Abortion seems to be a very hot topic.
Those who are for abortion claim those agajnst it are stupid, those against it say thay those who are for it have no morals.
I for one am against it.
Let's look at abortion from two views.
A single cell out on Mars (which cannot grow or develope) would be counted as life on other planets while a human here on earth would be considered lifeless if it hasn't been born yet even thouggh it is growing and developing.
See the hypocrisy there?
Now let's look at this from a political view.
The declaration of Independence states that ALL people have the unalienable right to Life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
What does unalienable mean? Unalienable means "cannot be taken away".
Qhay about life, what is life? Life is the basic characteristics that seperate us from things like water and rocks.
What is murder? The intentional taking of a human life. (See above for description of life)
So if the right to life is taken away INTENTIONALLY murder is being committed.
Plus all abortions are done for the following reasons: "I", "me", or "my".
Abortion is murder being committed for selfish reasons. Plain and simple.
This questions was just said "it doesnt matter what the definition of life is but what human is".
My response to that is this, an eagle egg is illegal to destroy, an unborn is legal to destroy. There isn't really a difference, an eagle egg holds a future eagle and is considered to be an eagle. An unborn is human being developing but isn't considered human? Why? Because what it depends on another person to survive? Are geriatric people not human? Pretty sad. An unborn baby is just as human as you are.
FACT: When a baby is being aborted it tries to push away whatever is being used to kill it. And it has no self awareness or ability to think or feel?

Abortion is good because of the increased revenue from coat hanger sales.

Don't like abortions? Don't get one. But don't try and stop other people from getting them either. What other people choose to do with their bodies is not your bisuness

Didn't you already make a terrible thread with tons of mistakes about evolution? I'm not inclined to give you much credit on important topics after that.

If i really wanted an abortion i would punch myself in the stomach, throw myself down the stairs, get a wire hanger and fish the thing out, or douche with bleach. Women will find unhealthy ways to abort the growing human in their womb. Having a safe and healthy place to get the job done is the best way to not have women dying or potentially screwing there reproductive organs up for life. If you dont like abortions dont get them. I have a kid and im still pro choice because its simply none of my damn business what other women around me choose to do with their bodies.

1 AntwortenBanned or not, people will still have abortions. The outlawing of abortions is just going to make safe methods of abortions illegal. Unsafe methods will still be there, and it won't be pretty. A doctor who has the knowledge and training in abortions vs. a coat hanger. Which one would people rather go to for an abortion?

3 AntwortenThe argument isn't over whether it's life, it's over whether a fetus is human enough to matter. Murder is taking a human life illegally, so abortion isn't murder. It's the legal destroying of a fetus. Undergoing abortion for reasons relating to yourself is fine, as you are the most important thing you should be worrying about. If someone can't afford to raise a kid, they shouldn't have one. Adoption statistics aren't exactly great, so you could argue that they have unselfish reasons because the kid would either live a bad life in a family that can't support it or end up being a part of the not so great adoption statistics. The eagle analogy doesn't work because eagles were endangered, whereas there's 7 billion humans on earth.

2 AntwortenBearbeitet von Ogma: Destroyer of Worlds: 8/7/2015 10:25:16 AMIt's about bodily autonomy. If a full grown adult is dying and needs a blood transfusion, you can't force someone else to give it to them. Their body, their choice. If someone recently deceased has an organ that could save someone's life, you can't take it from their corpse unless they opted to be an organ donor. Their body, their choice. It is illegal to make a decision regarding someone else's body in those scenarios. So why should it be any different for someone who hasn't even been born yet? Bodily autonomy. This "crazy idea" that any civilized culture has almost exclusively accepted for hundreds of years or more in which a person's right to their own body should not be infringed upon. Even if you think the act of abortion is morally wrong, you shouldn't be able to tell someone else what they can do with their body.

Bearbeitet von bluewind333: 8/6/2015 6:35:09 PM1. A single cell on Mars can apperently live on its own. 2. All people. Unborn are not people yet. Supreme Court agrees. 3. Is a miscarriage involuntary manslaughter? By your logic it is. 4. Not all a abortions are me myself and I: what if the baby will die immediately after birth? Why go through labor for that. 5. Eagles are endangered. They need more eggs. 6. Appeal to emotion rather than an actual argument. Fact: you never took grammar.

A 'single cell' isn't life. A single celled organism is. Humans are not single celled organisms, therefore as a single cell, we are basically nothing. Aborting a foetus straight away before the cells have grouped and formed a brain should not be considerred wrong or immoral. What should be considered immoral is the fact that the stupid person has had to abort it because of their irresponsibility in not considering that it creates life when the have sex without contraception. Now I do have a problem with people who abort very late on when a foetus has a brain developing - if it has a brain, can it not think? Therefore, I see it as a person.

Bearbeitet von savage coco: 8/6/2015 11:33:17 PMIf abortion wasn't legal, there would be lots of idiots that aren't fit to care for a child. It would be worse for a child to be born into a horrible environment than to be aborted. It sounds horrible, but it's the truth.

Bearbeitet von Mighty Albatross: 8/6/2015 10:43:10 PMI think we can all agree that at some point it's unethical. The only question is when. You seem to believe it's at the moment of conception. Others believe it's still ethical until the baby comes out of the womb. I personally think the line is somewhere in the middle. I'm not sure where that line is though. Perhaps as soon as the baby moves, or perhaps when the first signs of brain activity appear. But both of those don't seem quite right. Perhaps there is some amount of brain activity (maybe at the same level as a spider) that you could put the cut off at

34 AntwortenI don't give a flying fuсk if people consider it human or not. It has no self-awareness, and it has the same possibility as the sperm in your sack of becoming a fully functional human being that can contribute to society. If people want an abortion, get it. We have no shortage of babies on this planet, they're quite readily available in excess and it's not a tremendously difficult task to create more.

Bearbeitet von AStupidThing: 8/6/2015 6:45:59 PMI think abortion should be fine if it was -blam!-, or if there is a defect that could seriously harm the mother. But seriously, don't get an abortion every time you have unsafe sex.

1 AntwortenCompletely fine with abortion. You shouldn't be able to regulate what women can and can't do with their body.

See the difference is that there are fewer eagles then people so their lives are more important
do i even have to explain the mars thing
2 AntwortenBearbeitet von LeatherDaddy88: 8/6/2015 6:09:29 PMThe declaration of independence confers no legal rights to anyone. Instead I'd look to the constitution, Particularly the amendments which confer rights to "persons" (see the 14th which refers to persons born or naturalized) a fetus isn't born. Though the constitution does not define persons per se that a state cannot deny rights to someone in their borders who has been born or naturalized....implies a requirement that that someone be born. That's the American political framework for abortion in its most basic form. Roe v wade and planned Parenthood v Casey address some of your other concerns ( fetus viability for example) These cases are still good law. (Roe less so than Casey but it is not overruled)

Should b personal choice Thou if I was a woman I would never get an abortion unless -blam!- n that was a bi product of it. Personal choice to get porked n would live w consequences of that action

It's not about wether or not there is life it's about how a fetus isn't a person yet. Until it develops a brain and it's heart is beating it has not achieved personhood.
