I entered a strike two days ago. Had just started and the phone rang. It was the hospital about my Mum whose seriously ill.
I had to take the call so was inactive for ten minutes. I simply couldn't do anything.
You would ban me for taking a call that's a darn sight more important than any video game ??

Phone call or not. If you're standing there doing nothing I'd want you kicked so someone who can actually help me can play. No offence but if I'm playing destiny I'm looking for a fireteam member. Not someone on the phone for any reason. Turn the game off if it's important.

Having the second highest number of kills would say I played my part in a three man team.

Doesn't matter. You're away for 10 mins. I'd have you booted after 5. If you're gonna miss a lengthy period you may as well back out. I hate doing a strike and half way through the afk guy decides to help.

Irrelevant really. Also tbh i refuse to believe you were afk for 10 minutes and still managed this. Its just not possible. Being inactive on a group activity for more than a few minutes should get you kicked. Why do you have a problem with this? If it happens because you're on the phone, you can just restart, you've lost almost nothing, meanwhile the strike hasn't been left with 2 people for 10 minutes.

Ten minutes was an estimate as I didn't start a stopwatch! People need to stop acting holier than thou and acting as if they've never been in a situation where they've gone AFK during game activity (for whatever reason) And people need to think before they write as I really wonder how many people get calls like that and, whilst a doctors talking to them about something way more serious than the game, they think "oh I had better do this and do that and log out and go to orbit". With respect, it doesn't happen. But yeah I'm getting the hate because I owned up to a one time event and the moral majority don't have the guts to admit they've done the same or worse!

No hate man, and taking that phone call was infinitely more important than some video game. Still tho, you shoulda been kicked.

Don't think anyones suggesting you get banned, just kicked from the game, which is completely fair enough surely? If you stand there doing nothing for 4 or 5 minutes you should be kicked to orbit. Strikes only take 10-15 mins anyway, you're just inconveniencing others by being inactive.

True. My having the second highest number of kills inconvenienced everyone. Yeah I should have gone to orbit but I had more important matters on my mind at that moment.

Yes I was so inconvenient I still had the second highest amount of kills out of the three of us. So I caught up and kicked ass.

Wait so the hospital calls about your mom that is seriously ill which takes ten minutes. You get auto kicked after a few minutes. So during that important phone call you made sure to keep moving around so you wouldn't get kicked. Priorities bro

Honestly though, if the phone rings, and you have to take it, turn your console off, or go to orbit. It takes seconds. You don't know how long a phone call will take.

How do we know ?. We could all have gone at various points. And they might have gone AFK longer than I did. Hence I could have killed more than them. We could speculate all day lol

There's no speculation. If they went AFK for longer than you did then they would have gotten kicked as well lmao. What are you trying to prove?

I'm not proving anything. I don't know what happened. Just amazes me the hate I get for this from people who have done exactly the same but are too scared to admit it. Nothing surprises me about this community. Too many morally upright, holier than thou keyboard warriors for whom admitting going AFK for genuine reasons would be an anathema to them.

Yeah I do. Oh I don't expect much. Had some sensible polite replies (yeah I should have left) but some go beyond the pale and it just seems a massive over reaction ( from people who have probably done the same but won't admit it). But nothing on here surprises me.

You wanted to get to that phone stuff ASAP, and a game really isn't that important. Especially not in comparison. So yeah, optimally I'd have left, but realistically maybe not.

I left this afternoon when it rang. Right at the very end, boss with a tiny bit of health but I was a good boy and logged out straight to orbit.
