Im gonna Say it "Nerfing Thorn Broke Crucible"
I have to say it.... The current Balance in PVP is Balanced, but in a awkward way. I think the Nerf to hand cannons really did break the game. We use to have so many GO TO Guns, Vex, Red Death, Thorn, Last Word, Mida. Now all of these guns feel Odd with the current META. I dont understand if its the new guns or just simply the new maps Maybe its a combination of the two?
Honestly the GOTO Gun now is the messenger archetype pulse rifles /Shotty Combo, you can argue that Messenger takes actual skill to use but i totally disagree... Now that there is hardly any guns that can counter it, it becomes the problem. I feel like shotguns, Hand cannons, even pulse rifles were fine, Why didnt we just buff the guns that no one used because they sucked? Why did we nerf EVERYTHING down to there level except Pulse rifles? They're honestly more frustrating to deal with now then Thorn Ever Was.
Some serious thought needs to be done to the next balancing patch. The game feels more broken now then when thorn was 2 shotting from Antarctica range.
Thoughts? Suggestions? Maybe I'm the problem? Im not terrible by no means... So i know skill is not the factor here.
Edit 1: Clarification, Hand cannons are a mess currently, there range got nerfed way to hard. pulse rifles are to strong at scout rifle ranges. Scouts are completely omitted by pulse rifles. Auto rifles still are not good
Edit 2: I'm not saying nerfing thorn directly broke crucible, the amount of bitching because of thorn and tlw got allllllll hand cannons nerfed and they all got a serious undeserving nerf
Edit 3: Seems the community is pretty split on this patch. Many agree and many disagree and some are in the middle.
Edit 4: I agree thorn and tlw needed a nerf.

3 AntwortenThe nerf of the thorn is the only reason I play crucible now the 5 exotic guns for the mandatory killing was a dumb system and because shot guns have been nerfed we can use any combination of guns in the crucible with out much problems

I've killed a lot of people with Bad Juju, because I'm more skilled then they are, not because my gun is better... a lot of people have killed me because they are more skilled than I, not because their gun is better. Handcannons are not broken. They are stable, your easy mode crucible (you know how EVERYONE used Thorn in ToO?) is broken... you have to rely on skill/tactics more now...

Monte Carlo? Zhalo? There are options.. Red Death is still good. Hung Jury I've actually enjoyed a little even in pvp.

We really won't get a good look at the new meta till next week with Iron Banner and Trials. Players will need to find which new weapons work best for them. Some weapons will rise to the top once again, others will probably be left behind.

I think crucible is better now. And I used to run hand cannons 99% pre patch. Now I can use pulses or autos or scouts or hawkmoon and still do fine.

There's a new meta in there somewhere. Not that it's a good thing, but I'm sure it's there. The 2.0 patch just shortened that list down a ton and it's going to be awhile before everyone knows what it is. If anything, the new Meta will be less obvious and include more than 3 weapons so it will be less obvious.

2.0 was great. The whole point was there NOT to be a go to weapon. You can use whatever you're comfortable with as long as you're using it as intended. I still get 2 shot with Hawkmoon in a regular basis. You just don't see it from across the map anymore.

Do you really need there to be an unarguable OP weapon so you can lean your K/D on it? Are you trying to say that a PvP mode is incomplete without everyone using the same weapons? People like you are the reason why 2.0 was necessary. If you had a grain of skill you could easily find a weapon that works for you and do well with it. Messenger is not OP, and when trials and IB come next week they'll become completely useless. This is such a huge misconception about PvP. The weapon should be an extension of your playing style, NOT the dictator of how you play.

2 AntwortenThe current meta allows all pulse rifles, auto rifles, scout rifles and a majority of the handcannons. With all outstanding in their range class. The meta before was: long range? Hawkmoon or thorn, mid rane? Hawkmoon thorn or tlw. Short range? Thorn, TLW or felwinters.

One of your edits say that you agree that Thorn and TLW needed a nerf, but earlier you suggested buffing other guns. Don't change your opinion because of these internet bullies, you were right the first time. We whined that Mythocast was OP...nerf. We whined that Suros Regime was OP...nerf. But wait, isnt Suros a counter to another gun? Shocking, now Thorn is OP. Now Thorn is nerfed and we all knew what this would make the next OP weapon...Pulse rifles. I would have much rather seen buffs instead of making so many weapon types completely useless.

Only real crucible destiny has is Iron Banner. IMHO crucible has been broke with the lvl cap doesn't matter shit since the day it was released.

1 AntwortenI think there has to be slight adjustments, but it is getting close. Auto rifles need a tad more dmg at close range, leave fall off alone. Pulse needs a slight decrease at long range. Hand cannons need more dmg at close range. Should be similar to autos, just less total shots, giving higher dmg to 1-2 precision hits. Scouts i think are good if the others change. Sidearms need a lot of work. I think they should reload much faster and switch to them faster. I like that most rockets do not have tracking anymore. I think heavies are fairly balanced depending on how the individual plays with them. Just my opinions.
