PVP Shotguns Have WAY Too Much Range Still!
I can't stand this ongoing issue! I'm still getting 1 shot at too long of a range with the Felwinter's, Madator, Party Crasher, Conspiracy Theory, etc with the Rangefinder perk.
These specific shotguns need to have their max kill ranges pulled back, or else this isn't going to get better. I still struggle to use my primary as much as I would like to because the range is encouraging people to get in close enough to pull off a semi-ranged shot, and will go to extremes to do so.
Guess I'm dusting off my Felwinter's again until this gets fixed.
EDIT: I'm perceiving the current kill range to be around 10ft, and I am proposing the kill range be about 8ft instead, so if you think my measurements are inaccurate then use the ratio I'm implying. Somewhere between Found Verdict and Invective's kill range would be a great balance.
EDIT: Pizza and chill suggests that PVP shotgun range should be increased significantly, and it's impact be reduced so it takes more than 1 shot to kill. This makes sense since a body shot from any sniper doesn't kill a player due to shields, so I just had to share his innovative solution.
UPDATE: I removed Shot Package as a problematic perk because it's being removed from old and new shotguns with it equipped in the next patch.

5 AntwortenOK I'm going to say if again probably again later this week. The shotguns range is fine its actually lower then any other pvp game. The problem with destiny however is the maps. Everything is tight quartered giving shotguns an edge. Because all someone has to do is stay in one area of the map that has optional range for their shotgun and people like you want a nerf so you can have that extra second you need with a head shot to kill them (3-7 bullets) before they get in their range to one shot you face the maps favor the shotgun. If you going to rush and run toward that red mark on the radar chances are you will find yourself staring down the barrel of a shotgun.

4 AntwortenSince 2.0 I hardly use my shotgun. Almost all my kills now come from primary weapon. With tlw and thorn reign gone you can use other primarys and they can drop shotguns. They arnt as bad as people make them out to be. Especially now that reforging is gone. A few still float around the crucible but people are trying o move to year 2 ones to be ready for iron banner a nd trials. Which those old shotguns wont matter in

2 AntwortenJust nerf the top end (key word top end) of the range values for shotguns again. Obviously people are still unhappy with party crasher, matador, and felwinters lie. I have no problem with them. They seem balanced to me as they shoot slow as ... and if you fail to insta kill your done. You will not have time for a second shell. But hey if its a handful of archtypes that people hate. Look at those. Dont mess with the whole class Bungie please.

27 AntwortenShotguns r realistic range. The thing that will push fusion rifles and sidearms to that level is to give them more range. But it wakes sense to keep shotguns at the range they have because it is actually realistic

No just the maps are so small where if real the shotgun would be the only choice Yes the are strong but not unbeatable I'm saying this as someone who doesn't use them in crucible as my timing isn't good enough

2 AntwortenOt is not the shotgun's fault. It's the map's fault. They are always close quarters like momento, thieves den, and to an extent the cauldron.

I see your point about shotguns having great range in pvp. But nerfing their range again will make them beyond useless in pve. I already have issues with the fact that buckshot just disappears after 15 feet in this game as is. Why do games insist on disappearing pellets for shotguns so much?

I don't think they have too much range. I think that every primary weapon need to have a way faster kill time. If I have an assault riffle and you have a shot gun in the real world I'm gonna drop you long before you'll ever close enough to me. How many times has someone ran straight through your fire and their health is low, but then they 1 shot you w a SG? It's happened to all of us and it's frustrating. Right now special weapons are the only reliable weapons. That's why in trials, good snipers always win. In normal pvp, it's just a big shotgun fest with the occasional snipers and fusion riffles. SG takes to skill what so ever. You just have to be close. And with these new maps, so many corners and twists, it's not hard to get close. Plus the radar won't show until they're right next to you.

1 AntwortenThey do. And that's why I use one almost always in PVP. Assault rifles have huge range too... The damage fall off is too far and stability should've been adjusted more. Also, pulse rifles usually out snipe snipers. But that's just how the game is. Bungie needs to stop wasting anymore time on [i]rebalancing[/i] and spend more time on fixing glitches and network stability.
