I'll start by saying this, I consider myself a better than average console FPS player. A number of years ago I was invited to the COD expo free of charge, where I got to compete in the million dollar tournament. When I am trying to win, it is only on very rare occasions that I don't land in first place on my team. That's my disclaimer.
In destiny I usually hover around a 1.5 kd. Why so low for someone who is supposed to be a good player? Because I like to test unpopular builds and guns (I have a Payment IV with hipfire and secret round that I am in love with), and I intelligently play to the objectives.
What I've personally found about Guardians rocking 1.8 or above is that they almost exclusively use the best meta builds and weapons possible. I don't see much experimentation or exploration in regard to character building or weapon rolls. This is fine, albeit a bit boring.
What gets me about many of these players, is that they often get these extra kills at the expense of the team. What do I mean by that? Not playing the objective, not defending the objective, not defending relevant checkpoints, rushing/flipping spawns just to get extra kills, and running away from objectives in conflict.
I would much rather be on a cooperative team of 1.5's than a group of boring/rigid +2.0's who work opportunistically off of the teams back.
What do my fellow guardians think?

Bearbeitet von Dr.Love: 8/22/2015 2:50:52 AMI think after a 2.5 kd, gets hard to detirmine skill. Usually people with kds this high only play skirmish and rumble

Bearbeitet von cosy: 8/22/2015 2:39:13 AM1.7 avg across all, top 4% I'm always using one of the op shot guns I'll say that now (sorry not sorry, there too much fun to not use them) My primary is either hawk moon last word or messenger so I can use thunderlord My heavy it either jolders, corrective measure, or thunderlord when using messenger

I have a kd of 1.8 or higher and i really use what i feel like using. I have a 123zyzygy, a fulcrum (mini hawkmoon) and my favoritw gun is the last word. I will still use it after the need

I completely agree

Party chat, game chat and fire team chat! all this crap...combine game chat and party chat and I bet anything there would be some better team work. This game has some of the worst pvp players by a mile and I really do not understand since everyone pretty much runs the same load out. Then u get these players who can't cap a zone or get more than 3 kills without dying 20 times. I'm pissed off because I'm at work for 14hours So apologies if I sound like a little bitch. :) Hobbes bringing comedy and competition to the table! What do u bring clown? My chair?

17 AntwortenYou're just a typical gamer who can't accept that somebody is better than you, which is understandable. In no way is it possible that people could manage that because you are the best, an elite, a God amongst mortals. If people have higher K/Ds than you, they must be non-contributing campers who only use devious tactics and means to boost their stats. There's absolutely no way that you, THE ONE AND ONLY Zombeh Fox, could be outshone. http://codtracker.net/aw/player/xbl/zombeh%20fox I'm amazed at your Advanced Warfare stats too. You truly are a million dollar tournament CoD player with those stats. I am simply in awe.

28 AntwortenK/D is pointless in Destiny. Internet connection is the major deciding factor in performance in this game. If the connection favors you you are a god. If it doesn't, the best player on earth will get shit on thanks to awful net code. I'm a decent player and I keep about a 1.3k/d. I don't quit matches (even the ones I get tossed into that are 20,000 to 5,000 3 man curb stomps), I play the objective, and I use my life as a resource to deny the enemy or benefit my team. These things shit on your k/d. Charging a 3 man group on heavy? Yup, if I get even one I've saved an average of 3 kills for my team. If I wipe them or steal the heavy I've saved around 10kills. Shits on my k/d. If I see snipers squatting on a long lane and team mates pot shotting, I'll push and take the heat, pressure the snipers and give my team a break through to get out of the bottleneck. Shits on my k/d. If I see a blade dancer, instead of running I drop a grenade and shotgun him to try to secure the kill. If I get him (90% of the time it's a trade thanks to lag) I save 2 or 3 kills. Shits on my k/d. Good players are playing to win the game and support their team, not camping a doorway with a shotgun trying to farm kills. I don't want the guys with a 3.0k/d. I want the guys with the 1.5k/d and 10 assists per game or 6 captures. They're the guys doing work for their team.

I've been the the lighthouse using Universal Remote, Plan C, Pocket Infinity, and Bad Juju just to name a few. I'd say skill comes before using the best weapons. Skill.... then Internet connection.

Win/loss ratio has always been more important than k/d to me. It's just painfully hard trying to carry randoms on your team here than compared to other shooters
-
Very well said. I agree completely with your post.

I know the ppl u talk about, they hide behind the other players and run off and leave you 2vs1 as soon as they get shot. I also know that some ppl will make the worst guy on the fireteam the leader to get a lower pool and then you have the ppl that drop before games end to save k/d, but some ppl are just that good. I play my best when I play ppl better than me and they make me a better player.

So your complaint is their lack of objective play? Any player above a 1,8 k/d is smart enough to defend relevant chokepoints and objectives (Easy kills). They might not cap a lot of flags, but what they do is much more crucial in a TDM variant, like Control is. Besides if you want to play a more team based game mode when every gun fight matters, and a game mode that is a better indicator of skill you should play Skirmish.
-
I think a high K/D can be a sign of a lag switcher, the known lag switchers I've seen had like insane K/Ds though like 16.45. I'm sure most people at the top use thorn at least some of the time, but I think anyone in the 1.0-1.9 K/D range is an average to slightly above average Destiny PvP player.

lol my last 5 games on my Titan has been 2.6... sorry not sorry

1 AntwortenAre you retarded? Countries don't go to war with shit equipment because they will lose. They go to war with the best baller equipment to stomp people with 1.5kd in the face with. Get a grip

Sry..
2.2
Man, more hate and negative trying to be pushed forward towards higher k/d players. I'm so tired of reading this resentment. Players play however they want regardless of K.D. I play whatevergun i'm in the mood for, if you're good at the game you're good. While the gun does play a massive factor, having fun as well is the motivating move, I don't see why you're shitting on higher k.d players in particular because of you preconceived stereotype you just pushed forward.

I have a 1.7 and I love to experiment with new builds. Then a guy wrecks my whole team... I still usually get a 2.0 in control or right around there. Look at his build... Thorn, TDB Felwinters, and Horseshoes and grenades rocket. Proceed to get shot by thorn he goes behind a wall as I get away from it I get sniped by thorn from 4000 miles away. This damage drop off stuff will be interesting
-
Well I have about a 1.13 K/D on control on my hunter, I usually come top of the leaderboards most times too, it's just where I used to try out new weapons
-
You just suck.
