason we have laws to protect kids. It should be illegal for games played by kids to implement gambling simulators, using psychological warfare to manipulate to hustle these kids out of their parents money.
When it takes someone like Kanye to call this bs out, you know the industry is f*cking disgraceful. Where are all the GAMING JOURNALISTS? Why are they not taking Activision, EA to task??
There is a vocal minority in gaming that sees what micro-transactions really are. We try and spread information and warn people yet are routinely mocked and dismissed. We know that not only is it anti consumer, it is fundamentally taking advantage of gullible children and teens to make money.
I would argue the whole concept/backbone of destiny is a glorified RNG slot machine purposefully designed around addictive gameplay that uses number of hours played to dictated reward. This along with over priced dlc was bad. What is stopping them from going to the next logical progression. Why not rng engram micro-transactions?
Somehow we gamers, under our watch have let our beloved hobby of gaming to degenerate into this. Shame.
This is a disgusting practice that preys on kids.
It is sick and immoral.

2 AntwortenI read his wife makes 60 mill off her mobile kardashian game. Bunch of -blam!-in' retards that family + Kanye is.
-
He was specifically talking about mobile games, though. If I remember right, he gave his phone to his kid to play a game on and the kid bought a crap load of in-app purchases just by randomly pressing buttons. It's not like he was taking a stand against "big bad corporate game studios".
-
He actually came up with all those words by himself? Color me impressed. I figured he'd be drooling on himself when he reached "beat around the bush" ^_^

3 AntwortenKanye is...... Share Gif: http://media2.giphy.com/media/TKE4puZRjMhH2/200w.gif

2 AntwortenIt really depends on the content. If it's actually worth the money, then by all means do it. But if it's a game that costs $5 for every goddamn life, then they're just an asshole. Of course, people can sue through Apple (not sure about other companies) to get their money back from the creator and return the "content". Spread awareness so no one else falls prey to their assholery.

5 AntwortenKanye West is a moron

1 AntwortenI'm sorry but when your wife has her own dumbass game about fashion, you don't really get to say anything negative about the game industry. Kanye's point is invalid.

17 AntwortenPsychological sickness is having kanye west (the lover of fishdicks) as a worthy rolemodel I dont respect anything that comes out of that jackasses mouth. He is terrible for the media and youth and that is the real insanity here. Destiny is a video game, which expresses cooperation and in many and most cases one by which cooperation and teamwork is necessary. How is that bad for the youth to instill teamwork. Yeah grinding sucks, so does it in real life. If you want another life lesson from destiny - work hard and earn what you get Kanye west probably grew up with zero mentality to work hard and earn what he got, not to mention respect anyone. He grew up to be trash destroying the youth and the media (prime example: his bush statement and Taylor swift debacle) F U C K K A N Y E F I S H D I C K S

Isn't this game 16 or 18+? So the question is why these kids are playing Destiny.
-
1 Antworten#rant much? I've been playing games for as long as I can remember. And while I do admit that grinding for the next-level gear can be addicting (and spending in-game currency can lead to mistakes), it's actually taught me more of a lesson in life once I made those mistakes in reality. When I blew all my money on a sweet LEGO set, I learned my lesson about not being able to go back on it (I didn't learn about refunds until I was twelve or thirteen). I knew that my money was hard-earned and spending is actually a lot more sensible to me now. Whereas in a game, I can just as easily earn it back and spend it again. Don't get where you're getting this whole "child abuse" thing from, but whatever.

1 AntwortenI think the real news here is that Kanye West actually made some sense.
-
I wouldn't take advice from anything that names a kid North!

How are micro transactions gambling? They are just a purchase, you know what you are buying. Is this a troll post?
-
2 AntwortenI thought he was leaving America. Saw it on Facebook .

1 AntwortenKanye mad Bungie didn't accept his interrupting Taylor Swift emote
-
3 AntwortenHave you ever played any game ever? They all simulate drinking or gambling. Nothing better than Mario Party or Pokemon to keep you kids busy. Lol
-
2 AntwortenYou're listening to Kanye West? The dying rapper who gives lack of content and bail on concerts even when his fans pay hundreds and sells white t shirts for hundreds!?! Ya I think I rather just pay $40 than listening to that whore

Bearbeitet von Raven1Fist: 10/13/2015 12:37:02 AMYep, yep, yep. No parental responsibility at all or even implied. You know it is the parent that purchases these games for these kids, right? Don't lay sole blame on the game house or publisher . Kanye is a wanker looking for a cause and and bandwagon to climb on
-
Bearbeitet von Hoops: 10/13/2015 12:31:09 AMYou have no idea. I would say the largest group that plays destiny regularly is 20 - 40 year olds.

Omg you're an idiot.
-
1 AntwortenWow.Are you being serious?RNG is the equivalent of gambling or drinking? We're you raised in an Amish village or beaten with a bible being told rock music is devil music.Honestly,if a kid or adult succumbs to stuff that is bad for them like gambling or drinking addictions,it is their fault. If you think video games are evil.Go kick rocks & get the hell off these forums because you don't belong here.

Kanye is a whack job but he has a dam point. Those kids games are set up to just charge the service provider, without a card at all. My nephew is good enough to ask but it is definitely a trap for youngsters. I never thought I'd agree with Kanye West. The world may just be ending afterall
-
Kanye west is an idiot, but what you are saying is correct, kanye is only saying it because someone else said it and he thought it would be good for people to think he's on the side of the kids because everyone hates him
-
If there is one opinion I have zero stock in, it's Kanye west!
-
2 AntwortenKanye West is clearly retarded. Nuff said.
