[b]TL:DR - Destiny is a subscription product [/b] Not here to agree with you, laugh at your situation or defend or agree with Bungie or Activision. Here to state the facts - Destiny pricing is in effect and annual subscription fee. If you read the Activision earnings calls and annual report in the lead up to release and year one, the Bungie-Activision contract and consider $500m of front end Activision investment in the franchise the business model is; 1. Build a recurrent player base; and 2. Get them to pay a base amount for each annual major release. This returns the cost of capital and a premium to Activision and its investors. 3. DLC and micro-trans provide the cream if you will - it wouldn't surprise me if these more risky return elements are used by Activision to pay Bungie's annual performance bonus (whilst an oft used Contract mechanism I am just speculating). Activision and Bungie will be closely examining just how many year 1 players have taken up TTK. If the numbers are solid - then folks who have not paid for TTK will be left behind. If the numbers need a boost then Bungie and Activision will consider whether; 1. It is worth changing access to invite non TTK Guardians back into the fold. The issue is this group are not loyal and generally demand high cost new product features - cf their forum posts. They don't ultimately fit the business model as retention costs are too high and they can general similar behaviour in the broader recurrent play base (the "one bad apple" effect). Activision have a wealth of consumer behaviour data on this matter through the CoD franchise and will be confident of their ground as Destiny runs to the same base model - albeit without rotating devs needed to address production/quality/time needs typical of smaller capacity studios. 2. Build new content to attract new players. This approach will be appealing because it can be done at low incremental dev cost (the engine is now established), keeps exiting players feeling loved and with COD style marketing (inc tubers, casters, MLP and promotion of forum and Community darlings - sound familiar) attract the 15-25 target demographic. Activision will likely argue for the latter approach as this is consistent with their actual market experience - read the Marty judgement, the contract and financial reports the writing is well and truely on the wall on this matter. Since Activision have the final say on marketing and pricing (cf Contract) it's reasonable to conclude approach two is more likely be adopted. It's funny you know, and again just observing not taking sides, Activision's build - retain - annual fee (sub) model works well for folks who; 1. Loyal and happy with a fun non taxing product they can play with friends and like minded Community members (majority TTKers); and 2. Love the product but at times give well intentioned and entitled critical feedback (aka polarising forum shills/darlings depending on your POV - Destiny has its Wiggy's - the ancient vets will get this reference). It does not work well for; 3. The uber angry forum poster who firmly believes a product they bought in year one should work with year one features in tact. This doesn't fit the Corporate subscription model that is now clearly in play.

I feel you bro. Haters have a right to hate as you have a right to feedback as well. I do believe its wrong for them to lock others from content they already purchased. Even if its hidden in fine print i still feel it was morally wrong as human beings/Americans to avoid being transparent and totally misleading in TTK advertisements. Read the fine print. It was and has been explained. It's like buying a new 2015 model vehicle and being upset when the 2016 model comes for the same price but more and better features. Either you should have waited or opt to drive a 2015 first.
