For me the A.I has far too many advantages over the player (tracking rounds, infinite ammo, no reloading), reducing the damage output of a weapon that's supposed to be powerful in CQB is pathetic. The shotgun is designed to get you out of tight situations and level the playing field against stronger enemies, to me this nerf is to give the illusion of difficulty and to cover how clumsy the A.I is.
I would like to know your reason for it and why you felt the need to make enemies even more of a bullet sponge.

I think Bungie looked at how much damage players were doing with shotguns, and the amount of usage. So they nerfed them in order to get players to use other weapons as well as shotguns. However fusions just, at least to me, dont have enough dps to justify using them over a sniper or shotgun in pve and sidearms were not amazing at dps either, but sidearms are still good for certain loadouts and situations. So this leaves us with snipers as the higher dps. So I think not only the shotguns need a buff but fusions do as well. Shotguns need to get at least 50% of their damage they just lost back, and fusions need maybe another 10% damage buffed to a.i. enemy. But back to your post, yes shotguns do need to be brought back quite a bit, but not fully, but until then i guess ill be rocking a sidearm to deal with close quarters stuff.

I agree, after few strikes and raids the shotguns are pretty much back were they started, the magic 8 ball says: (is the time for shotguns to take a break from Destiny).

I'd say I agree, but let's wait and see what the expansion brings. I don't expect much from bungie, but it's hard to tell if the difficulty is increased to encourage sales or not. That's what i assume to be the case.

I started using shotguns when they got the buff but now they suck once again. This nurf just didn't make much since to me.

It's like we were abusing it in PVE. Lol. "Umm, when majors spawn or jump in your face keep using that fatebringer or vision of confluence"-bungie. Shotguns are suppose to be op close quarters weapons, now you try to shoot a major he turns to you and giggles. Not cool

I did the weekly last night and wholeheartedly agree with this. Red bar knights took two shots to kill, I used swordbreaker on yellow bar knights and it two at least four shots even with the damage bonus. Shotguns have always been a high risk, high reward weapon in FPS games. The devs took away the high reward. Who knows, maybe it will be better once the full expansion arrives and we get better gear...maybe not. But for now it feels as though they went a little overboard.

Tried omnigul on weekly and it takes 6 shots to kill a reaver captain with found verdict

It's mainly because you are a 34 when you get to 40 the damage will be back to where it was However it wi be harder to tell as the level increases are much more gradual now In the past when you went from 30 to 31 you did 30% more damage which is a lot but now there will not be such a cliff
