TTK Feedback: Horribly Disappointed

I've read enough in the forums and played Destiny enough to finally get my opinion on this...and the fact that I'm posting this means it's really bad. Chances are this won't matter, but when it's this bad, even trying to be heard is better than nothing. To save any readers time, I will cover my experience with Destiny thus far, the point I'm making against TTK, other pros and cons, and a question that sums the whole post up. At first, it was fun. Fairly good story, fun game, a bit too much grinding, but for a while, I managed. When vault of glass became my target, it became all about working towards a goal and triumphing. By this point, I was well happy with the character I had created, but still needed better gear, which I finally got. I had slaughtered the vex and wore their metal as my armor. Come first DLC, the hive beckoned for my light and I accepted the challenge wearing my gear from the vault, and although some of it didn't come to par with the DLC at times, I found it was never impossible. I finished what Eris started and jumped into hell apart of a 6 guardian team to kill Crota, a god of the hive, and wear them as my armor. My hunter's legend was forged further and the gear was set to match her style. Now came house of wolves, and by now, I knew how to effectively use my gunslinger class with the assistance of aclyophage symbiote, as it became amazing the world of difference an extra shot actually made. It was the exotic that made my hunter seem like the legend I forged. Me. Not Bungie, not my friend, but me. I was ecstatic to hear that we can bring up legendary to the new level caps in house of wolves. Eventually, I settled on iron banner gear. Were the effects as good as some armor? Hell no, but some were helpful. I chose iron banner gear, because it spoke as fitting my character. My hunter was my best in crucible and always participated in iron banner when my schedule allowed it. I would switch out between that and trials of osiris armor with gunslinger and bladedancer respectively. With golden gun, I used aclyophage symbiote and iron banner gear being a crucible victor and champion who wielded a gun that fired with the power of not three, but four suns - the armor told the story. With arc blade, I used khepri's sting and trials of osiris gear being a champion of osiris who saw the lighthouse twice in all its glory and was a deadly assassin to any who crossed me, friend or foe - the armor told the story. Finally, the taken king. I was not looking forward to leaving behind certain things as they had been with me for many of my battles and the guns I had gotten used to were like comrades against the darkness. Everything I had forged MY legend with was useless. No more merit, no more story, just another armor piece ready for the dismantle pile because it isn't strong enough all of a sudden. I was reluctant at first, but eventually put away my favorite pieces in favor of that which did more damage and provided more defense. At first, it wasn't bad. The new guns felt a little different to handle, but they were effective like any new gun would be once you gave it a chance. I eventually settled on a legendary hand cannon from omolon and though it was a little tougher to handle, I started to like it. Fast forward a bit, I'm with my team of friends and we reach the taken king. After a pretty good final fight with the father of the "god" I killed, I was satisfied...until I realized just how unsatisfied I was. I killed the big boss dude and was ready to see what happened in the raid after getting the right gear. But was that really me doing that? No, that was Bungie's idea of me killing their bad guy their way. The legend of my hunter I forged? Wiped. Aclyophage symbiote is one of the exotics that won't make year 2 along with khepri's sting. Is a lot of this based on a look I created? Yeah, I won't lie, it is, but only because the look I created was my hunter's story to legend as a gunslinger and bladedancer. Ok, at this point, I might get grief over a story that turned out to be me being dissapointed over a look, but what was the point of this game again other than drive back the darkness? " Become Legend." That's exactly what I did. My hunter was deadly in the crucible, brought light to much of the darkness and made those exotics a real exotic armor piece. I was ready to forge MY legend further. Instead, I find my character stripped of her previous endeavors feeling like a new character rather than the character I created. "Well, it is just a new subclass and this is new armor so you have to get better armor and just get used to building up a new subclass again." Yeah, ok, I know, but...What if I don't feel like using the new subclass to kill oryx? What if instead of being a new-like character chasing after the boss I was a legend killing the father of a god I killed? "Well just build your gear up before going in and doing it." THAT ISN'T MY LEGEND THOUGH. I went through so much with some of that year one gear it's simply not the same. Why can't we just infuse old gear?? It would level up staying on par with our progress and limit instant over powered status in PvE. As far as I'm concerned, I paid $40 for Bungie to have me strip my character of everything that made her the legend THAT I MADE HER and be told to make the legend THAT BUNGIE INTENDED AND ALLOWED HER TO BE. I find that I'm just playing a game not the way it was intended anymore, but rather the way I'm authorized to play. Does that really make it a game to play and enjoy anymore when I'm being forcefully guided in one way? I apologize for anyone who finds this stupid, but the story and the whole legend thing is how invested I was with the real potential and good points of this game. I was almost always full support on this game, rarely did I really complain. Ok, other things I'm not happy with is I find some end game stuff like the heroic strikes being higher than the max level now being a little more effort than they're worth to some degree now when I have a few other options around it that are easier and there's not a lot of "in between difficulties" option which is annoying. I do like shaders, ships, etc. being in collection sets now that we can freely withdraw if previously owned (except for exotics which have a cost), but at the same time, why not do away with the vault (other than for general items like armor materials) and just give us legendary armor and weapon collections too? Overkill? Maybe, but it's not like I need every single year one sparrow...having a vault of glass collection makes more sense than that. Oh, and that spark that lets people jump to 25 and access taken king right away. When did games get to the point of skipping bosses? That's not how it works. Atheon was a boss, Crota was a boss, Skolas was a boss, Oryx is a boss - You kill one, move on to the next most challenging. I worked my way to Oryx, don't go telling me year one meant absolutely nothing. So far, the only pros are the new subclasses which are excellently done, and add a nice new mix to the fights as do swords which make an extremely useful melee weapon and nice addition to the heavy slot. The patrols in the dreadnought have actually been entertaining and the new strikes are well done and I highly enjoy them along with an excellent story. This whole thing is still far from being valued at the listed price though. Oh, and the whole omolon and suros and all those weird new brand guns? They're all stupid. Cool idea, I like some omolon designs, but I still think a lot of older stuff was better. Aesthetics have varied, but this DLC is a low point of them. If anyone wants to claim I'm more about aesthetics here, fine, go ahead, I even admit a lot of it is just that, but isn't that part of why we would like the game? I mean, that's the only function class items served before...and changing colors is great, but color doesn't always mean everything and it varies from armor to armor so don't argue with me saying "that's what shaders are for." I already expressed there was a reason behind my looks for a character though and if you would say you're all about what's useful over looking awesome, if you so much as carefully picked your class item to be something you thought looked cool, then you've been paying attention to the aesthetics and decided what made you happy in the game based on them almost the same way I did, the difference being I had tried to choose what looked good and proved effective which was somewhat more limiting. After triumphing in Destiny and becoming legend, why should we leave behind the gear that made us that legend?
