I've look at the new DLC and it just doesn't seem worth $40. The DLC costs 2/3 of the original game's price but it only gives 1/3 of the content. Also we all know the level cap means jack. Just like with the other overpriced DLC soon all players will be able to become level 40 while the others who paid for the DLC will keep throwing money at Bungie. The Taken King looks fun, don't get me wrong, but it feels like Bungie keeps labeling their content at ridiculous prices because they know their player base will eat it up. Look at the past two DLC's, $20 each and they were existing missions that were just backwards and the content was actually on the disc.
Also by the way, I'm not trying to stop people from buying the DLC. If you want to throw money at Bungie, that's your choice. I'm just raising some thoughts of mine.
Edit: thank you guys for your posts, Whether you agree with me or not I do appreciate the different opinions and comments (well... Most of them),. If you bought the DLC or planning to buy it I hope you guys have fun and enjoy it.

6 AntwortenBe glad you aren't British. UK players pay way more than US players.

That's how big businesses work. Bungie in this case can charge 150$ for a game and people will buy it. It's not a necessity to have a videogames. I remember when Xbox games were 49.99 plus tax but they realized they could make more profit and people will still buy it.

2 AntwortenI'd say wait and see what you think b4 buying it. I understand that if you personally think that it's overpriced that's your decision which I respect. I bought it and I am going to buy the class item and emotes. (I spent $10 on TTK because I had some help) So I pretty much am spending $30 on it because I feel like it's worth it to me. If you choose to buy it awesome. If you don't that's cool to.

2 AntwortenIf this DLC was 5 dollars people would still be complaining.

14 AntwortenI am about to copy this because you people just run your mouths without research. Destiny - $60 DLC 1 - $20 DLC 2 - $20 Comet (TTK) - $40 DLC 3 - $20 DLC 4 - $20 Destiny 2 - $60. ( model for 10 yr plan. If you do not like it jump off now because it's not changing) Also you are crazy if you think this is like TDB and HOW.

Yeah it is a scam but lets be honest, its a scam we are all buying into.
-
I'm a bit miffed that the physical legendary edition of the taken king has the original vanilla game disk in it instead of a ttk disk. I preordered the physical edition to have the option of resale/trade in value just in case but since it comes with the year one disk and an unlock code for ttk digital, getting the physical edition proved a bit pointless in that regard. Maybe I should have known better, or even missed something in the weekly updates but putting the original disk in a ttk box rankles a bit.

It's worth it

Never noticed I blame blizzard CE's

4 AntwortenMy big concern is the content they take away for the new content.. Previous raids not adjusted.(classic or current gear. Easy option) Blades of crota. (Kill one guy orbit and return) Pack of wolves. ( well i dunno whats happening there) ** cycle the events if you need to ** ALL equipment obsolete (sep 8/15) Just my thoughts.. i am still playing. TTK better be worth it though. Its make or break for me. *Buy current gear for raids i mean: no raid gear but engrams.. roll the dice with rng. Already do it anyways.

If you know your spoon fed community will pay the money, why not sell it overpriced? Basic human nature man, you just gotta step up and not buy it. It matters about as much as your vote towards president does.

3 AntwortenIt's the price of a new game which is absurd. But there is a trending pattern with Destiny DLCs which I've noticed: The story will be completed once within 1 day, the strikes, you'll run through once and then never play again and the raid will probably be so glitchy that you won't be able to do it for months to come. That leaves a lag ridden crucible with an OP meta where only 2 guns are used. On top of grinding everything again because Bungie makes your materials and gear redundant to increase your playing hours.

3 AntwortenThis is not going to be the same as TDB or HOW.

It's 70 in New Zealand and original game only cost me 88 in first week it came out. So while I have had a great year of destiny think I will play some new games
-
Let's be honest here for a sec, when is last time you buy games because you got bored of the games that you had. To me, destiny saves money, I haven't brought a single game since I last year

Only time will tell
-
I think it is 40 dollars worth. Shame they are charging a lot of people 50% more than that though.
-
3 AntwortenJust thought i'd point out that people who don't buy TTK will NOT be able to reach the new level cap of 40, wont have access to nightfalls, and wont have access to the new subclasses or swords either, so hopefully that helps some in your choice of whether or not to buy it :p Theres also been talk that there are more weapons and armor in ttk than there were in the game at launch, so hopefully there will be more content than 1/3 of the original game haha

14 AntwortenHow about you stop being a poor lower class citizen and stop complaining about 40 dollars that you can spend on game content! :)
-
4 AntwortenGo to a movie see how much money you spend with snacks a date etc. You get 2 hours of maybe a good time, for $40 you can have hundreds of hours of fun and meet cool people on a game that costs millions to make. In my opinion the price point is right at the sweet spot.

If you don't have a job

3 AntwortenLet me guess, you also think Destiny is a MMO.
-
It does cost a good chunk of change for "minimal" content, but no game keeps me playing as much as Destiny.

2 AntwortenIt's like a broken record...

3 AntwortenIm fairly new to the whole Destiny game and at first glance It does sound pricy for a dlc. That said id need to read the specifics and read reviews to see if i view it was value for money. So some perspectuve, IMHO £40 isnt that bad for example a ticket for an EPL football(soccer to non-uk) game costs £30, a day at the cricket is £60+. So i will probably buy it, if it gets good unbiased reviews.
