So I really like the idea of including secret missions into destiny in order to unlock cool gear however I'm not a fan of the special daily missions, mainly because I simply cannot play every day. My job requires me to go offshore onto oil rigs fairly frequently to perform inspections, this means I have periods where I have no access to my xbox. Previously, apart from the usual weekly loot, the only thing I missed out on whilst offshore was xur, I taught my girlfriend how to buy stuff from xur specifically to mitigate this problem in-case he sold something I needed.
However these secret daily missions are really frustrating for me as I am loosing out on cool content in the game with no real way of ever getting it again. You say in your weekly update that the first firewall mission will come back in time but exactly when?
Destiny is literally the only game I have played for the last year, I have invested so much time into this game (4000+ grimoire) and I hate feeling like having a job handicaps me in the game.
I'm sure I'm not the only one with this concern.
My suggestion would be to allow these secret daily missions to be repayable through the regular menu's. Limit the exclusive loot to once per character, this would mean only people playing catch up would benefit from this.
Anyone who agrees please bump so that bungie may see this.
Thank you.
[EDIT] A suggestion from one of the guys below was to introduce these special missions as quests - to me this seems like a very simple and effective solution. The quests can be timelocked by bungie as the missions currently are, however this would allow people to complete them in there own time.
[EDIT] Taking from others ideas I reckon introducing it as a quest line 1 week or so later would keep everyone happy. All the "if you can't make it onto destiny every day then you don't deserve it" people would have the prestige in owning it first and the "casuals" would know for certain they will be able to complete the missions to in the future.

We all have this weird mindset to get everything done as quickly as possible. If anything, special events should happen on weekends, where most people have the most time off in a given week.

Although I am in a similar position and can't play every day I feel like that's what makes the game more intriguing. It adds more prestige to obtaining a weapon or item especially if you miss it the first time around. I am working on getting my exotic sword finally and I'm close to finishing the quest line. People have had the swords for weeks but I'll still feel pretty damn good when I get my first one. You'll get the black spindle and the sleeper simulant in due time my friend. No need to ask Bungie to change the game.

That's just the reality of it bro. We all grow up and have people to provide for and jobs to work. You're the minority donor won't change. I see what you're saying but things have priorities.['

1 AntwortenI miss out on special missions too, due to life. But as an online multi-player game, I feel they can't and shouldn't cater to everybody. Special events are special for a reason. It wouldn't be special if it happened everyday. Holidays are only holidays when you have work. Otherwise, holiday everyday means you're unemployed.

I see your point, I work too, have a wife, got to run or go to the gym, or make dinner, visit family, build ikea furniture etc etc. Would I love to have 6 hours a night to get redout, eat tacos and play destiny? For sure! But I'm 33 not 23. It's just kind of the reality of it all. I'd love for things to pop on the weekends but destiny and its makers have to fit their game to the majority not the minority. While I know demographics for gaming skews older, it also skews towards a steady schedule of 9-5 not off shift on call workers.

4 AntwortenSo do I but I still play I work 12 hr rotating shifts

I chose my career and sometimes it gets frustrating that I don't have all day on a Wednesday to do a specific quest or fight for Black Spindle. But, catering to certain people ruins the game. Keep the system the way it is, eventually it'll pop on a weekend day.

I think you should be able to find these missions in patrol tbh

I think Black Friday should be more than once a year. Because my job makes me have to work that day so i miss out on all the sales at Walmart. Im a loyal Walmart customer. I buy all my groceries from their. However these one day sale events really frustrate me as i am loosing out on cool sales in the store with no real way of ever getting them again. I have invested so much time and money into this shopping at Walmart and I hate feeling like having a job handicaps me for Black Friday. My suggestion would be to make these sales available one time for me at my choosing. Bump if you agree!

Do what I do. Bring the Xbox and a tv. You have time to sleep? You have time for what little is required for destiny and its loot. Don't thank me, thank casually developed games

Agreed man. I work 11 hr days and am with my daughter being a father for the remainder of the day. When I get online at her bed time I usually only have around two hrs. Now I have a list of time locked quests I'm supposed to make the time for? The only people time locked stuff helps is the no lives of the game while all the other people with lives probably have a hard time doing them and catching up. They can time lock it from me in the sense that I only get maybe 2 tries a day, two days a week at it. That way I can do these things on my time when I'm able to and not hoping to find an LFG cause my friends aren't on that night and then fail because we can't coordinate well or something and have the entire effort wasted and not be able to play for another day or so.

I never attempted the fire wall mission on release but it was still active yesterday so I finished it off. I'm guessing it stays active if you collected those 4 gunsmith items which I found while farming iron relic last week.

7 AntwortenBearbeitet von Antithesis: 10/9/2015 12:46:49 PMbad idea honestly, this is not how mmo or semi mmos work, you either make the time for it or you don't and miss it. i work and go to college and i still have time to do every weekly activity on all my characters and did the sleeper stimulant, so it is possible. unique events feel special, you don't see people crying about missing opening the Ahn'Qiraj gates in wow to get their scarab lord (never played wow, just making a point) and thats why its remembered as such an important event, same thing with one time world bosses in other games

1 AntwortenReal life is OP please nerf!

Bump. I like this idea.

3 AntwortenLoosing out. Don't you mean losing out? Correction Police out! WeeWooWeeWooWeeWooWeeWoo (that is the sound of my car)
-
Agreed. It's crap when real life gets in the way of gaming.
-
2 AntwortenI'm confused about the Firewall mission supposedly leaving. I got back on yesterday, after I was unable to finish it Wednesday, and it was still available for me. Is this not the case for everyone else too?

Bearbeitet von YOLORuinsLives: 10/9/2015 4:39:03 PMthen make it a buff that you pay 14.99 from tess shop to help you "catch up" then let the real pay to win happen lol. makes those who work 20 hours a day get a chance at whatever you are complaining at.

I agree.

Sometimes jobs get in the way of gaming. Playing an online game when you have a job that takes you away for periods of time is always a risk. I missed out on two years of WoW because I was deployed to Iraq, Blizzard didn't even have an account suspension for my situation, so I had to pay for at least 1 month every 6 months to keep my account active. During the second deployment, there was an achievement thing to get a violet proto-Drake mount. You had to do seasonal events for a year to get it, I had to wait another year and then a year after that because of being in the field during two of the events. If not for spending my last three years in the army in the US and Korea, I probably would have quit outright. For your situation, you just have to accept that you will miss out of timed events and seasonal content. This is why I played a lot of single player offline games for years. Fallout 4 or something of that nature is better suited for your situation. My 2¢/I feel your pain.
-
I'm in the same boat here constant 12 hour night shifts help a guardian out.
-
2 AntwortenI agree with you. I paid the same amount as those who are able to play everyday and should have access to the same weapons.

True dedication is teaching your girlfriend how to buy from Xur haha that's awesome
