Gather round children and let me educate you. Destiny is a failed attempt to replicate the magic of the inceadibly sucessfull Borderlands series. Let's hop into it.
Basic gameplay mechanics: On a basic level Destiny and Borderlands have similar gameplay mechanics. These include: several types of guns, being able to equip more than 2 guns at a time (not a terribly common attribute), multiple classes each with a unique super ability, elemental weapons, an extraneously high number of unique guns (a trait not apparent in most first person shooters), ammo drops specific to gun types and many more things I'm sure I'm forgetting.
Online: Both Borderlands and Destiny are built around being a social expirience with vast online capabilities. Both have content that can only be completed with the help of other players. The difference is that Borderlands has copeus ammounts of content that don't require friends. One could easily get hundreds of hours of single player gameplay in any Borderlands game WITHOUT REPEATING ANY MISSION. Any Borderlands game has more single player accessible content than all of Destiny's content (including the dlc's.)
Story: Borderlans has a story. Boom roasted.
Loot: Both of these games have a similar loot concepts at their core and they boil down to: kill enemies/bosses and get loot in the long run. The difference however is that Borderlands has a much higher likelyhood of reward, often guaranteed rewards, whereas Destiny leaves a vast majortiy of their loot system up to complete unrewarding chance. Borderlands rewards it's players far better than Destiny does.
My final conclusion is that Bungie attempted to replicate the great game that is Borderlands, but fell short on the project. They fell short because they decided to make their game a slot machine with no content or story.
TL;DR: Stop playing Destiny, start playing Borderlands and git gud scrub.

2 AntwortenCorrection destiny is what borderlands was trying to be, will less memes and more pvp.
-
Whether or not you have an opinion that Borderlands is better, Destiny has had significantly more players in less than a year play it than Borderlands has had in all of it's existence, not defending destiny, just saying that if we're going by success..Borderlands has nothing on Destiny

4 Antworten"Destiny and Boarderlands are both shooters with rpg elements, so they are the same game and Destiny is ripping off." That's basically your argument, which is dumb.
-
You talking about Borderlands one or the whole series? First was an introduction, not much story there. Second and Pre-Sequel both had a notable story. But still not "hundreds of hours without any repeat. Hello? Raidboss? Normal-TVHM-UVHM? Use basic sense. Please.

Thats exactly what i was thinking the other day._. Ahh borderlands the days<3

1 AntwortenSo then why do you play Destiny? You seem to believe you can gain some sort of Spartacus like following on the forums for the game you're insulting...might not be the best idea.
-
2 AntwortenThat's like saying being eaten by a shark and having sex with chicken are the same thing. They both involve animals and can get you in trouble.. destiny and borderlands are completely different.
-
Two years ago, Bungie themselves said Borderlands was part of their inspiration.
being able to equip more than 2 guns at a time (not a terribly common attribute)
You new to gaming brah?

13 AntwortenI prefer destiny's mysterious and interesting lore to borderlands corny humor.
-
Yeah its a failed attempt at Borderlands... Because they weren't attempting Borderlands, they were attempting Destiny which they did a lot better.
-
If you're so obsessed with dissing a game on its own forums. Step 1: go away
-
Borderlands does not have "hundreds" of hours of content without running everything multiple times. Even with all the dlcs I would give it 30-40 hours of content played through once at the most.
-
Ok ok ok get your level 33 ass out and play borderlands then just stop filling the forums with your crap
-
1 AntwortenWhy post this garbage here? Go play borderlands. Go use another forum. There is an #offtopic section you know. post this rubbish there ffs.

Borderlands is a failed attempt at Destiny

Border lands is dead. You need to get over it and stop complaining.

2 AntwortenJust want to say borderlands one didn't really have much of a story. Arguably it had more of one than destiny, but it wasn't until borderlands 2 that I really understood what was going on or why I should care. It was a lot of go hear and kill boss to get a vault piece so you can unlock the vault. Borderlands 2 on the other hand was fantastic and had an amazing story with characters that were hilarious and I cared about, but that was the 2nd game. As for the loot can't really disagree there, there was far more of it. But once you got to the higher levels and got really good gear it was pretty rare to find anything that was better than what you already had. So not much different than destiny. All in all I enjoy both games for completely different reasons. Both are good in their own right.

1 AntwortenHave you put 229 hours into Borderlands?
that's your time into Destiny
6 AntwortenShall we compare Borderlands 1 with Destiny? We would both have interesting first person shooters with an anorexic story. Elemental weapons are uncommon in fps but different damage types that debuff one layer of health to reach "red health" is not. Look to Mass Effect for just one example. Borderlands is a game with no skill gap. You make a class and then make another and go nuts on weak enemies. Destiny has a competitive player base in both pvp and pve. BoredofLands will always be a sterilized product. They don't know how to make new.

Idc personally but for what its worth i just got the handsome edition and its badass. Will not touch destiny until the ttk. Not because destiny is bad, but i have done everything in game except get my last 100 or grim points.

While I throughly enjoyed Borderlands, I absolutely hated borderlands 2, I got bored with it quite quickly. Why you ask, simply I felt it was the same game and I saw and did everything already in that game in the original. Borderlands 2 may be amusing to some but I find its comedy flat and pretty distasteful.
